The Divide

Name: Cero Greiverton
Age: 25 years old
Sex: Male
Hair: Brilliant Silver
Eyes: Marine blue
Race: Saosian
Alignment: Neutral
Description:
Cero's is no more than six foot tall and of slim build, weighing around 197lbs. His hair is brilliant silver and flows in thick, tangled bangs across and behind his head, accentuating his somewhat piercing and icy blue eyes and helping to project a particularly intimidating look towards those that gaze upon him.
His attire consists of a three quarter length white, buttonless and black trimmed greatcoat, tailored to fit his shoulders and chest but also designed to flow outwards from the waist down, and a pair of white trousers, complete with black boots.
This appearance is typical of a Saosi captain, someone considered within the Rift (the dimension incorporating Saosi itself) to be a figure of authority or respect. In Cero's case he is neither, as he is actually ranked lower than a captain and directly serves the Seer Council, a faction serving under the Supreme Regent, but his power and strength among the Saosians is enough for him to warrent the uniform without question.
Indeed, even though he is only on par with the weakest tier of those on Althanas, this strange new realm of which he has discovered, he is actually one of the strongest fighters in the realm of the Rift of Saosi, whose citizens are comparatively weak to those of Althanas.
Weapon: Jigoku Izanami
The weapon Cero wields is a somewhat different type of armament wielded exclusively by the Saosi soldiers, named a "Senkai" weapon. A Senkai is essentially a weapon composed of highly concentrated spirit particles that have bonded together and created a weak life force.
The weapon a Senkai becomes, and its abilities, is dependant on the Saosian wielding it, and once a Senkai has chosen its form, the transformation is permanent. Senkai are, on a base level, living spirits that have not yet progressed to evolving further, but each Senkai does have a name.
Cero's Senkai is called Jigoku Izanami. Jigoku Izanami, when tamed by Cero many centuries ago, chose to become a straight, single bladed Katana that does not curve to a point like most Katana do. It is crafted from compressed spiritual energy called Ran, which although is quite light to wield, is not any more resilliant than its human counterpart, steel. Ran bonds are particularly easy to seperate with large doses of spiritual energy and during intense fights it is not unusual for weapons crafted from Ran to break. If a Ran weapon breaks, it becomes unusable until the Ran bonds have been fully restored. This takes one full day to accomplish.
Senkai also have three known forms, listed below.
Senkai:
The first form, Senkai, is the weapon in its first chosen state. It does not carry additional powers or abilities, and acts like an inanimate object should. There is no difference between Jigoku Izanami and a normal sword in this form, other than name.
Hyaku:
The second form of a Senkai is Hyaku. Activating Hyaku allows a Saosian to release a Senkai's sealed powers, thus allowing the Senkai to reach its full potential, and true form. This can range from giving the Saosian in question access to previously locked powers such as magic, to changing the form of the weapon completely, or a mixture of both.
Unfortunately for Cero, travelling to Althanas through the Oku gate caused him to weaken significantly and thus his Hyaku skill "Kirohitsugi" is unusable until he has regained some of his strength.
Rei:
The third form of a Senkai is Rei, after Hyaku. Being able to activate Rei is a special priviledge reserved only for high ranking Saosians, and only those capable of achieving a fully matured Rei are ever considered for promotion beyond standard ranks. Possessing a Rei also grants its wielder recognition and social status within Saosi. In Rei form, a Senkai manifests itself into a more powerful version of the Hyaku, and adds more previously restricted abilities to the repetoire of the original Hyaku release. Known Rei abilities from the few that have managed to achieve this level range from regeneration, limited flight and even physical form changes, but not all Rei are beneficial, nor do all Rei suit the style of the Saosian wielding it.
Cero has never attempted to master Rei, and thus, having only used the skill once very, very quickly and at a much more limited level, his Rei skill "Jigoku Shin Geki" is completely sealed off to him at the moment.
Skills:
Swordsmanship: As Cero has trained with Jigoku Izanami for many years, he is able to wield and use his Senkai with the skill of a trained warrior. His approach to swordsmanship is balanced between offense and defense, and he prefers to fight against opponents of equal grounding to himself or stronger.
