Just bored, curious and want to get to know everyone =] xx

Fan? Of course, the internet nearly forces the stuff under your skin and through your veins.

Cosplayer? No. You could not pay me to dress up as Naruto, Ichigo, Keisuke, Barret, Simba, Zeus, Hades, most likely not Mufasa, Ayane or any of the other characters portrayed through the media. I simply refuse to wear the wigs.

I'm a fan, and if I ever get the money I would sure as hell cosplay.

An organization coat costs close to $150.
I watch code geass (Both seasons), Deathnote, Bleach, ect.

Death Note, Negima?!, Ah My Goddess, Fruit's Basket (and before you ask, yes, I'm a guy, but those shows are HILARIOUS), Bleach, Kekkashi, Cowboy Bebop, G Gundam, Gundam Wing, FLCL, Eureka Seven, Trinity Blood, Blood+, and Soul Eater.

ani-moo >:

I kid. I'm horribly picky about my anime (can ask Artemis about that) and... yeah...

I dislike a lot of the new stuff >: not very interesting and mostly everything is big explosions and colorful rainbow effects. If DnD was real life, I might as well go ask a level 1 wizard/sorc to practice their color spray on me. Same thing (in my opinion).

Off the top of my head, anime I watch or have watched :: Blood+, Hellsing, Vampire Hunter D, DBZ, Dragonball, DBZ GT, Cowboy Bebop, FLCL, Ghost in the Shell, Last Exile, Sayuki (sp?), Bleach, Naruto, Naruto : Shippuden, all the Gundams, Samurai Champloo, Ruroni Kenshin, Trigun, Dead Leafs (it's a movie only), Death Note (one of my favorites), Trinity Blood, Eureka Seven, The Big O... and probably plenty of other relatively never well known ones.

I'm not picky, I'll watch anything for anime, either to enjoy or to just laugh at. :p

Cosplay? No way. Wouldn't ever catch me doing that. Mostly because I have other things to spend the money on (beer and hookah and more beer). Lol

Amaya
07-29-10, 05:46 PM
Cool XD I just watch too much of it, Rurouni Kenshin, Tsubasa Resivoir chronicles, One Piece, Ouran High school host club, Fullmetal Alchemist, Kuroshitsuji, Naruto, Deathnote, Bleach, Tokyo Mew Mew, Higurashi etc etc etc :)

Yeh I would never spend a fortune a costume, they're just fun to make, the main expense is wigs XD

I guess if I was into cosplaying, being asian has its perks... the few times I went to any ani con back when I had long long hair, people just assumed I was some obscure anime character = - =... even though I was in normal street clothing.

:D in another and completely creepy side note my hair is now on a doll.... that my mother made .... >_>

To SirArtemis: I'm so bringing that doll next time I visit you.

Current On:

Bleach
Black Lagoon: Roberta's Blood Trail (can't find episodes 2-5 subbed anywhere!)

Have Watched

Trigun
Cowboy Bebop
Teacher Please! (more for fanservice than any true care for the plot)
Black Lagoon
Black Lagoon: The Second Barrage
Devil May Cry
Ruroni Kenshin
Code Geass
Code Geass R2 (Heard a nasty rumor they might return to that series with another protagonist for CC to torment)

No, haven't cosplayed, probably won't.

I used to be a big anime fan. Nowadays I only watch Bleach.

Animes I've watched:

DB/DBZ/DBGT
Trinity Blood
Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien (AKA Rumbling Hearts for the English dubbed version)
Onegai Twins
FMA
Black Cat
DN Angel
Elfen Lied
Escaflowne
FLCL
Grenadier
Mouse
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
Kanon
Noein
Shakugan no Shana
Yumeria

As for cosplay: Never done it, never intend to. It simply doesn't interest me.

I've seen Dragonball/Z/GT, Yu Yu Hakusho, and Rurouni Kenshin (far and away my favorite). Little but of Samurai X, too. I generally like anime when I watch it, but not enough to remember to watch it when it's on TV or to buy it myself.

Not particularly interested in cosplay.

Anyone looking for a more adult anime, might want to give Black Lagoon a try. Its foul mouthed and dirty as hell, but enjoyable, even if it gets surreal in a few moments. (Those twins give me nightmares...)

Does this answer your cosplay question? (http://c2.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/137/l_e235f03f834c4f469af67f77f45c22a1)

Or this? (http://c2.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/147/l_cad500e775df4bf0b3fe946537715401) (That's a costume made for an 8 year old worn by a 20 year old, btw)

How about this? (http://c2.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/150/l_299bd24ac5ae44b6b965178cec645605.jpg) (That was supposed to be Chisato Madison from SO2, but I didn't get the jeans cut off in time)

As far as what I've see

Samurai Seven
Yu Yu Hakusho (Great ending, though Kurama should have won the last tourney)
Yu-Gi-Oh
Pokemon
Digimon (Season 1 ftw!)
Excel Saga
Saiyuki
The first episode of Wild Arms
Burst Angel
Big O (Another great ending)
Cowboy Bebop
Outlaw Star (Sub-par ending)
Sailor Moon/S/Whatever other letters they used
DB/DBZ/GT
Ronin Warriors
Thundercats
Monster Rancher (Best of the 'catch the beast' animes)
Kirby

That's all I can think of without going into stuff like Bible Black and La Blue Girl.

