Note: This thread takes place far before most of Althanas cannon, the story will follow Winter (Jack's past life) and Jolly.

Island of Seasons circa three million years ago....
The island of seasons was a truly strange place to live. The large island was divided evenly into four sections. Each section was ruled by a "family" of divine royals, Winter, Summer, Spring, and Fall. Perhaps family is the wrong word to use. Perhaps bloodline would be more accurate. Typically each ruler has ruled in his or her past lives. Father Winter was no exception of this rule.

Of course at this point in his life he was not Father Winter. His name was Polaris Bear. All rulers had taken many forms in their life, and the fact that he was a human born to a polar bear made it clear he was different. He had been raised to become a knight of Winter, to serve the new lord of ice when he arrived. At the age of twelve he could wield a sword better than most full grown knights could. By the time he reached the age of eighteen he had become an unstoppable force to reckon with.

It seemed the southern arctic winds would roar at his command, and he ice served him with no hesitation. Not only was he powerful, he was very handsome. He kept his face cleanly shaven, his clothes clean. He never left his home without spending at least an hour on his looks. His majestic mane of silver locks was kept out of his face, making sure his powerful teal eyes could gaze intently on anything and everything. It was rumored he could douse fires and freeze water just by looking at it. His skin was pale, like the ice he trod upon. His lips were blue from the perpetual cold. His breath constantly came out in fog, which swirled mysteriously around him.

He wore black trousers that clung to his legs tightly, and a black sleeveless shirt. Then he wore a white puffy jacket with arctic turn feathers on the hood, which showed he was a knight of Winter. His shoes were black and made from seal skin. Strapped to his back was an icy white longsword which he had dubbed Gale.

His real story started one cold and gusty day in the town of Berg......

Polaris lifted his feathered hood over his head and placed a white snow mask over his face as he stepped out of the icy castle that would be home to the new lord of Winter. As a senior knight it was his job to go seek out possible leads on where the new Winter was. Today high councilor Jolly had sent him to find another possible Winter.

He strode forward across the frozen drawbridge and turned to salute the gatekeeper as he stepped off. The bridge quickly rose up, leaving him outside the frigid moat. He turned and walked up to the gate on the outer wall. He again saluted the guard, who raised the gate for him, and lowered it when he had passed.

As soon as he had passed the outer wall a cold Arctic wind slammed into him. He fought a shiver back, and trudged forward. His sword, Gale, bounced on his back as he took every step. His hands were buried deep in his pockets seeking shelter from the wind. Shortly after he had left the wall he found himself on one of Berg's main streets. All around him he saw the mornings activities begin.

He watched several Anima set up a merchant booth. Anima were the main race of the Island of seasons. They were Animals who could talk, think, and had basically every human mental aspect. Several polar bears in white silver armor passed him. "Polaris!" they called out smiling. Several penguins hawked their wares noisily in the streets. He watched two seals haggle over fish prices in an icy booth.

There were few resources in the Winter quadrant, so most buildings, booths, and ships were made of ice or snow. Lining the streets were several sharp, angular buildings. Most of these were for businesses and shops. About fifty feet ahead of Polaris was the towns main intersection. from there four roads branched out in each of the cardinal directions. Those were what most travelers saw of Berg. But if you were a native, however, you would know that Berg was like an iceberg. Only 10% of it was painfully obvious. The other 90% was hidden.

Several back streets and alleys lined all of Berg, and spiraled out in a web of icy streets. These led to residential roads full of houses. If Winter was hiding in Berg, it would hard to locate him.
