"Ah, curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!"

Chance WinterSent
Child Prodigy
Fell Human

Physical Description:

Age: 15

Born to Aiden and Alaina Varia, Chance is half Salus on his mother's side, and Half Fell on his father's. Due to his Salus blood, his features are somewhat reminiscent of an Elf's, though without the ridiculous triangular ears. His father's blood is relatively inert in his appearance, only granting him a clearly defined jaw structure. His eyes are an icy blue, bordering on white. His hair is a clean blond. Scars circle his body in strange patterns, leftovers from the time he spent in torture at the hands of his father's murderer.

Height: 65" (5'5")

Weight: 6.4 Stone (90 lbs.)

Personality: Born during a blizzard in Salvar to Aiden DarkStorm and Alaina Varia, Chance WinterSent is twin to Fate, and was born before his sister. This has played a big part in his personality. At any given time, he can sense where his sister is, and has an intense desire to protect his sister at any cost, be it a physical or moral one. He doesn't yet understand the true cost of killing a person, as he has never had to do it. While the Fell Human Blood in him is mostly inert, it has granted him heightened mental maturity. He retains many of the traits of youth, such as curiosity and optimism, but also has many traits more common in adults, such as skepticism and sarcasm. Although due to spending the last eight years or so in a dungeon, being tortured by the man that murdered his father, Chance has become hostile and vengeful. His animosity is incredibly strong, and there are relatively few lines he wouldn't cross for the sake of revenge.

Fully grown, Chance displays many of his father's personality quirks, including what Alaina calls Aiden's "Just hit it until it stops moving" attitude, the only difference being that Aiden takes the physical route, while Chance would rather use his magic to "Blast it until it stops moving."

Inventory:

Prevalida Vambraces (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=7021): Bought at the bazaar shortly before his capture at the hands of his father's murderer. Due to the heat and fire used in his torture they are now seared into his skin, and he is unable to remove them.

Amulet of protection: Given to him by his father, this Amulet is activated only by intense fear and panic in the owner. When such emotions are detected by the magic of the Amulet, a simple shielding spell is activated around the wearer, completely protecting him from harm. Only usable once a thread. The invincibility effect lasts one minute in quests, and one post in Battles.

Crystals: Gained during an adventure (Hunting) with Aiden and Lillian, these crystals will be used to craft magical items in the Cearnaigh Criostal in Dheathain, when they have acquired all the other needed ingredients. The following crystals were found and harvested by Chance.

(X3) Amber Crystal
(X3) Sapphire Crystal
(X3) Quartz Crystal.

Abilities:

Spells:

Ice Shard
Chance WinterSent is able to manipulate Ice. At the moment, this ranges from keeping snow from falling on him, to creating and launching a hand long, finger thick jag of piercing ice. Chance is now able to launch several of these jags at once in a volley.

Ice Shield
Through use of his Ice Magic, Chance is able to craft a shield capable of withstanding a couple of hits before shattering.

Frost Blades
Through use of this spell, Chance is able to craft two scimitars from pure ice. Reinforced by magic, they have the strength of steel and last a moderate length of time.

Frost Armor
With his gift of ice magics, Chance is able to freeze an inner layer of skin to the strength of steel for short periods of time. Though this would normally cause damage to the skin, Chance is able to freeze them in such a way that it doesn't cause permanent damage. Using this spell too many times in too short a time period however will cause permanent damage to his body.

Last Profile: Level Zero (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=6299)

Notes: Yay for returns from multi-year Hiatuses. As ever, willing to change whatever needs to be changed, so long as the spirit of the abilities remains the same.

Welcome back?

Let's see, the bracer's look fine, as does the ice shard expansion. However, you're only at level one, meaning enchanted frost blades and frost armor are probably too advanced. If you're willing to compromise, I'll allow the frost blades provided they are made out of ice without magical enchantment. This means they are useful for stabbing, but will likely be useless against something blunt.

If that works, let me know once you've made the changes.

ooh, speedy response. Awesome.

And not to be combative, but I think you might be over-estimating my intent with the Ice armor. It isn't permanent, and would only absorb one hit in an area before melting. Using it in that same area again isn't possible unless he's okay with the loss of a limb from hypothermia, or something. So in essence, it's an armor he can call up at will, but only in small areas, for short amounts of time. It's actually less useful than a straight iron breastplate. Not to mention it's pretty much his already approved ice shield, except inside his skin.

As for the blades, Can you define enchantment? Would you consider the "strength of steel" bit to be an enchantment? For my purposes, I'm envisioning them being able to be used as any sword could be... they'd be kinda useless if they shattered when used to block another incoming sword. But then, that might have been what you meant about the blunt weapon thing... I'm sorry, it's 1 AM here, and I'm tired and my brain isn't working.

And yeah, sorry for the whole backtalk bit. I'll change whatever I need to... but I kinda need you to tell me exactly what wording you want in it. And thanks for the welcome back. :P

It's not back talk, you have every right to be concerned about my proposed limitations.

Just so you know, we've recently changed RoG procedures related to updates. We're limiting their scopes considerably. This isn't to infringe on creativity, but rather to encourage usage of the bazaar and other features. If you're looking for something equal to two steel swords, it might be easier to buy two swords from the bazaar.

With respect to the armor: freezing the inner layer of skin, and being struck bluntly will probably destroy that layer and cause more inner muscular/organ damage than getting struck normally. At this point, it should have the strength of ICE, not steel. The two aren't even on the same wavelength. If that's what you want, I have no problems with that ability.
