1. His family was murdered right before his eyes and the only reason he was spared was because he submitted himself to the whims of his attackers. Whatever that could possibly mean most people didn't care to fathom, but this was one of the more persistent rumors. Believers point out his tendency to laugh at every misfortune and refusal of sadness or sorrow. Possibly in an attempt to permanently forget or down play his past.