Senkai Arts: Senkai arts are spells used by Saosians to do various things such as binding, attacking, defending and healing. Only upper level Saosians can use them after sufficient training. If a Saosian masters Senkai arts, they will gain the ability to bypass the incantation while casting spells. Otherwise, only after a successful incantation will a Saosian be able to use the Senkai arts effectively.
Cero's signiture Senkai art is "Hakutaiken". When activated, Jigoku Izanami will charge a small but potent bolt of silver energy into the tip and cutting edge of its blade. If this energy touches the skin of an opponent, or any area with nerves, it will instantly render that particular limb or area paralysed for fifteen seconds.
Hakutaiken is activated with the following incantation:
"All creations of the universe, I call. Reap, Hakutaiken."
Items:
The only item on Cero's person upon arrivng on Althanas is a Ran restoration kit. This is a thin, magically augmented instrument which slowly restores the bonds of broken Ran by recycling spiritual energy in the surrounding air. This can be used for repairing Jigoku Izanami, and performing minor surgeries on Cero's avatar, which can also become damaged over time. This can only be used once per day.
Personality:
In battle:
Cero is a highly respected member of the Saosian people for his strength and determination when serious, but has a tendency to become laid back and uninterested when he feels he is not being challenged. He rarely fought at full power in Saosi, even when ordered to by his superiors, and only knows of a sparse few of the Saosian number which can push him to his full limits. His main challenge in this respect lies within his rival Hadyn Greiverton, his brother and enemy.
Domestically:
Cero, whilst friendly and headstrong, has always had a problem with authority that do not lead by example, and declares his one true goal to give everybody within the Saosi society the freedom to make informed choices of their own, rather than "lick the heels of those who would sell you short the second your back is turned", referring mostly to the small but powerful and corrupt ruling faction of Saosi, the Supreme Regency.
Cero always tries to offer people "the freedom of choice" in situations that require it. He never asks for help, and never gives it without permission. Quite simply, he tries to give people the freedom to choose whether or not they wish to either recieve or give assistance to or from others, and does not interfere with anything unless asked to do so.
History and background:
Saosi:
Saosi is a realm, and a planet, sealed within a dimension known as the Rift, a non-static anomaly behaving much like a wormhole. Essentially, it is on another plane of existence to Althanas where spirit energy is still young, dense and pure, and life thrives stronger than anywhere else in the Universe. It is here that a number of deities reside as they ponder courses of action to take over events in the world of the living, and their faithful servents, the Saosians, take form to help carry out their will.
Role and discord:
The Saosians have human like forms, and are charged with the duty of travelling the omniverse in search of spirit rich destinations with which to create new worlds. As such, they are de-facto "carriers" of life, from one world to the next.
However, even though this was the original role given to them by the gods, and there are those among the Saosian ruling tier, the Supreme Regency, that would use Saosi not to create and ferry new life, but instead bring everything under their control and create an unstoppable empire of control. This small number of Saosi is known as the Haien, or "incinerating flame", a secret puppeteer ruling above even the Supreme Regent himself and an ally of the deity of discord Shyushin. It is the Haien's goal to simply destroy all other life and have the Saosians rule as a single master race.
Cero Greiverton:
Cero Greiverton is a Saosian ambassador and a strong soldier belonging to the Supreme Regent's own squadron. The Haien secretly murdered his father, who they believed was an activist attempting to expose the society for what it really was, and left his mother to die slowly, stricken with grief at the loss of her loved one. The Haien also took Cero's brother, Hadyn, at birth and had him trained as one of them, eventually allowing him to rise within the ranks to the position of "Court Magister", a very powerful and influential post giving him entire command over almost every regiment in Saosi, bar the Supreme Regent's own.
Cero's aim and purpose is to liberate his people, his fellow Saosians, of the Haien and see the Supreme Regent free of the selfish tyranny of the secret society. He also wishes to settle the score with Hadyn once and for all, bringing him back either dead or alive.
