Psychiatric Evaluation/Personality
In general, Jack embodies many of the worst traits of humanity; greedy, vain, arrogant, insensitive, and ruthless, the outlaw tends to warrant the insult of "bastard". He is, however, quite ambitious, robust, and self confident, and maintains many of the qualities of a natural leader. Jack refuses to sugar coat things, preferring to speak plainly, which tends to offend many a person, and what structred bit of morals he may have had as a child has henceforth been destroyed. Honor is a thing of the past, he beleives, and he has no trouble fighting dirty, lying, manipulating, stabbing allies in the back, or outright stealing to get what he wants.

First Impression
As far as looks and dress, there is no illusion as to what Jack is and presents himself as; most every aspect of him is shady. He wears his dark brown hair short with semi-long, using a personal philosophy that long hair is certainly suitable for women and the limp wrists. Most often, he is clean shaven, but there is the occassion that a slight shadow of facial hair graces his jaw and lip. His body is lean with evident muscle tone, athletic and agile, with few scars marring his skin.

Jack's clothing keeps a look of professionalism for the most part, an untucked white button down shirt, unbuttoned and casual at the collar, a leather belt around his waist with a large, oval buckle, and slate gray slacks, his feet graced by leather boots. When out in harsh weather (or any weather, for that matter), Jack dons a brown leather trench coat with it's collar as well as the shirt's flipped up and out. A leather shoulder rig with a gun holster at the left arm is strapped over his shirt, and worn at all times.

Skills
Close Combat To grow up in Derium, one has to learn to lash out with everything you have every moment of your life, tooth and nail and anything nearby. Jack learned awful quick of the harsh realities the city and it's snickering, sneering folk had to offer, and often came home at nights with bloody knuckles. He's quick, and disciplined, but most importantly; he'll hit you damn hard. Currently, his ability sits at an above average skill.

Swordsmanship (Mid Range Combat) Another lesson fast learned was that few outside of Derium fought with their hands. Jack quickly remembered his lessons as a child, but his ability had faded over time. Currently, his ability with a sword sits at an average level.

Marksmanship (Long Range Combat) When his father put a revolver in his hands, Jack shined. The boy had a natural ability with most handguns and rifles, though their dismal availability kept him from expanding greatly on this skill. Currently, if Jack were to ever reassemble his gun, would would find he's failry accurate with it, and has an above average skill.

Bare Essentials
Most important, of course, is his wallet, with only a few ten peice gold coins in it, and second, the very clothes on his back, as well as a pair of fingerless gloves stowed away in a coat pocket, often put on in combat situations. In either hip pocket, one can find a peice of of a twin set of well used brass knuckles. On the left side of his waist, is a polished steel tachi, a predecessor of the more commonly used katana, it's crossguards (tsuba) having been removed long ago to make the sword lighter. In the holster of the shoulder rig, a Barak pistol sits, though it's slide was removed almost a decade ago, making it inoperable and incapable of being used as a weapon. Still, the fact that it can't be fired at all isn't clear until it's drawn, so Jack likes to flash it for initimidation purposes. Currently, he posseses three magazines for it, only one loaded, and only half so. (Note: Gun and parts will not be sold, unless I'm suddenly struck by a spell of mental retardation.)

The Roots
One: Derium, Early Years
The city of Derium, laying to the west of Corone, located on a tiny island, is considered to be one of the worst cities to live in. High crime rates, high murder rates, and loosely organized gangs and crime syndicates are spawned from the city's primary inhabitants; the castoffs of society. After trials and imprisonement in Corone, a condemned person is shipped off to Derium, which sits on cliffsides of stone shaved away by the sea's pateint waves. Unauthorized attempts to leave often result in a person plummetting down a hundred foot dropoff to the ocean below; where, if they have miraculously managed to avoid breaking a number of bones, they face five hundred yard swim to shore.

In Derium, you were born with your hands already balled into fists, anticipating the fight. Young Jack Krayne was born on a brisk autumn afternoon to Elisia Mertoa and Brick Krayne, both convicted of Terroristic Vandalism, though in different parts of Corone. The boy remembers his parents conspiring constantly to leave Derium around the dinner table, but as he grew, they soon left those plans behind and settled into the stark city. Jack never had a problem with his home, if only for Allinia.

Allinia was a young girl, an avian to be exact, whose parents had willingly located to the city in order to spread the word of the Thayne, of who many blind followers beleived them to be messengers of, taking into account their angelic appearance. In the murk of Derium, Allinia was Jack's rock, his anchor, to keep him fast and high above all the chaos. He received innumerable bruises and swollen, busted lips protecting her, and as his peers got older, some broken bones as well. By ten, it looked like Jack would be one of the first in years to actually manage to leave Derium legally...but then Allinia went from his life.

Two: Derium, Later Years, Departure
Allinia's family was called back by the central temple, fearful of their safety in Derium after a rash of burtal murders rattled the already bloody city. Though the killer was caught by vigilantes, and horrifically murdered himself, Allinia never came back, and as Jack hit puberty, his heart hardened and froze. He became a bitter and brutal young man, viciously beating his classmates and any that challenged him. Without Allinia's light, Jack became everything Derium was; guttural, crude, rude, cruel, and grim, and after time...Jack came to hate everything.

He despised being trapped in the prison of an island, despised fighting every day and getting nothing at all in return. He swindled and broke his way to a set of old blueprints of the sewers of Derium, which banked down through the rock beneath the city, and emptied into a basin. Upon being filtered, the water was dumped back into the ocean. On an unsettingly quiet spring night, on the moon's darkest phase, Jack set off through the city's back allies and forced his way into the sewers, sloshing through the waste and sliding down through the narrow pipes. After several hours, he was dropped, filthy, into the basin, where he inched past machinery and guards and back into the pipe to dump him out into Althanas itself.

As he quietly broke the surface of the ocean, he could almost feel the world and the air itself open up, as though the iron gate to a cell had been swung wide open. Jack swam only a few yards before happening upon a fishing boat, which he managed to bribe a ride from for two hundred gold, shrinking his already meager savings to only a few hundred gold peices. Here was the world...there to take like any ripe fruit.

Three: Radasanth, Brass Casing Ballet
Admittedly, in the way of a criminal record, and a reputation, Jack had little to stand against when facing toe to toe with some of Radasanth's worst thugs. When challenged, he spat and gave a sneer, and this headstrong attitude drew the attention of Garas Gundas. Garas himself had also escaped from Derium, though two decades ago, and was looking for a protege to take his gang upon his retirement the following year. The seasoned criminal invited Jack in on a heist; an attack on an opera house.

Garas wasn't counting however, on the fact that the Corone Armed Forces would be hot after his blood. A member of Garas' gang had been contacted and bribed to play Judas, and upon their arrival, they were ambushed by soldiers. Jack wasn't stupid, he could see plainly that they were outnumbered, so immediately, he holstered his Barak and dropped to his knees, hands behind his head. Garas and many of the others will killed by a wave of searing white fire after they opened up with their own sidearms. Afterwards, Jack was put in shackles, and his gun was disassembled, to "take the snake's fangs away...just in case". The boat he was placed on was bound to Derium.

When he learned of it's destination, Jack set his furious mind on escape and managed to spring the shackles with a lockpick hidden away on his person, and after killing two guards, leapt overboard, managing to make it back to the city. Almost all of the remaining gold in his wallet was spent on a ticket straight the hell out of there...
