Anyone with a PS3 may know about this by now.

Basically, people with a fat PS3 model, roughly 4 to 6 million PS3s to be specific, all simultaneously stopped playing games and stopped being able to sign in to the Playstation Network.

Basically, sony screwed up royally and the internal clock got confused by the lack of a leap year this year. This mistake downed over 4 million PS3 units last night. Sony still hasn't gotten back to us on it yet, other than telling us they know there is a problem, and that the slim models are ok.

Is anybody else besides me effected by this fiasco? Just curious.

I've been told not to turn mine on for this reason and so I haven't. I await a solution.

I still have one of the old ps2-compatible models.

Suddenly all those years of 'gay-box RROD' jokes from Sony fanboiz feels altogether wholesomely worthwhile :D

It's times like these that I'm glad I only have a Wii--whose internet compatibility fails to work properly in a reliable, dependable, every-day sort of way. Just like all good, god-fearing game systems. Oh Nintendo, my heart for thee.

Seriously though, that's tragic but also a bit funny.

Yes, but once you factor in how many 360s had to be turned in for RRoD, I'm sure it probably evens out.

Luckily, my PS3, while effected, did not suffer the side effect some are of losing trophy information.

I'd be pissed.

I have the slim model so I'm alright. Personally, I'd take a hassle like this one over all the shit I've gone through with my 360, which is an elite model that is less than two years old. Cheap, cheap hardware. I get nervous every time I turn that loud-ass beast on.
