Aaaaand the judgement is up. No surprise who the big winner is, so I'm not even gonna bother tilting at that windmill. By now it's just an accepted bit of homegrown wisdom that every tournament that Letho enters, he wins. That's just the way it is now. He's champion emeritus. Of everything. I think the first couple of times he actually pulled it off by raw talent but then all the old staff left/died/choked to death on their own dicks and egos and then the new staff had to come in and judge, they were desperate for people not to think they were retards so they gave anybody that was still around the numbers the old guys gave them because ¨THE OLD ONES WERE WISE, THE OLD ONES WERE GREAT¨, which ended up with Letho getting a record so inflated that by the time the old guys that came or never left got to judging his threads they started buying into his legend too and hence, Letho is now writer of the year all years, forever and ever, amen.

It's not so much anger at me being slighted or whatever, I walked into this knowing the score. Beyond the various axes to grind I've managed to acquire with the staff over the years, shit, I've personally claimed to have fucked the mother of almost any staff member or moderator you can name. Ruined their shit beyond most conceivable spite. But I'm not conceited enough to think that's why I keep getting the shaft in judgements. Beyond that, and I don't mean to sound like an emo wrist cutter sephiroth plushie-humping drama queen, but over the last couple of years it's become pretty clear to me that I'm probably the only one on site that enjoys reading my writing. Now before the goddamn asshurt squad jumps in to rub pomade on my sore anus, please stop lathering up and back the fuck off. That is cool with me. I'm okay with being the only one that likes my writing. Sure, I have to stay away from one on one battles and stack the everliving shit out of the deck in clan wars and shit if I want to win OOCly but that just adds another level of play to the whole thing. Besides all that? Shit...I'm okay with being the only person having fun. What can I say? It's fun to have fun.

So, yeah. I did not expect to win this tournament. That's fine. That doesn't piss me off.

But what DOES piss me off is seeing Ataraxis, some dense motherfucker that for some reason puts in a hundred percent each and every fucking time he writes despite the fact that I constantly tell him that you people wouldn't be able to tell a hundred percent from ten percent and a fart in the bed in the middle of the night, because you are FUCKING STUPID, burning himself the fuck out like a goddamn comet across the night sky-and I've seen this a million fucking times, too. Some genuine fucking writer with SOUL gives you everything he has and you're too busy seal-clapping at joe fuckface vampyr (half) to pay attention, so he burns himself out and leaves the site forever and we're left with permanent shitcrusader Letho imitators that deserve only to die in a fire.

I find your writing rather amusing, Godhand, and I can honestly say I've read more of you and Caden's shit than anyone else on the site... Keep up the good work, because there are still people on here who enjoy reading your stuff (besides yourself). Not to mention that you just don't give a fuck, ICly and OCCly, and that's a pretty righteous trait.

Side note: Your final post of the Cell was epic enough to pull you into at least the top two, so I think it was really a sham that you didn't get what I, and likely others, thought you rightfully deserved.

First of all, I really do enjoy your writing Godhand. I actually had you pegged for a third, being the more likely of me you and Atzar (As Lethos #1 spot was pretty much garunteed, regardless of whether it's alleged judge bias or actual skill.) I would have never even done quests with you if I didn't think you were worth your own cup of tea. I've even invited you to go questing with Satanfoot, though I will more than happily let Sei do something with Mr. Striker now that the Cell is completed.

While I agree that it sucks that Ata burned himself out and left the site over the tournament, I have to say that he should have known what he was getting into before he got into it. If there hadn't of been that little 'wait on the next guy' misunderstanding, I'm sure Ata would have gained enough points to at least place third. As far as I know, Dirks probably told him he was getting docked for that incident, which should have provided him with even more incentive to do everything spot on flawless in order to save his own balls. Not trying to be a douche or anything, but as much as I like to think I'm the shit with Sei, I know that there are a dozen people much better than me on this site. I felt that Bloodrose, Atzar, and yes, perhaps even Letho, the man you make the staff out as to herald as the in character messiah, did a better job than Ata. I've had a few hours to reflect on this now, and that's just my two cents there.

Completely agree with you there, buddy. Even if you factor in the fact that exp has not been distributed in the A and T chambers because Max hasn't added in the whole 'We were in the Cell' bonus. I mean, 2,000 some odd experience for one battle at level 8? Shit, I should have just finished two week long quests. Anyways, hopefully once Max rounds that out and I distribute it will be a bit better.

This (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=2091&page=10) is a link to the previous Final Cell judgment. The average amount of EXP distributed (excluding tournament victory rewards) was 1784 EXP. Meanwhile, the average score was a 62. Compare this to the current Final Cell judgment. The average amount of EXP distributed this time around was 2426 EXP, but the average score was only 58. Just for comparison's sake, it looks like you guys had the better deal (which is expected because you had to post once every 24 hours).

Something died on Althanas, and frankly I got my ideas as to what, but it's not the place to say it here. All I want to say is these tournaments, as well as most Staff ran operations, stopped being about fun.

And as a final warning, Woe Betide those who dare have fun, for the judges will smite your plans and make you look like your ideas mean shit. Godhand is right, nobody likes other people's writing it seems. If it isn't what they want, then bam! Fuck it, give it a shitty score, and stamp it with EXP, which by the way, is getting stingy again. I got's the AIM, you peeps can use it if you wish to chat.

