View Full Version : The Grass Is Greener (Quest)

Dark things move in the woods of Corone, corruption given spiritual form and instilled with a desire to bring the power of nature to it's knees. Although the druids of Concordia and the Nina fight to keep the forest's circle of life eternally spiralling, sometimes, the battle takes toll on it's indigenous peoples, and outsiders are allowed to stumble into the brambles and thorns to do battle, with word, wit and song, with the dark fauns and spirits of the woods.

Thus you find yourself or selves, called by some twist of fate into Concordia's green embrace, a simple song of Brachia's Thorn forming a melody in your mind like a siren's song. The Autumnal Queen cackles at the though, all the desire and destruction in the world, and the Nina conjure you?

---

All welcome, all and sundry, this is a quest Idea I've had in my head for a while and I just needed the right character to use as a mini GM of sorts. Essentially, it's a call to arms kill the baddy sort of quest, nothing too exciting, although you can expect to intermingle with druidic sorts, the good earth fearing folk of the deep woods of Concordia. I'd prefer a non evil, non fire based creature, someone likely to aid the Nina in their fight with the angry forest spirit Bracchia, calm her to slumber once more, and you will be rewarded.

Fancy talking with the gods of nature, conversing with spirits older than the sun itself?

All levels and all genders invited...

If you go down to the woods today ;)

Might be interested in this, though I'm not too sure about posting frequency. I usually keep to my main account, but I thought this guy could be a decent fit into your story. If you're expecting frequent posting though, I'd rather not get your hopes up. Once a week, with the occasional twice, is probably all that I can manage.

That's fine with me Papa, with all of my other activity I maintain on the board, (Duffy/Abhorrash/Ruby/Cydnar) once a week is dandy. I'll give it a day or so before posting the intro to the thread, a link to which will be posted here to give the go ahead - welcome aboard doctor!

(Inkfinger, I assume?)

I be Ataraxis, mon, and we be jammin' soon, yeh.

No one actually talks like that.

Ah-ha! I've been wanting to pluck up the courage to ask you to rp with a humble little bard boy for a while now, and here you are tumblin' onto my lap all snug; righto - anyone else want in on the amble through the DEATH forest? Just drop us a line, it'll stay open for a while even after posting begins.

To the trees Batman!

EDIT: Downside to multiple accounts - you keep posting with the wrong one!

Heck, I'd be sending half the people here requests myself if I had more free time, you included Duffy. And Inky too: never got a chance to actually write with you, even if we've posted in the same IC thread before. How weird is that?

I'll be looking forward to the forest of doom and magic mushroom gathering.

I'd love to join this, sounds interesting and Izvilvin could already be in Concordia. Communing with nature seems to be something he could work well with, since he isn't much for words and is more of a 'feeling character'.

Also writing with Ataraxis again would be like a sweet karma bonus or something.

Also post in our battle >=(

Hehe, interesting to have you aboard fellow, sorry for the lack of post in the battle too - lots of threads at once, things tend to got lost in the ether. Have my word you're what I'm working on next sir!

Solid, bra.

How would a Druidess sound to you? It would seem to fit in your plot perfectly.

Duffy

Eeek! Excellent! I wasn't expecting so much interest, but look at all us nature types crawling out of the woodwork ;) (Pun intended.)

Welcome aboard Valanthe!

Valanthe

I beg your pardon, I did not crawl out of the woodwork, I slithered out of the woodwork. Snakes tend to do that you know. :)

Alright, sounds good. I should have a post by tonight or tomorrow, but if anyone wants to get the first reply, I'd have no problem stepping back.

Are these "gathered strangers" supposed to be us quest-goers? Because if so it seems as if this post should take place in the middle of the quest after we've all come together through our actions. I mean I can write myself to this point in one post if you want, but it seems awfully rushed. I had planned on spending a few posts explaining how Izvilvin got to where he is now, how he notices changes in the forest, and then how he goes from there to investigate what's going on... etc.

If I'm mistaken about the gathered strangers in the first post then I apologize.

Feel free to do so Iz, if everyone spends 2-3 posts 'arriving' it'll stretch the thread out too long in my eyes, if it's the general consensus that you'd rather all do it that way, by all means do, I'm sure you've all done the X arrives at Y before, let's mix it up a little :D

Izvilvin
11-19-09, 01:07 PM
Okay. Iz will meet up with the group in a few posts.

Izvilvin

I decided to just bring him up to speed. Let's doo eet.

I, Valanthe, will have a post up tomorrow.

I thought I recognised you :p

We need to come to consensus as to what time it is currently in the quest. I didn't notice a mention in the opening post setting the time of day, but the presence of a fire made me think it was at least evening, so I mentioned in my post that it was around sundown. Others have mentioned that it's noon so I'd like to clear that up. Very sorry if I missed something in the opening post!

Papa Dagon

Corrected. I went by the 'midday sun' in your first paragraph, after forgetting you used 'eve's twilight' in your seventh.

Izvilvin
11-23-09, 02:14 AM
I'm bad at being clear anyhow. Just wanted us all to be on the same page :p

Duffy
11-23-09, 02:33 AM
Daylight would be very week anyhow, although we're not too deep into the forest yet, the canopy is fairly dense here, with slight smattering of sun - in a few leagues, it'll be so dark you'll wet your knickers :D

Valanthe
11-23-09, 07:51 AM
So, noon, evening?

Duffy
11-23-09, 09:02 AM
Oh, ermm, Noon. :p

Izvilvin
11-23-09, 02:27 PM

Aaaand re-correcting.

Duffy

Lol, it's not that important.

*Feels terribly inept.*

Edit: Post will come after I've dealt with some proppa wotsit moderatin' stuff.

Oh, and a dissertation proposal presentation :S

Jennifer Oakley
11-25-09, 11:10 AM
Post done :D

Valanthe

I hope your Dissertation got an A+!

And in less important matters:

WOOHOO! I can post now!

Duffy

This is just the proposal, lol, the writing and research starts now, due in one year 9 months :S

Valanthe
11-26-09, 08:42 AM
Allow me to rephrase that then.

I hope your Dissertation gets an A+.

Duffy
