Valdis

Name: Valdis Pala Arnardottir
Age: 21
Race: Half human/half elf
Hair Color: Reddish-brown
Eye Color: One eye is blue, the other is cloudy white
Height: 5'2"
Weight: 119 lbs
*Occupation: local healer, herbwoman

*Personality: Valdis tends to come off as a sky, soft-spoken young woman to those to who don't know her, as well to many of those who do. However, on the inside she has a backbone of steel, and doing things such as threatening those under her protection as a healer is going to bring it out. She is quietly stubborn, and is hard to convince of something when she thinks otherwise.

Appearance: Valdis is a tiny woman, with a fair complexion that burns very easily. Reddish brown hair left long enough to tie back, but not long enough to get in the way, leaving her face, and her startling eyes clear. While one eye is the normal blue color, the other is a cloudy white, showing that she is blind. If one looks close enough, there is a faint scar that runs from her eyebrow, down across the eye, to the bridge of her nose. She is most frequently seen wearing a dark brown robe, with a leather vest and pants underneath for some protection.

History: Valdis was raised primarily by her human father Arnar, right next to The Docks of Scara Brae. As a result, Valdis has known how to swim almost as soon as she could walk, since her father was a fisherman on one of the larger fishing vessels. As soon as she was old enough to watch after herself, he would leave her alone for days at a time so he could go to work, and as a result had the run of the docks along with all the other fishingfolk's children.
When she was 9 years old, she was chasing a cat with the intent of making it a pet, and made the mistake of cornering the creature. As a result, she lost the vision in her left eye, when it raked it's claws across her face.

At the age of fifteen, the old woman two doors down found that she had some aptitude in the healing arts, and trained her in both the magical and herbal aspects of it. As a result, she is now able to heal most major wounds with a combination of magic and herbs, though some are beyond her scope. She also learned that the same power that she drew from to heal, could be drawn from to protect herself. She was walking to meet her father fresh off the boat, when a man who was drunk tried to corner her. She raised her hands to slap his face, and produced a light bright enough to blind him and allow her to run.

When she turned twenty-one, she decided to set out to she what she could of the world, before she lost the chance.

Skills:
[Healing] She has been able to heal everything she has encountered so far, with the use of magic, herbs or a mix of both. However, the worst wound she has encountered and completely healed so far has been a rather nasty cut from a knife slipping from skinning a fish. Otherwise, she does what she can with her herbs and practical skills and hopes for the best.
[Light] [I]She is able to create bright flashes of light, though it is unknown whether she could actually hold them. It is possible that she could do damage with this, but she has never tried, nor is she willing to try.
[Climbing] If there is a handhold or a rope attached to it, she can climb it, partly due to her size, and partly due to the fact that in her case it wasrun and hide, or get hurt.

Equipment: An oaken staff about an inch taller than she is, and a pair of blackthorn sticks that she can use for defense if she can't get to her staff.
Small pouch containing different-sized needles, cat-gut sutures, some of the more familiar herbs, a small pair of scissors, a small steel knife, and a small bottle of distilled alcohol that is wrapped in several layers of wool.

*Familiars: A rather large dog of unknown ancestry named Bear that stands about chest height on her. She found him as a puppy and has had him ever since.

Please change the healing so that you can heal minor wounds with magic and herbs, and everything else takes natural time. I'll allow you to be able to stop a person from dying from like.. bloodloss and whatnot from non-vital wounds, but other than that the healing itself should take the normal amount of time required for a body to heal. At this level, anything more than magical related healing being allowed over a little bit of time (say an hour or so) for minor wounds would be too much.

I'm also going to assume that "blackthorn sticks" is something equivalent in strength to oak? Just named something else... correct?

blackthorn is about the same as oak, strengthwise, they just hurt a bit more due to the fact that they are knotted. As for the healing, I can do that, but I do have one one question. Because of the level, can she give major wounds a small nudge to help it along, or not at the moment?

Yeah, that's fine. I didn't mean you couldn't heal anything, lol. I just meant that magically, instead of naturally with herbal assistance, you shouldn't be able to heal major wounds or anything. I wouldn't make you unable to assist with more pressing wounds with herb's, just that they can't be healed outright or quickly by your current level of magic or herbs alone.

Approved. Welcome to the site!
