Good day gentlemen, I am The State Of Maine.

Yes. I am.

...

I don't really have much to say. Honestly, I'm kind of hoping I could make an offer to take Rosa there for a spin. Bit daunting, such a large forum. Got a case of stage fright, perhaps. Don't really know where to start, so to say.

Either way, looking forward to seeing you guys out there. Cheers.

Welcome, very cool profile and character.

That's all I really have to say.

Welcome to Althanas! ^ ^ And don't be frightened, we don't bite. Well... maybe some of the characters can be, but the real person behind them don't!.... or do they?

I bite, and I bite hard. People are delicious, but clowns taste funny though.

Would one demon, care to meet The Devil herself?

Thank you, guys. In case it might come up in the future, I respond well to biting. So. Um.

Miss Aiko. Assuming I understand your offer correctly, I do think such an encounter would interest Nine. Perhaps further discussion would be appreciated?

The guiles dont bite, they sort of stare. Although Lucia has been known to bite in other ways.....

Welcome, good Thespian sir, to the grotto of madrigals in a sea of virulent, decadent trees!

Enjoy your stay amongst us!

Well hello new person. Have no fear, I'm pretty new myself. So welcome to the site.

If you ever want to deal with a bipolar demonic angel, then hit me up in my neck of the underworld.

Welcome to the ... uh ... entire State of Maine ... I guess.

Damn! We're gonna need a bigger forum.

Shit, State of Maine? You should've brought Stephen King for the ride. We could judge his stuff and give him a score of 60. :P

Welcome.

Welcome.

Nah. King would probably be the only person on this site to get perfect scores every thread.

Oh, there's all sorts of things that could happen. Being that you just started, the possibilities are endless. She does have wish granting powers after all. Part of it all depends on what you want to happen to your characters in the future.

For example: Rosa could find herself short of funds. Discovering Calbrena's wish granting powers she asks for assistance with this little problem. Everything comes at a price though, and in exchange for money, she would be required to give Calbrena a little bit of her soul. Just a small tiny piece, you'd never miss it.

However, with that piece gone, it would enable the demon greater control over Rosa. Eventually, someday in the future, Nine's control over Rosa would be so great, she would be his slave.

...

As I said, merely an example that sprang to mind.

What did you want, for the future?

King... Get perfect scores. If you'd please direct your attention to the althanas rubric, you'd see that there is a category for pacing and action, which in most stories (namely the more recent) King sorely lacks. I mean check out "The Langoliers" for christs sake. "Thinner" maybe? I'd say King's only decent stuff is "The Stand", and "The Running Man."

I would include the Dark Tower stuff on his list of good things, but he ruined it at the end, just like he does with every other ending.

Thanks for providing me with laugh out loud material though, Angelic.

King is clearly a sub-par 40, 'awesome' doesn't fit into our Rubric...:p

Pacing and action maye suffer in the face of batshit emotional creepyness, and thus he could very well find the exceptions. His grasp of mechanics all together would guarantee a forty, and from there I think I'd place him at a 70 easily enough.

Is of the school of students who think Mr King is a hack*.

*The one that thinks Stieg Larsson is much better.

While your suggestion was appealing, and definitely something Nine might attempt if he knew for certain he could pull it off, I'm not entirely certain.

Drastic changes like these are difficult for me, and although I recognize it would make for interesting development, it still feels hard for me to pull something like that on poor Rosa. In a sense, it might be this which tells me it's a good decision, but as you said, there's many things to explore.

Most importantly, desire. Nine is certainly the driving force here, seeing how Rosa's reasonably content with her life as is. The demon's ultimate goal at this point in time is liberty from his instrumental prison. Just pulling a "Set me free" on your wish-granting powers would be highly disappointing in terms of development, so that's a no-go. Technically, the encounter would not require such permanent and drastic consequences, but it would be interesting to see a lasting effect.

... oh my, look at all that rambling. I should get this straightened out. Yes, that is a plan.

If you can't tell already, I'm more or less writing this duo by the seat of my pants.

Hiya Maine!
Welcome to Althanas! Sorry I am apparently a day late, but it's still nice to meet you! If you are interested in pretty much any type of quest, myself and/or Silence Sei would be willing to help! And once Rosa meets either of us, she'll probably meet the army that lives in our house. Both of our characters are pretty much open to whatever, so if your interested just let me know!

King ran his well dry many years ago, Knave.

I never said he'd run dialogue, character, or any of those entertaining bits down. However, viewing the rubric as a scale of 1 -10 with the natural median being 5, I think he'd at least score that for the bare minimum riding writing style for the rest.

And yeah, his latest works are uninspired for the most part... and then there is the gold he gave the world, which a lot of people over look. The long walk was especially painful, and The Dark Tower up until the finale was pretty damn good.

I think he'd score higher than Paolini and Meyer. The old bastard isn't that bad yet.

I don't think Paolini would be in the top 5 on this site.

Just throwing that out there.
