Krahl

Name: Krahl
Age: 23
Race: Human
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: Green
Height: 6'3''
Weight: 234 lbs.
Occupation: Barbarian
Personality: Fierce by nature and cunning with practice, Krahl has the makings of a formidable warrior and an auspicious future. Raised in a nomadic clan that prided itself on a sense of honor and habitual warmongering, he is definitely no stranger to bloodshed. What had been beaten into his head since birth was that to continue to fight on was what made a man and to give up, especially in that of the savage tundra, meant certain death. It should never be underestimated the barbarian's drive to survive and to carry on, making what would make a normally daunting encounter into an especially ruthless one. But, as has been tried and tested in times past, the most dangerous man is not only one with nothing to lose but ones who also have a thirst for blood.
Though he is a savage by lineage, Krahl possesses something many of his brothers and sisters don't. The ability to reason. This trait often overlooked or taken for granted by both his own people and that of the civilized provides him with an insatiable thirst for learning and ascension, giving him a yearning to become something more than what he is now. This spark of intelligence, however small, shows promise that with age and tried experience, that the barbarian could one day be one of the dwindling few who wage wars with the command of entire tribes of his brethren rather then having to only fight and heed the bidding of somebody else.
Outside of battle, Krahl is loyal and a man of his word. Still young and with much to learn, his flaws largely center around a lust for anger he has yet to conquer, women, and an unquenchable thirst that no amount of lager or ale seems to satisfy.
Appearance: A native of Skavia, Krahl hasn't escaped the telltale signs of one who has hailed from a savage upbringing. A mountain of a man and of considerable girth, he has the size and strength of a grizzly. Covered in furs and hides that serve as much of his armor, underneath lies a sunburnt and muscular frame. Krahl's face hasn't escaped the marks of battle, and he carries a few distinguishing scars that map much of his face. His beard and mane both thick and unkempt, he has the appearance of a man many years older then he really is. Other than his cold, pale blue eyes, Krahl's only other distinguishing feature is his sword. Passed down from his clan through the generations, it has the makings of something distinctly Urodan making him stand out from other barbarians, but it has long since been made into a weapon only a barbarian would use.
History:
I'm going to be writing much of his history through his quests and linking them here. Because of that, I see no need to write a long, drawn out origin story for a section of the profile I'll be deleting and editing in a level anyway. What needs to be remembered? Three words. Barbarian, Skavian, and Clan.
Skills:
Enrage: Though it isn't that hard to imagine, Krahl has something of a temper. While widely considered a shortcoming in civilized society, it is something prized by barbarians and warriors alike. The ability to be thrown into a rage and hone it into a focus is something that can drive a warrior to perform incredible feats and is essential for somebody looking for that last bit of energy needed to win a fight. However, in Krahl's case this ability is a double-edged sword. When driven to anger, the barbarian gains 1.5x to his strength and speed, but loses his ability to think coherently and his entire motivation for living has suddenly shifted from survival to winning at any cost. Though this is often coveted by warriors in Skavia and many of his very own brethren, Krahl's temper is something he has tried actively to conquer but has still not succeeded. This ability lasts for 3 posts.
A War-Torn Heart: Krahl might not be proficient at many things, but what he is skilled at is the art and making of war. Because of his upbringing and his culture, he was reared as a warrior at a very young age. Because of this, Krahl has gained an intimate knowledge of how to break an enemy down both physically and mentally. He knows what bones to break, what tendons to snap, organs to crush and ligaments to cut to not only win in combat but conquer his enemy in some often barbaric and grisly ways.
Intimidate: Krahl learned long ago that using fear instead of being ruled by it can be the deciding factor in battle. Because of his size and ferocity, it is easy for him to have a presence that drives the fear into his enemy. Because of this, when in battle, Krahl emits a presence that causes NPCs and PCs that are beneath his level and one above to be intimidated by him. This causes them to lose focus, morale and much of their confidence when fighting him. In other words, when around Krahl, opponents will suffer a -1.5x penalty to their speed and intelligence.
Forged in Battle: Krahl is adept in his knowledge of the maintanence and use of steel weaponry in most of its forms, but where he really shines is in the use of his sword, shield and unarmed combat. When using any combination of these weapons, Krahl receives a .5x bonus per level to his strength for the next two posts.
Equipment:
Bar'uhn - A broadsword passed down in his clan for at least three generations, it came into the hands of Krahl when he came of age. Made in an Urodan forge, it is of a hardier version of steel which makes it far more difficult to break, but much harder to sharpen. Having seen considerable use from the males in his family, this sword has little appearance of any wear below the hilt. Though taken from somebody who Krahl's father swears gave the sword it's namesake, Krahl has yet to discover the irony.
Shield: A small, versatile shield that is still big enough to cover and protect much of his arm, this armor is made of wood and treated by oils that add to its strength and durability. Encompassed by a light metal frame, this shield serves as both armor and a weapon for an enemy who needs to be stopped in his tracks.
Furs: Draped in the furs of a mammoth, they are thick and a very good insulator. Used more to survive the elements, Krahl also has it as his only other piece of real armor. Though not as good as the real thing, these furs can still stop a weapon once or twice before it penetrates.
