History: Wohe's life had always been one of split interest, a life she intended to leave far behind for the meanwhile. Conflicted allegiance between the Priestesses of Jya and the desert people of the Nirrakal left her yearning for a life free from secrecy.
She was born just over two decades ago in the capital, Irrakam. Being female, she was naturally presented to the Priestesses of Jya for a ritual blessing and consequently was found to exhibit extraordinary attributes that allowed her to train as a Priestess. Her life, if continued without interruption, would have followed peacefully.
As she grew up in the Priesthood under the influence of her beloved Jya, she developed a growing affinity for curative and assistive magic, at least on a basic level. Quite understandably, she also grew an attachment to her fellow Priestesses of whom she broke bread, trained, played and rested with. There was a clear solid bond that developed between all the Priestesses, despite their age range or their personalities. It went beyond a childish clique, and would better be described as a Sisterhood. Almost irreversible.
It was at the end of 14 when Wohe's life began to turn. She began her training, at least in part, in the Fallien Miltia as per state conduct two years earlier. Although pride wasn't a typical feeling for Wohe, exploration was. With the divine magic she had acquired with the blessing of Suravani, and her newly acquired military "expertise", she just had to explore what everybody else hated – the outside. Why was it so forbidden? The security around The Keep was always a bit lax in the early morning, a perfect chance for Wohe to wander out. Luckily, her still small body was easily hidden away in the early morning shadow, especially with her development in assistive magic, and trade carts to and fro the Outsider's Quarter was due. It was over the next few months or so that Wohe secretly caught a glimpse of the "outside world", south of Irrakam. She loved it! So many different coloured people, races, even more genders! She gazed wildly at men with long untamed beards, and dwarves no taller than she was at 14! It soon became a weekly habit to sneak out of The Keep to see the market places and trades people, only to return comfortably to her Sisterhood peacefully. As with any curiosity, however, there always needs to be a bigger dose to fulfil that kick.
It wasn't long before she found the bridge that connected the Outsider's Quarter to the desert. Dare she be brave? The raising temperature, despite being early hours, was certainly an adjustment to the cool breezes of The Keep. She constantly reminded herself of the 3 hour limit outside of The Keep before she could return on the trade cart.
She only had to wander out into the harsh sands of the desert before she found a wounded infant buried in the sand. Without a moment of hesitation, Wohe's natural instinct was to pray to Suravani for healing and restoration on the infant. It was granted. Wohe held the tanned infant against her pale white skin praising Suravani for her grace. Wailing ensued. Wohe quickly arose from the ground, infant secure, to find the presence of the noise. Scared and bewildered, Wohe imagined her luck to be end quite soon. She was soon confronted by a taller woman, also tanned, and dressed ruggedly in robes, asking in a thick accent for her child back. Feeling the blessing of Suravani on her child, the Mother had no choice but to feel gratitude for her child's safety. Despite speaking the same language, the different dialects separated the Mother and Wohe. The Mother, therefore, simply knelt on one knee, held Wohe's forehead with her palm and to what even now can only be described as a blessing from Mitra. Wohe inhaled the thick desert air. She then bowed and hastily returned to the Keep.
What happened over the next 7 years was somewhat of a miracle to keep hidden. Perhaps it was Jya's will to allow this treachery to continue, using it in some sort of offence in future plots against opposing factions. We might never know. Wohe continued her exploration into the shallow regions of the desert, again meeting the Mother and the child, careful to cast protecting spells to cover her white, untanned skin. She here would learn a new way of life, one that seemed almost sickening by her elder peers. Propaganda, Wohe thought to herself in later years. Her magic, thus, became somewhat intertwined with the skills of the Nirakkal such as their evasive and hasty manoeuvres. Despite the language, skills, and the items obtained over the course of her remaining years in Ikkaram, what she truly acquired was a deepening compassion for life. A yearning to give, as she was given. Quite easily, the few hours of desert life she experienced every week, month, two months became a session of humility contrasted against the exclusive society of Ikkaram. She didn’t come to hate her fellow Sister’s, nor her beloved Jya; moreover her love expanded past the boundaries of what was expected. This truly, she felt, was the grace of Suravani; a divine rehabilitation.
