To everyone who reads this, about all your characters:
Where did you get the idea?
How are they different/alike compared to you?
What made you come up with said character?

Polly came as sort of a mixture of different things. I wanted to play a character very different in personality and style from the characters I normally play--who are normally smart, daring, and the like. She's...not smart. Heh. If she was based off anyone, it'd only really be in terms of her personality, which is maybe like Osaka from Azumanga Daioh.
She's not anything like me at all. XD

Crossbreed of Drizzt Do'Urden, Artemis Entreri and me. The other two are parallel characters from the Legend of Drizzt series by R.A. Salvatore.
I tried basing a character off of myself for awhile. It didn't work - I was never really successful at putting my personality on paper.
I've played a magic dude of some sort forever, so I don't even remember where I came up with the original concept for Atzar Kellon. I've tweaked, altered, changed, edited and fiddled with his personality/history/appearance so many times that I've lost count. My next update, incidentally, will do it again.
Khariss Sevrath was somebody I came up with on a whim when I needed a character with questionable morals to stick in damn-near anything.
Huacamon Axayotl is a Mayincatec (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Mayincatec) character that represents my interest in Pre-Columbian America.
Inpu is similar, but Egyptian.
I started him a while back with the classic Lovecraft inspirations one receives upon completion of the Call of Cthulhu, primarily a shapeless abomination. Problem was, I hate starting a new character for the first time on any site, I just feel that they can only be rushed. I left, I came back, I didn't like what I saw. So REVAMPED him, and then added a few new things. My goal was really just to make a scary sort of character in concept, and one of the new influences was a character by the name of Aboshi, which really freaked me out. I think that answers 1 and 3.
As far as them being like me... I'm really good at introspection... or really bad. Either way, the commitment it would take to accurately portray myself is too much, and naming the fragements of my persona mixed in theirs is nearlly pointless.
Given he's a shape shifter, he has a number of personalities. By any comparison, Law is colder than I am. Ace is similar in that he's a brave face to something he doesn't want to talk about, partakes of violence for fun when possible, and relies more on strength. And the latest persona, Ashes, is a red headed attention seeker. I have plans for a violinist with a taste for music first, and then people. Overall, we aren't much alike, and there have been moments where the character has... repulsed me. Especially when he turns into a she and starts doing crazy things.
Ultimately, he's just the easiest for me to play, I just wish he was softer. I'd like to write happy moments once in a while, but there's always that thing hovering in the background.

Mmm... not sure how I'm going to do this without giving some stuff away... oh well!
To start, Azza's race concept was made for DnD and to be used in a world I built from the ground up. It's still more or less a work in progress. It's more of a generic fantasy world and doesn't have to just be for DnD though.
Basically, they're supposed to be the guardian's of their world, but beyond that, I think I'll give away too much. It'll be revealed eventually in the race profile as Azza grows.
I have a few characters that have Azza's race, each at a different generation/age group. Azza's group is by far the youngest. So, in a way, she's like me in being the youngest child in a family!
I suppose Azza's history mirrors my own in a way in that she felt like an outsider in her order and I felt like an outsider in my family and at school (this was back when I was younger, now I just don't care). Her older self was rather violent, don't know if she will be on Althanas, but in relation to me I used to be... rather unhappy with certain people. Grew out of that though (yay).
Azza's creation came about spontaneously as I was generating characters with her race profile to use. She grew on me though. I seem to like tragic characters more than the "I just saved the world! I am AWESOME!" characters. Then again... I have a habit of killing my characters >_>... so I guess I was subconsciously safeguarding against that by having a built in rebirth system in place for her race...
The Althanas version of Azza represents, more or less, a new beginning. So, a child stage seemed the most appropriate and also the most logical sense of how she even came to be here on Althanas since her race isn't native to the world. This way, since she's still a child, I can still decide on which path for her to go.
It's even possible wayfarers or scouts from her order have passed through, but, other than taking a look around and exploring, they would have left no significant impact, if any. Advanced techniques in illusions to hide their horns and wings would be a must if they wanted to mingle, but they most likely wouldn't have. Azza's race is surprisingly timid when associating with any other race than their own.
And... I guess that's probably enough out of me for now :D

Xos: Xos is my intelligent side, the part that loves to read up on science and know more about how the universe works, yet dreams of controlling magic, and imagining how science and magic might work together.
Valanthe: Is the part that loves nature, and believes there is still more to learn from it.
Destrudo: Simple desire for Death and Destruction in human form.
Irene: Chaos. Pure, simple, Chaos. The point of her creation was when I suddenly wondered one day out of the clear blue "What would it be like if every classic fantasy race were combined into a single being?"
Calbrena: A release for all those dark evil desires.
Ailnea: Godhand. His profile inspired me to wonder what it would be like of someone made a character and focused excusivly on speed, and speed based abilities, ignoring all other possibilities.
Esmerelda: Star Trek, Star Wars. Xenogears only gave the form.
Nightstalker: Ninjas are fascinating.
Rahegalhoff: Me, my faith, my doubts, my questions, and ultimately, the answers I've found.
NPC's:
Shadowlord: Psychiatry, pure and simple. I wanted to create a being that knew the mind extrordinarily well, and could play off of all its faults, and its strengths.
The Seven Deadly Sins: The Seven Deadly Sins.
Kajeenith: Every major Final Fantasy Villain from 4-10.

A lot of my characters come based on whims.
Jack was totally random but I kinda liked the idea and it grew on me.
Musica was more of a child hood memory. i played to many sonic adventure games and clocked half the game time in chao's so that's where he came from.
Chroma and Dark were a whim. Dark was sort of a copy of Train from black cat, but different. Chroma was kinda based off of Omega from sonic heroes. which is odd.
Leroy (JENKINS!) Dark was more of you Artemis fowl sort of character mixed with writing. I got him from listening to books 1-5 on audiobooks over the summer.
Caine flare was kinda put in place as a FOIL character to Jack. That's it on him.
Grimm was a copy off of another character in my head who was different. Grimm was loosely based on the Hunters from LFD, and his history also alludes to house of the dead. (his creator was Curien Goldman).
Lucien Gospel, whom I've dropped entirely, was made for another world I started creating called Arkon. He was made strictly for there, so he didn't work on Althanas.
Venn Nightshade was again from another one of my stories, but it was never really area/time/ landmark specific so I decided to alter his story slightly and ease him in. Due to the fact he was sorta underdeveloped at the time he made the transfer nicely.
Xeno was basically inspired by Xemnas.

Talen originally started out as a simple representation of me to some extent. I had to pick an element for him to use out of Fire, Earth, Wind, Water, Bio, Spirit, Light or Dark and I went with Dark, hence, the shadow spells he now has.
The original concept was of a 20yo who could use shadow magic, tall, pale skin and short black hair and always wearing simple black cloths (just like Talen now). The character then changed to very heavy armour clad man after he was disfigured in a quest. I then completely changed him to a lizard-humanoid (similar to reptile from mortal combat) and that was how he stayed till I joined Althanas.
For my other Althanas character, Twig, she is a re-think of another plant humaniod I had a long time ago called Bile. Twigs much nicer than Bile, but they have very similar start storied.
