Basic Information:

True Name: Ygtrasi`Ymir

Race: Shinigami

Age: “I stopped keeping track a few eons back”

Gender: Genderless. [Will be referred to as ‘he’ in this profile simply for convenience]

Shinigami Information:

Shinigami Racial Attributes:

Expiration Date: Shinigami can, by nature, see the time a mortal has left in life over their head simply by looking at them. It is part of their eye’s physiology. Even with in another body, they still keep their Shinigami eyes.

Eternal Lifespan: Shinigami are nearly immortal. They can die, but only if they are very lazy. Whenever a Shinigami kills a mortal, they gain that mortal’s remaining time alive. If a mortal is destined to die when they are 90, and the Shinigami kills them at 60, the Shinigami will live for another 30 years despite any injury. If a Shinigami runs out of years, they will fall from their realm and become a mortal, gaining their own ‘time to die’ and will live through a mortal life, and will have lost all of their Shinigami memories and abilities. However, another Shinigami can restore a Shinigami to their true nature simply by touching another Shinigami’s Death Note. This lifespan refers to their immortal soul, their true Shinigami form. Their true form can never die, but also cannot be seen or touched by mortal beings, as Shinigami cannot touch mortal beings in turn unless in a Golem.

Wings of the Harbinger: Shinigami, by nature, have wings. Whether in a golem form or their true form, their wings can be manifested from the dark energies. It takes up the soul energies stored in their Death Note to summon the wings when in a golem, yet the wings are fully functional. They have the same properties as the dark energies he summons, which means if touched by holy power or a holy creature they will be badly damaged, possibly even dispelled. Unlike the dark energies, however, daylight does not effect them much, but he can fly higher and faster at night, and for a longer amount of time. During the day, he can probably reach 3 stories flying straight up, and maybe get 10 miles before becoming exhausted. It is [1.5] times that at night. Due to being made of dark energies, his wings can act as a protective barrier then they are summoned. Regenerating the wings will take more soul energy, and it takes 2 full souls to summon both wings each time. The more souls he pours into the wings, the stronger they get. Due to his lack of experience in the Mortal realm for such a long time, Ymir can only bring 4 souls into the creation of his wings, making them as strong as iron. When dispelled, the souls put into the wings will be shattered, unusable for any other purpose.

Shinigami Abilities:

Death Note: The Death Note is the center of power for Shinigami. It is a power that rests in their soul and appears as a weapon of some sort when summoned. The Death Note contains the souls and lifetime of the Shinigami. The weapon itself is forged from the souls, and is more powerful when there are more souls inside it. It can cut through both material and spiritual. Ymir’s Death Note is currently as strong as iron, for he has yet to replenish his reservoir of souls. As he isn't very familiar with the constraints of mortal souls yet, his Death Note cannot get stronger then iron no matter how many souls are in it at this point. As he remembers more about the physics of this realm, he will be able to ascertain higher levels of ability with this weapon. The Death Note itself appears as whatever he wants it to appear as, but is limited to being a weapon of some sort. No matter what it appears as, he will have moderate proficiency in it. However, if he picks up a weapon that isn't the Death Note, then he won't have any understanding in it. Anyone that is bonded to him will have the same ability to be proficient with any weapon summoned as the Death Note if this ability is transfered. [This is considered Ymir’s main weapon]

Nobody else can wield the Death Note unless they are bonded and have exchanged that power. It can maintain its form when not touching the Shinigami only if they concentrate on it, and once they lose focus the weapon will dissolve to be summoned again.

The Death Note cannot become anything huge, and must be a weapon that doesn't involve active technology, must be one piece, and must be hand-held or touching him in some way. A catapult would be out of the question.

Golem Body: When a Shinigami comes to the Mortal Realm they can take bodies of recently dead and use the flesh to create a body for themselves. The body will be a soulless golem that can look like whatever they want, but must have the same or less mass then the original body. More mass can, of course, be added with other bodies, but they must be within a week of death. When the body dies, and if the Shinigami has more lifetime left, the Shinigami will simply be forced back to their realm and must construct a new body. This takes some time to find fresh bodies, so return to the mortal realm will be slightly delayed. Their true bodies are simply spirit forms, and can look like absolutely what they want, but they often have preferred genders and forms. Ymir likes diversity.

