History:
Samuel, or the Bird Boy as he is often referred to, since his days as a toddler, has been a notable person in the town of Underwood and it's surrounding forests. There are no records of his birth, nor does anyone from the tiny town know where he came from or who his parents were. He was simply noticed one day- an excitable toddler playing with the street pigeons in his birthday suit. The town's orphanage attempted many times to bring the young boy in. When they offered him a place to stay, he laughed at them and simply said, "No thank you". When they tried to bring him in forcefully, he made a game of it, always managing to elude the guards.
As the boy grew older, his affinity for the feathered residents of the forest became more apparent. Birds were not simply drawn to him, it was almost as if they understood him, listened to him. Many shop keepers found themselves in shock when a group of sparrows made off with a loaf of bread or a small piece of fruit. Likewise, many travelers were just as dumbfounded when a crow would swoop down and snatch their coin pouches right from their hips. The most elderly and most superstitious of Underwood speculated that the boy may be some kind of forest spirit inhabiting a human body. Generally, however, Samuel is tollerated within the town and most of it's citizens treat him well enough. Some even address him simply as Samuel.
Most assume Samuel to be around nineteen years of age. When people first started noticing him, they approximated that he was between four and five years old. It has been fifteen years since his first sighting, and he still does generally the same things he did back then- plays with birds, teases the town guard, and maintains a loose, generally friendly relationship with the town and it's residents.
Appearance:
Samuel is a slender, pale boy. He is not very tall, but not short. He could be described as lanky, as his limbs are long and he is quite thin, but he is not sickly in appearance. He is often mistaken to be albinistic due to the lightness of his hair and the fairness of his skin, but his clear blue eyes do away with that assumption. His white-blonde hair is about shoulder length, board straight and very messy.
Strangely enough, though he is not known to have a permanent home and is most often seen wandering the dirty streets of Underwood, or the dusty roads of Concordia, he always appears to be extremely clean, much like a porcelain doll. Not a smudge or scratch can be found anywhere on him. Not even on his clothes, which, to everyone's knowledge, he never changes.
Personality:
If Samuel were to be described in word would, that word would be playful. Always smiling, always laughing- he walks with a bounce in his step and a song in his voice. Though he does engage in thievery, he does so out of necessity. A boy has to eat. He treats his thievery as a game, however, often making it obvious that he is up to something, if only to coax the guards into playing a game of 'chase' with him.
Samuel is a suprisingly clever and knowledgeable boy, especially because, as far as anyone knows, he has never had any kind of schooling. He possesses a quick wit and a boyish charm that turns many of the town girls red. He even goes so far as to flirt with some, though this, like many of his antics, is generally innocent- He sees it as yet another game he can play.
His only true connections have been with those of the birds with which he communes. When he speaks they listen and when they sing he understands their songs. He exchanges stories with them and shares with them his most personal feelings and secrets and in turn they tell him of their lives and of the many things they have witnessed. It is a bond of mutual trust, one that he shares with no human.
Skills/Abilities:
Volucris Narrosis - For reasons unknown to him, Samuel has the ability to communicate with birds. When he speaks to them, they understand his words, and when they sing to him he understands their songs. Because of this, he is able to 'control' the birds. It is not control, exactly, for he does not command them to do anything, rather he asks them to do so, and they oblige. Whatever favor he asks, whether it be to steal something or to spy on someone or even to attack someone, they are more than happy to do so. His influence is strong and governs small birds and some larger ones, such as crows and buzzards. Birds of prey, such as hawks and falcons are harder to influence, as they are very stubborn and prideful. Owls too are hard to control. Their wizened eyes have seen the cruelty of man and they are hesitant to trust any human, even Samuel.
The smaller birds are easier to control, and as such Samuel is able to influence two or three of them. The larger birds however take more effort on his part, so he can only control one at a time.
Acrobatics/Athletics - Samuel is deceptively light weight. This is because of the strange nature of his bones. They are hollow and very light, much like those of birds. They are very strong, however, no weaker than the bones of a normal human being. Because of this, Samuel is very agile and very athletic. He moves faster than normal humans (1.5 x) and does so with less effort. His years spent evading sword-wielding guards has molded him into a very capable sprinter and free runner. Do to the hollow nature of his bones, however, Samuel is more susceptible to blunt force damage.
Reconnaissance - Though he has no formal training in scouting, Samuel has spent much of his life spying on others for fun and as such has gained moderate reconnaissance skills. He has keen powers of observation and can gather quite a bit of information about a person simply by watching them. His influence over birds plays a large part in this skill as well, as he can simply ask a bird to spy on someone and report back to him afterward.

Head - On his head, Samuel wears a dark green wool cap, his messy blonde hair protruding out from underneath.
Torso - Samuel has always been seen wearing a loose fitting, white collared shirt. It is made from cotton and is kept buttoned up.
Legs/Feet - Samuel wears a pair of loose, dark brown pants, secured in place by a small rope. He wears no shoes.
