There is going to be a new thread.

As the story goes Corone has just been hit by a massive hurricane, and the valleys of Concordia are flooded to the point where it makes more sense to swim, than walk. As things go, I'm planning to have a run in with some cultists who may or may not be friendly to present company, looters nestled in the trees, fishing, and a great monster about to be born.

Anyone in?

I want to hear more. Count me in.

I wanted to run this by a few people before I cast my hand. I want something that two other people will be glad to be a part of.

The basic concept behind the character is a servant to a being that isn't so much evil as careless. This is fine, I probably don't need to go into details about other plans, but Egrm'satchek is not one of a kind in the universe or even one of a kind on earth. There are a great deal of them spawning over the course of a few centuries. Not being to big on the scale, she's looking to stop another of her siblings from being born.

Eternally lazy, and irresponsible she is flooding Corone, and forcing the waters in slow currents and massive waves into the mountains where the newborn resides, it needing heat, but its volcanic chamber is now flooding. Sending Lawrence ahead, he intends to ride the current as the fastest way into the mountain range using a small fishing vessel.

In his path, are normal humans, of whom he is wary and to whom he is impossibly deceitful. In the branches of the Underwood forest, thieves know no bounds, and have already begun to scavenge, building bridges, pulleys, and swings to move with speed throughout the sunken lands. They will likely be the first problem we'll deal with. I'm really trusting that most people are willing to survive a hurricane and climb aboard a boat, but whatever happens, happens, and I welcome anyone to arrive in any way they choose.

The Cultists are a whole other issue being fully aware of the situation. They are working on using explosives to shatter the mountain valleys entrance to stop more water from arriving, while at the same time opening up a large fissure in the ground. They are above all else zealots, simply because they in their hearts are attuned to this new beast, and are more than willing to fight with their lives on the line.

I can't promise much on my end for spoils... but given that the country is about to become one tiny little pond, whatever you find, you keep, moderators willing.

I'm interested and I like the idea. I can figure out whatever spoils I would need, but I'm wondering how many people you want for this.

2? 4? If it's the latter, I then ask how long this would take? I'm not impatient but I've been around long enough to know that bigger quests often stagnate from lack of participation. And while this is a decent idea and I have my own touches I'd like to implement to help support what you're doing, I don't really like getting into things that stand a good chance of not finishing.

You and me both, Saxy. I'm looking for two people to join me, and I am totally open to breaking the threads up if necessary. I'm a patient person, but I can't be waiting till Christmas to get a thread done.

I'd love to hear your ideas, Saxon, lay em on me.

What interests me most is the idea of Corone being flooded. Essentially, it would be as if the island were sinking, which is an idea. But, I think this flood can be played off to a greater extent, I think. Think about a disaster like this and how it would affect the people here. For example, New Orleans the first few days after Hurricane Katrina.

If you've heard stories from the people who went there to help or who were there during the flood, they'll tell you more or less a similar story. The government vanished, the dollar was worthless and people were looting in the streets. I think I remember one person saying that the most valuable commodities during that time were fresh water and ammunition. New Orleans was an example of our society devolving into complete anarchy. The lawlessness in that kind of place is absolute and it really would test the moral fiber of our characters and everybody else involved. It might even be an idea to focus more on the disaster itself instead, depending on your preferences. However, that's for you to think about.

The second thing to consider is what Corone would be transformed into. It'd be a different world, indeed. I don't know if you're drawing your influences from bioshock, but it'd be something to look into of what it'd be like to go through some of Corone's biggest cities and famous areas that were either submerged in water or affected by the flood.

As for the magic and the cultists, I'm not really keen on the idea, but its your story. Let me know what you think.

Story wise, my character is already there, I don't need any more of a reason to be part of a thread beyond why my character bothers to stay. I can see what you are going for, and I have to admit, I don't to too many human centered pieces. All that chaos, no one knowing what they are doing... that would be sad... and entertaining. :(

This would need a certain kind of scope, wouldn't it? Following a particular group around through the draining wastes. I've been watching the 5 years later stories on CNN and watching the people up to their necks in water out in the middle east. To capture that kind of effect in words would be a beautiful undertaking. The question is, how do we execute it?

Lets keep in mind that this is not New Orleans. I'd imagine something to this effect would sweep Corone back years if not decades. Major resources would be the same, and people are people no matter where they are. Most people would probably try to leave, or stubbornly stay. The cities would be tightly packed with everything imaginable, and the wilderness would suffice for nearly everything we'd like to think humans don't have to go through.

I'd certainly love to see how elves handle crises, or just how long dwarves can stick together. Not for the magical aspects, but for the culture that seems to have been built around them.

