Blank slipped casually into the bazaar of a reputable rare item trader in the Numarr Slums and chided his interest in purchasing items by handing the shopkeep a simple letter of introduction. Without sight in one eye or the power of self-thinking speech, the mute swordsman had noway else to communicate except with the written words of another.

The letter read, in elegant and somewhat feminine calligraphy:

Dear Sir/Madam,

Please could you provide my associate with the following items that he requires:

A vellum sheet, thirty centimers by fifteen.
A glass rod for smelting, roughly three feet in length.
A housebrick sized chunk of steel ore.
Fine red leather, for the binding of handles or canes.
Dragon's blood, roughly four drops, a small vial if reasonably priced.
A lightweight but sturdy chain with hook and eye to attach a blade to.

He will provide you with further clarification if required, and of course, agree himself on a price.

Yours sincerely,

Miss La Roux.

Arden crossed his arms over his naked torso and cocked his head, waiting for the reply that usually began the mundane proceedings of bartering and trade. His legacy was proffered to him by unseen hands, and he had to remake the blade that was broken when he slew his most closest friend all those years ago.

The Thorn of Rheilhand would be made anew, and with it, he would end Magnarion's life.

The Bootch took the sheet from the silent stranger and squinted his eyes as he leaned in close. The math rang up in his head and he went about his business, as silent as his guest, gathering up the items that were needed. A mixture of precious and mundane, he couldn't help but feel odd to gather them.

Finally he had piled up every item on the counter, holding leather that had yet to be dyed.

"340 for all of it as is," he said, "350 I can dye this fer ya if it's really necessary with yer...." he checked the parchment again. "missus."

Blank watched the old man gather the various items he had asked Ruby to write down with eager smiles and a solemn silence. When he spoke, the money felt right in the pit of his stomach and he nodded clearly.

With no way of speaking, he held up three fingers firmly, then dropped them, then five fingers, then dropped them and then made a sign of nothing with two shrugs to try and dictate 350 to the shopkeep. He pointed to the leather and then to his hair and nodded furiously.

This bloody isn't easy!

The Bootch had never met a mute before, and he looked at Blank for a moment before nodding. He packaged up all the items with exception of the leather.

"Alrigh'. 350 now, and come back later today and I should have this dyed and ready for you." For a moment, he seemed to be feeling blindly under the counter before he pulled out a small book that held clippings of various dyed hide and leathers. He showed Blank two samples, one a brilliant pomegranate red and the other a deeper, more earthy ruby tone.

"Which color d'yeh think yer mistress most wants?"

Blank rolled his eyes. He was not exactly in a position to correct the man, it was he that wished to purchase the items, but the method of communication wasn't exactly perfect. He stepped closer and dangled a strand of his own hair before the colours. He selected the ruby tone and tapped it with a smile.

With a casual swoop into his pockets, he deposited the gold on the counter and picked up the packet.

He held up his hand and tapped his wrist, then did a thumbs up, to symbolise that he would be back at a later time and turned to leave.

The parts to remake the Rheilhand with him, Blank departed to find the catalyst to rebind it to the Aria...

He needed his mother's blood...
