As I was traveling through the city, preparing for my party to leave and go adventuring, I realized that I would need a steed, preferably a mount that could fly. I immediately went searching for an exotic animal stable, and found one not two streets over. I opened the door, hearing the mounts shuffle thmselves as I entered, the scent of manure so strong to me that I gagged, and almost lost my lunch. I smelled so many different species that I couldn't place a single species. I looked around, searching for the stablekeep. I didn't see him, but I could tell he was there, his human scent unmistakeable in the stable. I spread my wings, letting them relax from keeping them so tight against my back. Humans seemed to react badly to my wings and my body a together, so I tended to hide my wings, because I couldn't do anything about my body. I was six foot seven, and resembled a fox more than anything else, but at a distance was discernable as human. I had a fifteen foot wingspan, dropped down to about five feet wide with the way I had folded them. I hoped that whoever owned this stable wouldn't freak out, but I didn't think he would, with the beasts he had in here.

A young boy in appearance of no older than five appeared from behind a gorgeous white stallion. He had a smile that would melt even the hardest and darkest of hearts, and as he appeared he giggled in a manner than would bring even the most macho of men to their knees. As genuine as his smile and giggle seemed to be, the little boy's voice was the complete opposite.

In a voice as deep and low as the lowest of valleys in the deepest of mountains, he spoke, "Welcome, Miss?"

He took inventory of her person, giving her the once and then twice over. Her appearance was unique to him, and his curiosity got the better of him.

"I must admit I have yet to meet one quite as -- "

He stroked his chin deep in thought, trying to find the right way to frame the words.

"Unique. Yes, unique. I have yet to meet one quite as unique as yourself. I am the Master of these stables. You may call me Justin."

He moved toward her, removing himself from his position behind the stallion to a position much closer to her. He extended a hand and another grin as he waited upon her response.

As this boy/man walked over to me, raising his hand in the human tradition of shaking hands when meeting someone new, I took stock of him. He was young, but appeared old, and his voice was that of someone much older. It was quite odd. And the fact that he had talked to me like I was an experiment. It was insulting at first, but I shook my head, clearing it of these thoughts. I was here for one reason only, to get a mount. Not to lose control of my temper and harm this man. I took his hand and shook it, thinking it odd, the shaking of hands and exchanging of information. My race could tell all about you just by your scent, no need to shake hands.
“My name is Dedalous. A pleasure to make your acquaintance,” I said as he shook. I withdrew my hand, and bowed my head slightly in my races sign of respect. I mentally hit myself in the head, thinking that this could mean anything to him. Humans were so quick to anger, but hopefully he would not take it amiss. “I am hoping to find a steed that can carry me and my equipment, preferably fast, and preferably able to fly.” As I was saying this, I motioned to my wings, making the point. “I usually travel light, in case I need to fly, so weight limits should not be an issue. Money is, though. I am rather strapped for cash at the moment, so I may not be able to pay for a flying mount, but I would be willing to settle for a fast horse or some other creature. Could you help me?” I smiled at him after I said this, showing too many teeth on accident. Again, I mentally hit myself over the head, and retracted the smile, seeming more shy than anything else.

OOC: Sorry for the delay...

The young boy looked at the woman before him and nodded. This time his voice gave off a youthful ring as he spoke, "You're so beautiful!" He smiled and blushed a bit at his comment of her beauty. He giggled in that same child-like manner.

"You want Whisper then. She's quiet, but the fastest I have. She doesn't fly, but I don't see a problem there. She'll cost you just two hundred gold, too."

The little boy smiled and looked up at her in expectation.

Damn, I couldn't afford two hundred gold on a horse, I still needed to buy trail rations, and I needed money for inn stays, all told totaling at least a hundred gold. I needed to either find a cheaper horse, or convince this boy/man to drop the price. I figured I could find a cheaper horse, but it would take too long. So that left bartering. I looked towards where he pointed, and saw a beautiful white horse, her shoulder level with mine. She was sleek and slender, looking more like a gust of wind than a horse. She was rather obviously built for speed, but she still looked strong and graceful. I turned to the boy, and said to him, “I can’t really afford two hundred gold, would one fifty be acceptable? I’m getting ready to leave on a long trip, and I still need to buy supplies and pay for room and meal on the way. I only have two hundred, so that would leave me completely broke if I had to pay that much. Please take pity.” I smiled at him again, this time remembering to not show so many teeth. I really hoped that he would be willing to drop the price for me, because I needed a horse, and my party needed me. And I couldn’t help them if I didn’t have any money to pay for my portion of the trip.