What the hell have you been smoking, man? This is actually the first time I won a tournament on Althanas. I only entered like four or so times in total, and the farthest I got was the Serenti finals which I lost to Storm (because Storm was was one badass, smooth operator). I also got one quarter-finals of the LCC on Rheawien and I think I ranked fourth or fifth in the last Cell, ran by Santh. So if winning every tournament I enter means winning once every four times, then I guess you're right.

Furthermore, I enjoy reading your writing most of the time. I think that you have a rather unique style and your posts catch my interest easily. And judging by what other people said here, I'm not the only one. So there really isn't an anti-Godhand movement on Althanas. None that I know of anyways. :P



I had fun. Even if it was sometimes tough to summon the inspiration to post, I had fun, and that's saying a lot coming from a guy who doesn't even like to do battles. I knew it would be tight at the end score-wise, and in all truth, while I expected to be ranked pretty high in the end, I was surprised by actually coming on top. I knew Bloodrose and Ataraxis would give me a run for my money, and after seeing his quality in the first round, I wasn't surprised to see that Atzar did great as well.

But my congratulations and thanks go to everybody for getting through this Cell and putting up a great show. It was awesome writing with all of you, especially people who I never wrote with before. Also, I think we should congratulate Max as well for running this tournament pretty much single-handedly. You may disagree with some of the decisions, and you might complain about the delay at the end, but I still think he did a good job and deserves at least a pat on the back.

Now, if I wasn't living in Croatia and all of you guys weren't scattered all around the USA or whatnot, I'd buy everyone a beer or three. As it stands, though, I guess I'll be seeing you at the next show. Which, according to Godhand, I'm also destined to win. ;)

To clarify this, had Storm posted his conclusion on time, he WOULD have beaten Letho. The only reason Letho won by numbers was because Storm was late in posting the conclusion.

I think Letho forgets that tidbit, since he also forfeited the Serenti and gave it to Storm, even if he HAD won.

This is true. Storm would've won the thing even if I hadn't forfeited and the only reason he hadn't posted in time was because, like me, he thought that it was a done deal once I walked out. But since he was proclaimed the winner of that tournament, it doesn't change the fact that I hadn't won any until now. My idea about that battle wasn't really to give Storm anything because he deserved that title regardless of my actions, but simply to walk out of the tournament, in sync with Letho's IC exit of the arena. I didn't want a judgment or the EXP or anything, but the mods in charge thought otherwise.

Still, that face-off with Storm, that was pretty badass. I miss that varlet. :)

I'm proud of Atzar of making the top three. We'd talked a lot between rounds, and I gave him a lot of tips and advice, so I guess it's sort of a pseudo "teacher's pride". That said, I certainly can't take credit for his hard work and skill. (I had the skill, but just not the hard work, which is why he made it to round 2 and I didn't, haha). So, well done Atzar; you've come a long way since returning, and definitely deserve your spot. We still have to do a thread sometime.

As for the rest, it's about how I expected when the round began. Thought expected, I can't say that I agree with Letho winning, but it's probably that I don't personally care for his style as much as others -- nothing personal. Bloodrose took second because he's good, especially at battles. I honestly thought Ataraxis was the best of the bunch, but that's why we call them 'opinions'.

As for the tournament itself, it did show an important aspect of how they work. Especially in the first round, it's not that there was a significantly better than average activity ratio, it's just that as opposed to 1v1 tournaments, a player defaulting won't kill an entire round. Maybe the next "traditional" tournament could take that lesson to heart and use 1v1v1 rounds. Just a thought.

I honestly thought Ataraxis was the best of the bunch, but that's why we call them 'opinions'.Truth be told, I tend to agree. His writing, minus one or two unclear actions, was superb. However, he also violated the single most important rule of the tournament and I'm not 100% convinced it was unintentional. Ataraxis should have been disqualified for failure to post within 24 hours. Instead of giving him the boot, he was told upfront that there would be a score penalty for missing the deadline. I took two points off "action" and two points off wildcard. This four point differential would have at least tied him for first, leading to a potential run off with Letho.

Judging is not arbitrary. I have a very specific process I use, which is why I open myself for full commentary to anyone who requests it. I truly hope Ataraxis did not leave the site over this, but if he did I wish him the best in his future endeavors and have no hard feelings.

Rayse was banned following his antics in the Magus Cup under the assumption that the next tournament would occur shortly thereafter. There was a significant delay between the Magus Cup and the Cell, so I (and no one else) decided to lift the ban. The goal of the Cell was to garner activity, so I wasn't about to throw an active player to the curb. He was told that any inappropriate conduct in the Cell would lead to disqualification and immediate disciplinary action. He kept his end of the bargain, played as Rayse, and thus has the option of an alias EXP transfer.

Any concerns about the situation should be directed towards me. Stop trolling him about it on the forums.

Your decision is wrong. Anyone who is going to think so already does and you're certainly not going to change your mind. All the same, how long it is between tournaments has no bearing on anything. You had people who were moving in and out of positions up to the very day of the tournament and were not at a loss for activity.

The whole tournament is full of ex post facto rule changes and this is just another. It really should come as no surprise to me, and yet I continue to be dumbfounded by your inconsistency in application of even your own decisions.

Now thanks to the exp from round one I just got bumped to lvl 2, so I have to do the whole thing again ;) I then also get to navigate the quagmire of being in two threads that I entered at lvl 0 and now being two lvls higher and wanting to use my new skills.
