View Full Version : Save Me From Boredom

I can't think of anything at the moment, but let me throw out that I want to do anything at anytime anywhere. Someone get me in on one of your threads, or one of you get in on one of mine. I could post in every one of the threads here but that would be pretty much spamming, so post, PM me, or whatever.

Echo

Haha, I'd love to, as I'm also itching to write.

HOWEVER

1) My character hasn't been approved yet, and..
2) I'm not so sure our characters would.. mesh.. well.

Rayse Valentino
02-07-10, 05:24 PM
Nonsense. Get back to me when you're approved and I'm up for anything, after all it's all worth a try, at the very least.

Also I notice Ataraxis in your sig. I can't get away from her, she has threads everywhere, whereas I can't get any, what is her damn secret?!

Echo

Part of it might be due to the fact that he writes with us (Us being me and chucklecut). And we're crazy bored all the time and hounding him to write with us. Another part might just be his sheer talent attracts people like flies to shit.

Hey I was wondering if the invite was still open?! I am willing to go just about anywhere with this character right now and I don't have much planned for him ICly till he hits at least level 1. I was reading Echo's profile and I thought that the character sounded pretty righteous. Also I've read tons of threads with Rayse and all have been more than enjoyable. Maybe we could get a pretty awesome thread going on. I am not going to boast being a one of the best writers in the forums, because Althanas provides so many great writers, but hopefully we can get something going so I can improve.

Rayse Valentino

Man, I've been asking to do something with him since the beginning of time. I get no love.

Anyway, I sent PMs to both of you, so let's get the ball rolling.

I'm looking for multiple threads, so step it up people! I haven't seen this much activity on the forums in quite some time, and I'll be damned if I don't get in on some of it.

Well, it used to be a gender-ambiguous identity. Thanks a lot, Twy! Kidding.

But nah. And we technically did something twice together, but never really an actual, bona fide thread outside of PG wars and the Bazaar. I didn't know you were interested in one, though.

I don't have any real ideas per se, considering I always assumed that Lillian wouldn't exactly fit in Rayse's storylines and that writing about the politics of Salvar wouldn't be my forte. Still, if you got anything that could work, then I'd be happy to join.

You know, if I wasn't so completely unthreatened by Ataraxis, I'd be pissy over this comment.

Why does everyone assume these things? How many times have I said that I would do LITERALLY ANYTHING?! I don't remember ever saying "I'll do threads with people, BUT IT HAS TO BE ABOUT THE POLITICS OF SALVAR. NOTHING ELSE."

Anyway well now you know, and circlejerk squad you dragged in behind you knows too, Famous Mr. Ataraxis.

A real friend of the people, you are.

This is disturbingly similar to my last recruiting thread experience with Rayse. You've got to keep your lashing out under control if you want to convince people to do a thread with you. Desperation alone isn't enough.

Remember, just because you're willing to do anything with anyone, doesn't mean that people who take their continuity seriously want to just throw in a random person...

Edit: Well, fortunately we can look up to the quote in Saxon's post and see the truth.

That thing about Salvar politics was me explaining why I didn't say anything in that other thread you made, which dealt with the matter specifically. As I understand, what I said afterwards pretty much echoed your 'I would literally do anything' mindset, so yeah.

It was the third time I heard something along the lines of "my character wouldn't work with you, also I'm not going to Salvar." I have no idea where it comes from and it ticks me off to no end. Can you sympathize how I might've misinterpreted your post to mean that? That thread is a totally different thing, my character's involvement isn't even my focus there, so I had no idea you were referring to that.

Anyway, I edited to reflect what I meant. I also request that you edit as well so we can get rid of this trolling that's been following me around lately. I've been ignoring them in my other thread but I draw the line here. I just want to do some RP, y'dig?

I'll drop by on AIM when I'm done studying for my early midterms. If it were just replying to an already established post, I'd do it now, but the planning process takes a lot more out of me than I can afford right now. That should happen around Thursday.

Echo and Black Hand look like they're interested in something much sooner, though, so I think that works out.

Pretty sure that last sentence with the circle jerk squad was a joke.

Anyway, I'd be pretty pissed if I was eager to write, and I was getting constantly told that a thread wasn't possible because a person wasn't sure the characters would mesh. Especially once I'd start getting trolled for it. I think about that time I'd trick someone into a thread and eat their fucking heart just to prove the point.