Despite what body he makes, whether it is a small child or a large man, he always has the strength of an average well-built human. This is only so because he hasn’t gathered many souls or lifetimes yet.

Dark Magic: Shinigami have a natural affinity to dark magic. They use the souls they have gathered as fodder for their spells. Ymir has, however, not learned much in the way of the black arts. The best he can do so far can summon a small orb of dark energy. With this, he can do many things. He can create a small organism, like an imp, or a small object. The energy is the size of a large softball, so anything he forms with it must have the same mass. Ymir can manipulate the energies however, not needing to touch them to move them, so they come to great use. He, however, cannot expel them forward at great speed unless he throws or launches them someway using manpower or another object. The dark energies has a natural affinity to light, and will weaken in potency if used during the day or if used against holy magic. It will be nullified by a direct hit of holy magic or the touch of a holy creature. Ymir can use this ability only once per soul captured in the Death Note. Ymir can hold the form of the dark energies as long as he wants, but the farther they get from his body, the less powerful and corporeal they become. They will wink out of existence after a mile.

As a side effect of his affinity to dark magic, he can also sense dark magic or corruption in other creatures. When a spell is cast, he will get a vague impression of how close and in which direction, and also how strong it was. Kind of like a ripple in the water.

Death Bonds: Shinigami can make a pact with a mortal creature. The pact is can be temporary or permanent, and has several levels. The most extreme would be a permanent soul-bonding between the two beings, in which their powers and souls become almost interchangeable. The least extreme is a simple, temporary exchange of powers. The pact maker gains one of the Shinigami’s abilities, while the Shinigami gains one of the pact maker’s abilities. If they have nothing to offer, then they simply take an appropriate amount of the pact maker’s total lifespan for their own. This is truly for their own amusement, for they often have little use of another’s abilities.

Soul Stealing: When a mortal being is slain by a Shinigami, two things can occur. The first is listed above, the stealing of lifetime. However, at the same time, a Shinigami can take the soul of the person and store it in their Death Note, using the soul as fodder for their spells. All souls are identical when it comes to the Shinigami dark magicks. (More often then not, the soul must be collected in the current quest or have been a spoil of a previous quest in which Ymir didn’t use all the souls he collected. The spoils aren’t truly a “spoil” simply an after effect that needs to be noted and will be kept consistent in my signature. The number of souls he has at the beginning of a quest will determine how many he can use during that quest. All that is required to steal a soul is a touch on the dead body of a victim killed recently by the Shinigami. A person that has been killed by someone can have their soul stolen, but not their lifetime. [Ymir currently has 25 years and 1 soul in his reservoir. This will be mentioned in his History]

History:
Extreme Boredom:

Ymir, have you ever gotten bored up here? Look around you; a barren wasteland stretches before you in all directions forever. Death is all that’s left, and not even active death, just the remains it leaves behind. We live on the souls of the mortal realm, yet where is the fun we used to have?

You are so bored you are talking to yourself…

Looking up, the Shinigami stared down from his ebony cliff at the dreary landscape before him. Two Shinigami were playing a strange game involving skeleton bones that had been invented eons ago to pass the spare time. It had been ages since any of them had traveled to the Mortal Realm for a long period of time for any reason other then to advance their lifetime. Suicide among their kind, which was done by not filling their Death Note with the lifetime of a mortal, was becoming all too common. The Shinigami lived on though, new ones of their kind appearing from seemingly nowhere to replace the gone. Yet, this Shinigami was tired, exhausted.

He understood why some decided to have a mortal life in exchange for release from boredom… Even a mortal death.

Glancing at the nearby twins, he spoke up for the first time in a century. Having sat there, without a word, for the 112 years he had until only 8 left on his last lifetime gathering, a single sentence sparked concern in his fellows. Well, at least enough concern for them to perk up their ears and listen to the Shinigami that was weird enough to take the appearance of a little human girl. Her voice, though a childish whine, told of ages of wisdom and dark deeds done in humor.

“I’m bored.”

The two kept rolling their rat skulls, acknowledging yet ignoring the comment. Even after the Shinigami summoned a portal and dropped through it into the Mortal realm, they barely even noticed. It was none of their concern of a Shinigami did something stupid. They had no greater power to answer to, and didn’t need to watch over their fellows. Selfishness was all they needed.