I'm not entirely certain what my influences were, but I like what I'm getting. The atmosphere, thats definitely what concerns me most. How do you create something that oppressive in terms of words alone? I'd love to find out.

Cultists, magic... mere side notes. I like where we're going.

You know what? A grand majority of my threads have meandered, but the one that meandered most was also the longest, and first to be finished when people in the others either lost their free will to their dominant hand in whatever sport is their pleasure or died. You might appreciate a three day limit on posts, not just for you guys as I've got four classes, and work to handle. Of course, we have no intention of dying anytime soon both alive, and online.

Given that this will likely revolve around people, and not monsters, its not too appropriate that we call ourselves fighters. These are the people who made the cut.

Lovers: Sei Orlouge, Saxon, Dorian Sesthal, and Law in his many forms

Not much of a cut at all. =P Alright, now seeing as this has become a group activity what would you guys like to see? Where would you guys like to start? And where do you think we should go in the flooded lands? I still maintain the question of creating this kind of atmosphere, anyone? I like it, and I want to do it well, and without direction we just end up meandering about the cost whining or performing hijinks.

Personally, I'm thinking we join a group of NPCs who have survived the catastrophe. Of course, the thread could start before or during the hurricane.

You'd assume that the people who were wealthy before would remain so with mainly their positions weakened. Given castles were designed to be self-sufficient, the Barons would likely only have to contend with power struggles with their own knights. That would be one of my stops, witnessing the crumbling of a society.

It depends on where you would like the start of this to be. It'd be better if we all met up instead of just appearing together. Since most of the population is going to be displaced from a disaster like this and disease, famine, and crime are going to run rampant without any kind of intervention, it'd be interesting to see what life would be like days before the Coronian government actually assumed control of the situation and tried to stabilize it.

If they even could.

I imagine that Saxon'd probably be in a fallen town or sunken city trying to help whoever is there. Whatever role he'd play as a hunter or protector would be suspended as would most other people. He could be trying to get refugees to escape or something like that, for example.

Although it'd need to be done very quickly, my suggestion for meeting up would we'd be in these little areas trying to get to a place where we'd know it'd be dry or safe. Perhaps they can be helped along by word spreading of a place where there is still a foothold. Never said it'd be true, but they could always be mistaken. =P

EDIT:

As for the posting order. I'm about to become very busy once school starts. I'll try to keep up, but with 3 days and 4 people among us, I'm not sure how fast this is going to go. Hopefully we don't get stagnate at the beginning.

Knave
08-22-10, 01:53 PM
Alrighty, I'll get started, but first I'm going to do a once over on the place we'll start.

Anyone else have something to add?

Silence Sei
08-22-10, 02:23 PM
Well, given Sei's role as Hero and Protector, he's probably going around the area looking for refugees he can temporarily house in Ixian Castle.

Of course, we should have some of the less enthusiastic and loyal-to-home people turn on him, as people tend to do in disasters.

As far as the time limit. I can't say every three days on the dime but I can promise that I will be posting until the thread is finished.

I tried, I really tried. Hope you like it. The town is Svalta, since I take it we won't be running, with three willing and able hero types, I assume we'll be working our way up once we get everything in this thread settled. No?

Hey, I'm looking for a place to meet up, and they're all the same with the exception of Radasanth, which is under ice, and the coastal cities which are totally underwater. Heck, I even asked a few times where you guys wanted to be.

I've been out all day. Doesn't matter. I'll find some place. Gisela is corny anyway, sounds like you haven't frequented these parts too much if you're going by shit like this. =P

Question knave.

How deep is this water? You were able to dive in it, but from your post (I believe) you're only on the second story of a house.

Would Sei have to swim through the water, or would he be able to walk through it?

Paragon

I'll post last if anyone's wondering.

Knave
08-26-10, 06:14 AM
Well, like any town that hasn't been built by first totally enslaving the land, I' like to imagine the place has highs and lows. Ace is currently in the extreme, but as the water flows, we should see a decrease in the volume... but yeah, I hope Sei can swim. Or run the rooftops with dynamic ease.

Silence Sei
08-26-10, 06:48 AM
Both, actually, I was just typing up a reply and realized 'Ace dived into the water....' so I had to make sure before I actually whipped up a reply.

Knave

Then Sei has no problem getting up and about, given his hero status, just what exactly will Sei do upon arrival on the scene? I just have to know.

Silence Sei
08-26-10, 06:55 AM
Naturally, he'll try to help those that are still alive. Convince several people to move towards Ixian Castle and whatnot as refugees, send orders to soldiers to come help with the clean up process.

Order some trailers that never come to those who need them, and get otherwise offended when Rayse Valentino announces on air that Sei Orlouge doesn't care about Svalta people.