It came off as kind of harsh, if you ask me. And honestly, I don't recall trolling anyone.

I'm still up for doing a thread, if we can work something out. The only issue I saw, was our characters are two very different people. Ataraxis and I just had a conversation the other day about planning a big fuck-off thread, getting into and having your character think "Oh GOD I can't stand you, g'bye!" and just walking out. It's nothing personal. Characters are different, just as people are. Obviously a HOLIER THAN THOU Priestess of the- whatever, isn't going to get along with a criminal. Just sayin', some things just don't work.

I won't comment on Rayse's foot-in-mouth moment. I have plenty of my own.

Was it bitter? Or did it taste like Taffy?

And I'm up for whatever. My characters run the gamut. Whatever kind of character needed, I have. Alt-itis for the (questionable) win...

Nothing warms my heart like the funeral march of dethroned staff trying desperately to drive a wedge in the community before fading into irrelevance. I hope that doesn't make me a target for Slayer. The heart warming part, that is.

Echo, it's true that, to use the most obvious example, a pacifist and a mass murderer probably wouldn't team up, but for more ambiguous characters it could definitely just come down to an issue of premise. In any case, it's always worth a try, conceptually. Like that idea I shared with Black Hand in PM, if you can't think of a reason your character would be involved then I can't either, so it's better off to just think of something us two could do instead.

I recognize that certain characters are not compatible, but my hunger is insatiable, so I have a few (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=20060) different characters (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=16439) for just such a dilemma (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=19691).(that's 3 links, people)

You got your neutral, your evil, and your good, respectively. Rayse is my more ambiguous character, but if you want some hard-coded alignments, there you go. Like I said, don't be afraid to just throw around some ideas. The thing with me is, it's much easier to have some ideas if I know what I'm dealing with. It's hard for me to shoehorn a character I know nothing about (can only go off their profile really) into a particularly specific concept, but it's much easier to collaborate on a story that fits both characters motivations once we know what they are.

You know, you say you just want to have a peaceful thread to request a partner and when I saw a new post, I thought to myself. "I bet that thread is actually Rayse planning something by now, surely." Alas, you just can't resist throwing in this sort of provocative and inaccurate garbage.

Fortunately I can quickly change this to be accurate.

To the trolls: A bloo bloo bloo.

In other news, Lamjack I sent you a PM. Your profile is kinda slim, I tossed out an idea, but hit me back.

edit: Also I've brought it up in a couple other threads, but there's a couple unfinished concepts if you think it helps:
-Rayse needs a tour guide in Fallien to lead him to some rare plants to cure his magical sickness.
-A small town in Concordia is put into quarantine for an epidemic of a virus, but it doesn't seem like a natural virus, so good guys could investigate it and I would help.

I have some The Company related ideas as well, but I'm sort of waiting on the verdict for the new Salvar before going through with any of that.

Ivory Evil
02-10-10, 07:14 PM
Hey Rayse I would like to do that quarantine idea. I once read a post by Logan where a town was full of crazed cult members and some adventurers were enlisted to figure out what was going on, or something similar. Anyhow I would like to investigate anything, so maybe we can get something going brotha'. But as far as I'm concerned this recruitment thread is turning in to a bunch of talk, lets get this show on the road!!

Echo, it's true, I can't write. To use the most obvious example, I've taken ideas that I overheard and tried to pass them off as my own (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=20345), but, I could definitely just come down and take ideas from you and others, as well. In any case, it's always worth a try, conceptually. Like that idea I took in the link above, if you can't think of a reason to get out of dodge before I do the same to you, it's better off if you just get what's coming to you instead.

I recognize that not everyone will let me take their ideas so easily, but my hunger is insatiable, so I have a few (http://www.althanas.com/world/showpost.php?p=159311&postcount=1) different ideas (http://www.funny-games.biz/images/pictures/657-monkey-heaven.jpg) for just such a dilemma (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plagarism).(that's 3 links, people)

Like I said, don't be afraid to just throw around some ideas. The thing with me is, it's much easier to take some ideas if I know what I'm dealing with. It's hard for me to shoehorn a proposal into Althanas canon if I don't know anything about (can only go off by what you say, so speak in great detail, please) a particular idea you created, but it's much easier to plagarize by collaborating on your creations that fit my agenda, especially if you let me know what they are.

Fun times.

Rayse Valentino

Godhand owns.