That…and something to do.

Thus, after three hours of being in the mortal world -once more in the body of a girl, only 14 years old and rather short for that age-, Ygtrasi`Ymir was already laughing privately at the interesting lives of mortals. Watching with humor the bickering fight between a shopkeeper and a thief, boredom was finally relieved…somewhat. Already she had slain a young man who only had 25 years left anyways, and had the fun of having the body being found and being the only one near the scene that wasn’t even considered a witness. Their naïveté was astounding. Laughing as she watched the conclusion of the confrontation, a hard apple in the thief’s face, the little girl sighed on her chair, a wicked smile growing on her face.

“Hehehe…humans are a riot.”

Welcome! Interesting character, I only have a few things to note…

~~Eternal Lifespan~~ “the Shinigami will live for another 30 years despite any injury”. Personally I assume that “despite any injury” is referring to mortal wounds, such as sword attacks and such. That needs to be changed to something like… another 30 years against the deterioration of time. From what I can assume, that little blurp alone means that your character can’t die… at all. And immortality’s cool, but if you get stabbed through the heart with a sword, it’s over. Maybe you can come back to life, or something like that, but not dying is too powerful.

This is, of course, unless this Eternal Lifespan only pertains to the form of the original Shinigami. If that is so, and pertains to that realm and not the realm of Althanas, then that is fine. I assume that much from your Golem Body ability.

~~Soul Stealing~~ You say that a mortal must be “slain by a Shinigami”. Does that mean golem form, or your actual form? You may want to clarify, since if it is when you are acting as a golem then its fine. If you are doing it as a Shinigami then I stress the previous question posed.

~~You flight is ok, as long as you do not use it in a battle unless your opponent agrees that you can beforehand. Also, at night, make it so that it is only 1.5 times as strong as day to be fair. That includes fighting in quests against other PC's.

~~Other then that you should clarify a bit as to what exactly your ‘weapon’ is. You tell me what it can do, but not what it is. I get that it is used as an offensive ability, but what exactly does it manifest itself as? Does it show up as a sword? A spear? Does it even look like an actual weapon? And I don’t want you to be able to put as many souls as you want into it, making it as hard as adamantium at level 0. So, please put some limit on it, like you can’t add souls to make it stronger then anything but steel or something along those lines…

Okay, I've edited it a bit.

~ The Eternal Lifespan only pertains to his true Shinigami form, which I edited in 'Cannot touch or be touched by mortals, and cannot be seen by mortals unless bonded'.

~That, in essence, also nullifies out the fact that Shinigami kill people in their true form, they have to do the killing in a Golem.

~Appropriate edits to flight made.

~I can't believe I forgot to mention that. There is a little extra about the Death Note. I edited this in, but you need to approve it. The Death Note can become any weapon, limited only by the wielder's imagination, and the special ability of the Death Note that makes it different then normal weapons is that no matter what it becomes, the wielder will have a moderate proficiency in it. However, if Ymir wielded any random weapon, he would know nothing about it. The weapon is enchanted so that it helps the user use it and the proficiency doesn't translate to real weapons. It is proficiency in the Death Note itself, not in the form it takes when summoned.

Good deal. Last thing before you can go.

~~Do you have any items, armor, or any normal weapons?

~~We'll say that the skill that you can use the Death Note is "Average". And a limit to how large the weapon made can be? I'm anal, forgive me. But I don't want you to make a... who knows, catapult or something and have average skill at trajectory (just some stupid idea come to mind) or a firearm...

~No items, he just came to the mortal world so he has no worldly posessions other then the clothes he made when making his golem. Nothing except the Death Note.

~Moderate and average are the same in my book, but I can change it if you want. Also, the weapon is limited to wielded weapons, that cannot be larger then average for now. They also have to be weapons that he uses by hand. If he makes a bow, then he would have to use normal arrows or use his Dark Energy to summon an arrow. One-piece, hand-used, not huge, weapons. And nothing that involves active technology [aka gun, laser blade, etc].

Oh, do note though that a shield can be considered a weapon, so he could use the Death Note to summon a shield.

Edit: Akk+1! I forgot to mention that since the Death Note is a power of the Shinigami, nobody else can wield the Death Note unless they are bonded and have exchanged that power.
Good?
