Dimyr Krutchik

22 years old

Human

Black Hair

Brown Eyes

5’7

135 lbs

Personality: Dimyr often comes off as a loner, but really he’s not unsocial. After the disappointment of his temple, Dimyr has little trust in the promises of others. He has above average intelligence and is quick to understand, but has never thought of himself as a scientist. He is instead interested in pursuing the knowledge of his ancestors and discovering what gears truly turn the world.

Appearance: Dimyr wears a simple brown robe with a sash, and may have his hood up or down depending on mood. He is fairly normal looking, and only others from Harkrichem would perhaps notice the subtle shape of his ears or length of his toes common to those of Balga. He is well kept, but makes no extraordinary effort to improve appearance. Dimyr stands straight and proud, but is thin and occasionally undernourished under his robe.

Occupation: Trained as a priest of Fal’har, currently unemployed. Makes ends meet by identifying and polishing interesting stones. Occasionally Dimyr will summon a small entity into a stone, which reforms the stone in the image of the possessor. These stones have no special abilities but do retain a certain allure, which may help them fetch a better price.

History: Dimyr Krutchik was born in the small village of Balga, not far from the “city” of Harkrichem. At age 7 Dimyr realized that none of his friends saw the faces in the sand and grass which had accompanied him throughout his life. Throughout his 8th year Dimyr had nightmares which his parents originally wrote off as the whims of a child, Dimyr being their oldest. But one morning Dimyr spoke to them in a newly deepend voice and said that Fal’Rou Shakbatt had visited him in his sleep and told him several things, including an instruction that his parents were to longer torture him with foul Agrae for dinner every night. His parents sat stunned, for Fal’Rou was a name no child should know, but when his father later discovered all the Agrae had become infested with shuk-worms he made a decision. Dimyr was sent to Harkrichem to join the priesthood of Fal’har.
Dimyr arrived at the ancient temple and was placed under the guidance of Falru’Michel, himself a young man new to the ways of Fal’har. There Dimyr was taught the history of the world through the watchful eyes of the priesthood. He learned the stories of the epic battles between the Old Ones, the Outsiders, and the Guardians who stood in defense of man. He learned of the Gate Which May Not Be Opened and how Fal’Har, “The True Lock,” was founded to protect man after the Guardians had gone to sleep. He also learned that he was particularly attuned to the speech of his ancestors and the cries of the Outsiders.
Dimyr progressed well at the temple, never achieving the best marks, but never falling behind. His attunement was investigated at age 17 by visiting Priests. They found him to be significantly, but not extraordinarily adept. When Dimyr tried to push the visiting Priests for more advanced training, they scoffed and spoke rudely of his breeding. Dimyr soon became disillusioned with the true workings of Fal’Har, realizing it was now just a fraternity of bigots. By age 20 Dimyr had fully given up on his temple, but not on his learnings.
Finally Dimyr had had enough. With 2 months planning, Dimyr managed to steal his temple’s prized, ancient copy of the holy book BeeHarKuh, or “Book of Lock and Key,” and replace it with a copy. He then escaped the temple and got a ride with a caravan heading North that very night. Dimyr was free, free to learn the true ways, free to explore the mechanics of his world, and free to converse with the Outsiders who had been reaching for him since birth.

Abilities: Dimyr has basic ability with his knife and staff, however these generally serve as travelers tools, and rarely weapons.

Dimyr can imbue a proper stone with a small demon or aspect. The stone is inert while possessed, except for an allure which may incline a buyer to pay a bit more. When the stone is destroyed the demon is released. The beast will always flee back to the gate, but before doing so may wreak quick and terrible havoc. The creature will retain its own personality and therefore its actions are unpredictable but relative to the actor, however it is possible to train the demon and influence its destruction before it flees. Right now Dimyr has little understanding of this ability and can not hope to protect even himself from a freed demon, but he may eventually learn. The imbuing process requires a bit of Fal'Har ceremony, and generally takes atleast 2 hours to prepare herbs, statues, or offerings, and to go through a proper ritual. Generally not more than one a night can be accomplished. Dimyr currently has only managed to trap very small or weak demons into an individual stone.

Dimyr’s final ability is to communicate with the Outsiders and Old Ones. He has learned a beginner’s level in the language they speak, known simply as the Ancient Tongue, but still has little comprehension of the mysterious things they may attempt to tell him. They mainly appear in the patterns of nature, in grains of sand, wind blown grass, or fallen leaves. Dimyr can not reach out to them on his own. They may lie to him or help him, hint or trick, and Dimyr has only the teachings of his Fal’Har temple and the book BeeHarKuh to guide him.

Equipment: Dimyr’s staff is a simple fallen birch branch, hardened by use but a poor weapon.

Dimyr’s knife is also mostly a tool, but still has quite a sharp steel edge. The handle is plain hardwood.

Dimyr carries the book BeeHarKuh which he stole from the lame temple of Fal’Har. It is an original and several centuries old, but certainly not the original, as his temple is but one of many. This book is surely the most valuable thing Dimyr carries, however only to those who value Fal’Har. The book has no magical properties but contains words of Ancient wisdom. It is wrapped in simple cloth to protect it from the elements.

Dimyr has a mechanical stone polisher, which is little more then a tin case into which sand or pebbles may be combined with a pretty stone. A simple mechanical mechanism shakes the cargo, hoping to grind and polish the stone.

Dimyr wears a simple brown robe and sash, but carries the deep green and blue robe of Fal’Har in his bag.

Dimyr carries his few possessions in a brown backpack. However he also has a small dark blue pouch in which he collects interesting stones to polish.

Hey there, and welcome to Althanas. Just a few things before I let you get out there.

Please put some spaces in your post so that the abilities/skills/magic are split up and easier to read.

I'm going to assume that basic skill means below average.

Please set a time for how long it takes to imbue a stone with a demon. Also, can you please limit that the demon to a small and relatively weak demon for now. You'll of course have to get the imbued stone approved at the end of a thread before you can use it, unless you use it in the thread in which case you need to be careful not to powergame it and make one suddenly to unleash it moments later.

Other than that, you're almost done. Just edit that little bit in and you'll be free to go.

edited. I will not be powergaming with the stones, in fact I plan on allowing them to backfire quite often :) It's a bit like trapping a shrew under a bowl. Thanks!
