I'm new on the site, but most definitely not new to roleplaying. It's been a hobby of mine for about six years now. As for writing, I've enjoyed that as a 'serious' hobby for about 15 years.

I'm hoping that I can craft some interesting stories here after my time at a site that has been declining more and more speedily over the past couple of years. (I'll mention no names, mind.)

I like the look of the roleplay system here - very organised, very in-depth, and the idea of a fully persistent world seems like it'll be a lot of fun.

See y'all around.

Welcome, Jalim!

I hope you can find an outlet for your writing here on Althanas, it is a pleasure to have you with us - if you need anything, help, guidance and/or advice, you've only to ask!

Ah, another rat has escaped his sinking ship.

Welcome, we all seem to float here, and then some of those arrive on wings, its a matter of pace.

One of the things you'll notice is that there is a large group of people around here who have a definite grasp of the concept, so you won't be alone in experience.

You ain't kidding about seeing what you've seen, and chances are, you ain't seen half of it yet.

Robustly yours.

Welcome, as Head Judge, I make it my personal crusade to make sure I can do whatever I can to help you out. Seriously, just ask SirArtemis.

If you need anything, even somebody to roleplay with, my AIM is Ashtonwise.

Welcome! After reading your character profile, I just wanted to note that if you were ever looking for someone to write with that you coud always send me a message.

I like the idea of the whole Warder idea. It sounds familiar, lol.

Thanks for the welcomes guys. Much appreciated.

Silence Sei: I'll keep that in mind. :)

Zerith: If you've ever read WoT, it should be familiar. I'm also hoping to create a companion character for Jalim who will be an Aes Sedai from that same series. Warders act as protectors of Aes Sedai, ya see. I'm just waiting to see what changes I need to make, if any, to the terminology and names of these before I create the character.

On the topic of characters, though, what's the usual lead time on character approvals? I wanna get writing already!

usually a day or two is all it takes.

I suppose this is one of the differences I'll need to get used to. I'm much more accustomed to either jumping into a roleplay straight away, or discussing my character with the RP creator and then jumping in.

Or, more often, I would be the RP creator so didn't have to worry about such things.

However, due to some issues with my phone company, I currently don't have access to the Internet at home until they fix it. I get to some at work, but there's only so much you can do while doing something else. And everybody else who have power to approve profiles seemed to fall off the face of Althanas.

At any rate, you're now approved. Welcome to our site, I hope you have a blast.

Thanks Letho, much appreciated.

Also, don't worry about me making 'oddly familiar' storylines from the WoT series. I just very much like the system of magic that it uses, or its basics, and have used it for some time in various roleplaying characters. Personally, I hate plots that are just regurgitated from other works.

And no worries about the delay on approving my character - I'm just not very patient. I know what it can be like when real life gets in the way of hobbies; had it happen myself more than once.

A quick question, though, to anyone who knows the answer: Is the map found on the Almanac the entirety of the world or simply the continent on which Althanas is played?

Far as I know, it's the entire world, but who's to say that there aren't pieces that were left off the map?

Hmm... I always thought that was just the northern hemisphere. It would make sense, given that Corone and Fallien are hotter climates and they're at the southern end of the map.

Welcome to Althanas, Jalim. You can add my name to the growing list of people you can feel free to contact if you have questions or anything. My AIM name is Ark Ether.

Apparently I'm really delayed haha but welcome and i look forward to reading your work

Thanks guys, I'll go with the map representing the Northern Hemisphere only I think.

I've read a few things that spoke of the game world in general that used the term 'North Althanas'. I'll take that to mean there are other areas. :)

Now the question is whether or not to jump in with a multi-player quest, a solo, or go make Jalim's companion and start with those two... Hm. Options.

Atzar

Do all three. We use liquid time on Althanas, so you can put your character in multiple threads at once. Just don't overload yourself!

Silence Sei

Yeah, don't 'Sei' it.

Make like Nike and Just Do It.

Sounds like a plan, but thinking about it, I will probably leave Mathwain out of things for now - so I can the hang of this place a bit first.

I'm actually very much looking forward to sinking my teeth in here... So many good writers, and after my previous haunt I feel like a kid in a sweet shop. (Yup, I'm a redcoat. :P)

Sink your teeth in until they rot and fall out if you like. As will be obvious in time, I've considered the maps to be just one part of the world, the rest being shrouded in mists and mystery, just waiting for someone to go explore. This is due in part because two of my characters are part of a Temporal Paradox.
