Books and scrolls were scattered in a chaotic bedlam all about the group of students. In a plato-esque environment, the students of the Mage's Guild worked day and night to decipher the ancient texts pre-dating the Demon War of Althanas. Most importantly, that Demon War in history's pages was noted as the First Age of Darkness. Magically enhanced candles were glowing with the warm light of the Arkanos Arts. These were placed in a very specific configuration. Lighting the room with sufficient lighting and warmth, the students of the Mage's Guild could work with efficiency. The turning of pages and the soft murmuring of of students talking in the chamber as they worked was the only set of sounds next to the fire crackling in the fireplace. One of the students, the Overmage, Jotham Archanex, was busily researching a very specific series of tomes. Not the tomes of various spells or simple incantations, but rather, a tome dictating the Ancient's knowledge of a powerful artifact known as The Prime Grimoire. Jotham had been fascinated by this set of research for many moons now and worked diligently to attempt to discover the location of the ancient device.

Turning the pages slowly, this was amongst the Overmage's first set of major studies for the Mage's Guild. Attempting to unearth the secrets of the past was one of the primary duties of the organization. Small teams of researchers often went to complete these tasks for the Mage's Guild, attempting to locate the devices of the ancients. Most importantly, they attempted to unravel any clues about the current whereabouts of the missing Thayne; Khal'jaren the Sage. Ever since Xen'Zund took Raiaera by siege, the elder Thayne had gone missing from his temple in The Black Desert.

Commissioning the members of the Mage's Guild to do various forms of research on the Thaynehood and the Thayne's artifacts, the Mage's Guild put its best Magi to good use. Amongst those Magi was Jotham, who was specifically researching the device known as The Prime Grimoire. As a vocation for the Mage's Guild, the Overmage had studied the ancient's Druidic Runeology. The text he was reading was largely written in that form of writing. Druidic was a dialect set up by the wandering nomads of the ancients of Scara Brae. Well over a thousand years ago. Druidic was one of the earliest languages in Scara Brae and had a deep history with the occult arts and mysticism.

With his eyes squinting into thin slits, the Overmage was struggling to translate the ancient script. The words were confusing, even for a Magi of his knowledge but there were clues hidden in the text. The ancient texts dictated that The Prime Grimoire was located somewhere in Scara Brae. The ancients called Scara Brae something else entirely. S'Kadulla Bryskae.

Jotham already had a pain in his neck from the uncomfortable position he sat in. Despite their best attempts to make their members comfortable, even the most advanced Arkanos Arts could not tell the body that it was tired, and exhausted. Suffering from the late signs of fatigue, the Overmage continued to obsess over the details in the pages he read. The tome had been a critical find in his research of The Prime Grimoire.

Finally, when the Overmage's body could take the pain no longer, the Overmage's eyes began to close themselves. Which was a rare sign for such an individual as he slept comfortably with both eyes open. When he was ready to call it a night, he closed the old tomes of his research and took the works with him. He had the strength to wave good bye to a few of the other students who were also feeling the effects of fatigue. Jotham manged to barely make it to his bed-chambers and was asleep before he even slid into the bed...

A time later, the Overmage found himself standing outside of the Mage's Guild. Looking at the building one last time, the Overmage was ready to begin his adventure. A commission to local establishments was set up by the Mage's Guild and all matters were in order. Now, Jotham needed some help outside of the Mage's Guild and he would be perfect...

Fate was a fickle mistress indeed.