Despite the growth in wisdom and stature, the conflict of hostility between two alien people also grew within her. Wohe had endured laughter and pain with both the Priestesses and her growing community with the Nirakkal, she felt she had no right to choice one or the other. So she chose neither. Her morning to escape The Keep came once again, and so was done. She entered the Outsider’s Quarter, as per usual, and wandered amongst the diverse crowd to the bridge that connected the island to the mainland. Her time with the Mother and her people wasn’t long, she came to say goodbye. The people of the Nirakkal wept. Words and affection were passed, and a few jokes. Wohe didn’t bother to protect herself from the weather this time, her exposure to the elements wouldn’t matter where she was going. She headed to the docks of the Outsider’s Quarter that she regularly passed, praying to Suravani for a blessing. She quite enjoyed the fresh distilled air against her uncovered skin. Quite similarly to her escape from The Keep, she easily snuck past the guards that checked the outsider’s vessels for harmful foreign entities and remained hidden aboard the most easily accessed ship. It seemed so much more than coincidental that she had been blessed with magic that aided her mission. Surely her actions were correct?
The boat left the harbour, and with Wohe, began a voyage. What happened in The Keep or for that matter in Nirakkal, became a mystery.
What seemed like days passed as Wohe prayed patiently.
Finally, the terrible noise and banging that she recognised before they began sail happened once more, they had hit land! She looked around to find the ship’s crew unpacking and preparing for the next voyage. Quite relieved, she left the ship to find herself on the dock of an unknown area. Fear engulfed her, perhaps this was a little too much adventure. She ventured to the main city to find herself in a city called ‘Scara Brae’. Memories of her youthful self in the familiar Outsider’s Quarter came rushing back as she again encountered a new breed of people. Elves, those funny dwarves, and even a variety of human! The sick feeling in her stomach and throat didn’t leave, though.
She took a few steps into the city and gazed at the new architecture and landscape. This was her beginning. A mission of exile and restoration. She wanted to bring the blessing of Suravani to everybody, and experience what humanity really was. Her biggest fear was her greatest love though, her God. She was well aware that Jya knew of her whereabouts. Every time she used the power of Suravani in magic, Jya was undoubtedly be connected. Jya would also undoubtedly be a threat.
Personality: Wohe has a joyful character. Her pleasure in life is to serve and to find new boundaries. Possibly intimidated by men, especially of the older and grunt variety. She finds comfort in companionship and, as mentioned before, service. Her past is a secret, and her Fallien heritage and language are rarely discussed; if so, they are with quick dismissal. Typically, Wohe is a half full kind of woman, the happiness and positives of life are focussed on rather than the negatives. She hasn’t, however, got tremendous amounts of people skills, and in her time away from home she could very well be inward looking at her experiences rather than sensitive to other people’s needs. Perhaps quite naturally, she is most at comfort in the moonlight than direct sunlight.
Appearance: A tall, slim young lady, with blonde hair that is tied back for practicality. Her cheeks are rosy and her skin a healthy shade of pale from her lack of exposure to the outside world. Her stowaway clothes include sandals, and a hooded brown robe that is oversized – tied to her around the waist with a rope. She usually is smiling or gaping at the new scenery, her face definitely doesn’t lack expression.
Skills:
Heal: A healing spell designed as a gift from the Fallien Moon God Suravani. With enough prayer and patience it could heal great quantities. However, Heal currently heals minor wounds and small fractures.
Protect: A very useful spell in Wohe’s past gave protection against the elements of Nirakkal. Protect creates a barrier between the target and the outside world. Furthermore, it can protect against any incoming threat, though due to a lack of experience in combat, it is only of seldom use in battle.
Shine: Opposite to the light of the sun, the shine of the moon can be conjured up at will.
Meditation: After a lifestyle of solemn and devotional, Wohe can very easily concentrate on her task in a time of crisis, especially when her peers are panicking. An inherent skill.
Nirakkal Influenced Spells
Blink: Using the gift of light from the Sun God, Mitra, Wohe can bend the light that is needed to cast images and alter their apperance. This doesn’t change the actual object, however.
Haste: A spell used by the Nirakkal to hasten the target past troublesome parts of the desert. When cast on a target it speeds up their actions by 1.5 for a short duration of time.
Sandwalker: A passive skill that allows Wohe to freely walk and run on heated ground or rough terrain such as sand with ease. After walking there for so long, it becomes natural.
Equipment:
Callu Glass Rod: A gift from the Nirakkal, a well made type of glass. Although designed well, and rounded, it is blunt and isn’t typically used for armed combat.
Light Robes: Clothing used to move easily in and to keep modesty. Not meant for defence. Covers the whole body, with a hood.