Awww... I love when the Americans cry about their parents.

I love it when the Brits try to act like we didn't beat them from our shores with sticks and guns. Yeah, we kicked our dad's butt, and then threw him out of our house.

Now in all seriousness, is this the place to be arguing about who is better, and what drinks we prefer at morning, noon, and night?

Then they spanked us like the brats we were. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_of_1812) Are we quite done with the little patriotic history lessons and can we get back to anime now?

Anyone heard about grenadier at all? I'm trying to find other animes like Black Lagoon and I like the gritty realness of it, reminds me of cowboy bebop. I like that kind of feel to my anime...

Jalim Mandren
08-01-10, 01:10 AM
Grenadier is a funny anime. I watched it a few years back, can't remember much behind the story though. Mostly I remember bullets flying out of cleavage!

Oh and shooting other people's bullets. And the bad ass gun battle between two chicks in a tower/temple/something.

It's very much a fan service anime, I reckon.

Knave
08-01-10, 07:47 AM
Gritty realness?

Try Bokurano. It has giant robots, but the sheer amount of grit makes swallowing it something like Evangelion filled with glass and tears. It is not a happy series, and the realism is pretty horrifying.

We get to see all the collateral damage battles for the sake of the earth cause on damn near every scale.

I'm fully aware of the war of 1812, the fact of the matter is that Daddy Britania never got to stay, and I'd like to see Canada or Britain try to burn down our white house again. Of course, this does prove that Canada is probably not something to laugh at.

Silence Sei
08-01-10, 09:26 AM
I'm going to end this brit-America debate with one fell swoop. With a simpsons conversation.

Moe: "A Brit huh? You know we saved your ass in World War 2."

Hugh: "And -we- saved -your- ass in World War 3."

Moe: "Fair Enough."

Bokurano was pretty good, though it didn't follow the manga completely. Pretty dark stuff though. The anime was good enough, though I feel the manga was a bit... darker.

I'm trying to think of other "gritty" animes but... nothings coming to mind right now.

Record of the Lodoss War is pretty old, but a classic if anyone hasn't seen that.

Uhm... if you want an acid trip... try Paprika by Satoshi Kon. Same person who did Tokyo Godfathers.

Tokyo Godfathers is pretty gritty, but more of a slice of life kinda gritty (and mildly depressing).

But my all time favorite for downers is Grave of the Fireflies. If you haven't seen it... I'm not sure if I want to recommend it, but it is amazing. Just... be sure you're not in a really bad point in your life when you watch it.

DB/DBZ/DBZGT
FLCL
Cowboy Bebop
Mobile Suit Gundam 0079
G Gundam

I'm kinda picky about my Anime too, I've only really gotten into Cowboy Beebop and Full Metal Alchemist.

I don't think I'd cosplay, but when I was on a business trip for a couple weeks in Singapore I found a nice little shop that catered to Cosplayers, I almost got some stuff. Oddly enough when I went to Japan on business, I couldn't find hide nor hair of it. Found the oxygen bars stimulating though!

Well my friend and I thought about all the consequences before hand. We did just to get ourselves kicked out, and go out with a bang at that. We couldn't stand that school. A high school of over 500 kids, three principals, and some kind of fight every day, be it a cat fight or guys fighting over a girl, there was a fight. I just got so sick of it, I came up with the idea of a real but fake fight to get my friend and I kicked outta school.

I am being educated on classical Japanese Anime however, I am finally going to sit down and watch Akira, in all it's supposed glory this evening. I am immensely excited!

Kaneda! Help me!

Tetsuo! Tetsuo!

*Tetsuo turns into a giant child thing and squishes everyone*

Its an amazing film, if you watched it in english, I'd suggest watching with the original and new dubs. The lines change a bit between the two. As knave said theres much more story out there if you want it too, I haven't though, I am not a big manga fan :-/

Awesome moments for me were:

Bike going through the resturant window at the start.
When you first see the clown boss and it cranks up that freaky music.
When Tetsuo's stomach and intestines fall out in a hallucination and he tries to put them back in.
When Tetsuo is attacked by the bear made of toys and milk.
When Tetsuo walks into the army guys in the hospital and releases a shockwave outwards and squishes them.
When Tetsuo is sitting on the stone chair with the red cap drapped around him and you see his new hand start to absorbe the chair.
When Tetsuo goes crazy and absorbes Kaneda and the girl and Kaneda escapes by firing the laser.

Good times...

On a related note, Kanye West's harder, stronger, better, faster film clip was based on Akira.
