When life handed you lemons, you made lemonade. When life handed you Oranges, you made orange juice. When life handed you cash, you spent it. This was the circle of life that Jensen was supposed to follow. Who was he to ignore it.
To be certain of what he wanted, Jensen wasn't even sure. All he knew was he wanted it. Looking at weapons in hand he began to realize that he wasn't very imposing threat on the battlefield.
That would change.
He entered into the blacksmith, eyes glancing upon the walls when he saw a poster of the Marshal Letho Ravenheart. It was looking upon that man he saw a godly image form into his mind...
Lawbreaker...
It seemed so perfect for the immortal. He could just see the epic battles between one who obeyed and one who didn't. Yes. He would have a Gunblade!
"Smithy!" Jensen called out. "How much would it be to have a six chamber like his? I want a sleeker blade, however, not so bulky like his. And let's dye the material a black while we are at it. May as well make it imposing." He thought if there were anything else he should add. Content there wasn't he awaited an answer looking towards the weapon.
Bootchy the Blacksmith gave Jensen a hard look when he wandered into his shop. The boy had enthusiasm, that much was true, but did he have the cash to back up what he wanted? As the boy motioned to the poster of the Marshal, Bootchy managed to keep a straight face.
"Well now, what material ye'll be wanting? The Lawmaker is Dehlar, and at that sort of size and craftsmanship, I hope ye brought yer life savings."

Jensen shook his head angrily. "I already mentioned that I wanted the blade to be smaller than his, not so bulky, more slim. He has a bastard sword like blade, I want a more...scimitar like blade, but less on the curves. If that makes sense..." Jensen kept his tone neutral. Shop keepers usually appreciated it more when you were polite. He had learned that easily enough as a kid when he used to shop on his mandatory year in the world alone training.
"Material? Well obviously Dehlar was way out of my price range. Let's keep it simple shall we. I want steel. As for the six shooter, let's cut it out, but allow that option to be added later! Still want it dyed black however."
Jensen ran his fist under his chin. "How much for that?"
"Lessee.... fer a gunblade that ye can upgrade later, see, is a bit more complex. I ken do it, see, but fer a small gunblade with a short sword blade and one round o' fire. Black steel..." Bootchy closed one eye, measuring it up in his mind. Parts would have to be special ordered from Alerar, not to mention that it had been a little while since the blacksmith and put together a weapon like that. "I'll say 1,800 gold.... and I'll sell ya packs of five bullets for 50 gold each."

Wow. That was all Jensen could think of.
"Ya know, I wouldn't trust you to do the work anyway." He grumbled thinking more about it. Steel weapons, like a sword with a modified handle to later be upgradable to a hilt costing 1800 gold coins. He smelled a rip off.
"Let's try something maybe less festive and more old school here for your simple mind. Three steel throwing glaives, triangular design. Four throwing daggers, arrow tipped, iron." he said rapidly. "And a wool scarf for when it gets chilly." He added as a n after thought. "What's the damage?"
He suddenly came up with a different idea.
"And out of curiosity, how would one be able to say...work off the debt owed for a gunblade at your price? I can do mining for the base materials."
((I request an opportunity to role play for the materials, and if I pass the grade I can earn them through this thread if need be. Or at least reduce the cost.))
Please see this post (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?p=108625&posted=1#post108625) in the Bazaar FAQ.
He'd been willing to talk down the price for a moment, but the boys attitude got on his bad side. Why, if he'd ever gone to a smithy and told the man he didn't trust him to do the work....well, his daddy would have been wearing leather armor made of his own hide, wouldn't he? He sniffed derisively when the boy rattled off a list of more things. He wasn't going to take attitude copped by some pathetic little urchin like that.
"This is a smithy, boy. I dun knit, so I ken't sell yer scarf here."
"Now," the Bootch started, his brow furrowing. "Th' material's jus' a drop in the ocean fer the price. Ye ken fin' steel fer cheap, don' even have'ter mine it yerself." The older man didn't know why he was entertaining the idea of letting the lad help in the construction. He had half a mind to send him out on the street with a quick size 15 boot to the rear. However, as petulant as the boy had been, Bootchy liked the idea of good honest work over argument.
"A big part of the price, you know, is gettin' the gun parts from Alerar. Tell ya what. You go to Alerar, and bring me back a musket, or lacking that, all the parts to make one and the schematic to make sure I ken do ye a work that's up to meh reputation, and I'll make ye a gunblade fer 700. I'll throw in a box of rounds fer free jus' ter sweeten the deal."
Go ahead and post with your decision on this. If you choose to do this quest, PM me upon completion. You must receive a score of 65 or higher, to prove that you put in the effort to write a compelling story of his quest to get the gun tech. When you PM me, include the link to the judgement of your quest. It does not have to be a solo, and you can recruit for it.
When you respond to this, I am going to close this thread. If you accept the terms of the "haggle", I will leave it here and re-open it when you've finished the quest and are ready to complete the gunblade. If you do not, it will go into the archives. If you would like to purchase something else, please make another thread.

Jensen shrugged at the offer.
"You got a deal. Half the crap you get these days tends to be searched for anyway. I'll be back with your promise of 700 gold."
Jensen then turned to leave the shop.
((I'm game, and I know tech is expensive, but what I was looking for was the blade portion of the gunblade to be made, and the handle replaceable with a real revolver later when i can earn/afford one. Otherwise the hilt would just be made of wood. Sorry if there was confusion on my end, that would be my fault.))