I'm probably almost at capacity here. One with Ataraxis and two with that Ivory Evil/BattleMage/etc guy. Well, actually I could do a couple more.

I have a few discarded ideas as well, maybe with the right people they could become something more:
-There's a lot of money at stake, and not a whole lot of time to do something about it. A small team of professionals is hired to do a risky job with a huge potential payoff. However, not everything is what it seems. (If this is going to work, I'm gonna have to be a bit picky with who I want to do it with. Essentially, it requires a decently-leveled criminal/mercenary or two. I forget why Godhand didn't want to do this when I originally proposed it like a year ago, but he was a good candidate, if you want an example of what I'm looking for.)

-Rayse is tipped off about an underground precious metal transport from a high-class Coronian official and goes to hijack it. However, it turns out that the job was a mistake, and the official hires another group to hijack it before Rayse gets there. Bad things happen, but the two groups realize that it was not their mistake, but the official's. Yet the official is well-protected, so how would you get revenge?

>>>This is a variation of what I proposed to Ivory Evil before he decided to retire Black Hand, where he was part of the initial hijacking group, The Black Hand, and the official was one of their main clients, so he was furious and wanted punishment. The Black Hand decided to punish Alex (his character's name) by having him take the fall in a prizefight. However, his opponent was already absurdly strong and would likely beat him senseless in the fight. Alex realizes he has to win the match, because of he gets knocked out he'll get taken away and put out for good. Rayse, however, recognizes Alex from the hijacking, and also realizes what is going on, so he helps Alex win the fight (or Alex wins on his own by sheer luck/desperation) and they both take out their revenge on The Black Hand.

-Smokin' Rayses. I need an HQ, or at least a huge The Company-owned building for this. Until then I can't really do this canonically. It's basically Rayse's past catching up to him with a big bounty put on his head. Since he announces exactly where he's going to be (at the top floor of this building), no tracking is required for any bounty hunters. Multiple people wanted for this. I'm not sure where the urgency comes in that has multiple bounty hunters coming at him at various intervals within a day or so, but there's the main premise. The flavor is the bounty hunters fighting each other to try to get to the top, as well as any possible twists or whatnot.

I'm interested in joining something. i could help with the hijack or something if you're willing.

Rayse Valentino
04-02-10, 04:46 AM
I got another idea.

-Rayse's magical sickness has him waking up in the weirdest places. Sometimes he's in the forests of Underwood, sometimes the deserts of Fallien, but this time he wakes surrounded by a raging blizzard. At first he thinks he's up north in Salvar, but a map in his bag with a dotted line reveals his actual location: deep in Berevar. He starts wandering around, unable to see where he's going, until the ground collapses beneath him and he loses consciousness.

He wakes up in a tropical village with semi-spherical shaped houses populated entirely... by orcs. In Berevar there are many pockets of heat from the planet's core that create large ares of tropical paradise, surrounded on all sides by a mile-high wall. Halfway up the wall is rock, and the half near the surface is all ice. The advanced orcish society, having in their possession automatic guns and electronic devices, live in these areas. The 'sky' above them has a thick, humid mist.

There are many of these heated pockets in the frozen wastes, and they're connected by enormous tunnels. Inside some of these tunnels are entire underground, technological cities. In these cities are elevators that go all the way up- around 200 flights of stairs- to the surface, where they connect with the largest parts of the orcish civilization: the mega-cities. Surrounded by a huge glass dome that protects them from the harsh perpetual blizzard, this is where the heart of the orcish race lives. Possessing machines that control weather, advanced electronics and such, this may be perhaps one of the most technological forces in all of Althanas.

My preliminary idea is due to circumstance, Rayse ends up swept up into this small group of highly-ideological rebels that seek to topple the status quo. To everyone in the cities, they are the bad guys, the terrorists, the miscreants, but to the oppressed orcs living in the underground cities or the borderland tropical villages, they are freedom fighters. I don't plan on having them win, not even close, but I thought it would be interesting.

I can't think of how to include anyone else in this, however. Its complexity has a lot of demands so I would be rather picky, and yet if I had anymore "outsiders" like Rayse it feels like it would dilute the perspective.

Anyway I was just wondering what people thought of all this. They don't have to be orcs- could easily be demons or something else, but I just thought it would be amusing that orcs- a race typically used in RP settings as the dumbest, are the most intelligence and advanced here.

I think I'd fit in rather well with this, all things considered, though how I'd get there, I don't know.
