About

Name: Vir Re’estael
Age: 19
Race: Human
Hair: Pitch black
Eyes: Blue
Height: 6’4”
Weight: 211lbs
Occupation: Channeler/Mage

Appearance
Over other garb, Vir wears a bright white high-collared coat, the arms extending to well below his wrists, the bottom ending at his knees. It is made of tough, heavy material; to look at it and touch it, it feels like no more than silk, and is as light as, but it is made of an exotic thread, tightly woven, giving it incredible durability, as well as resistance to water, stains, and other impurities one might encounter, as well as resistance to magic he personally casts. The ends of the arms he usually folds back so that the material ends at his wrists. Under this Vir wears simple and light black clothing, the shirt made of real silk, with arms that only progress a few inches over his shoulder. The bottom he leaves untucked, over black pants made of the same as his coat. His boots are heavy black leather, and well worn in. He has tattoos of blue skeletal hands that cover both shoulders, each hand with two thumbs, the fingers pointing downward. His skin is very dark from years in the sun, similar in hue to that of a Latin American of Earth (not making a reference, just giving example).

Equipment
Weaponry
On a studded black leather belt Vir wears a short, curved sword of steel, about two feet in length, sharpened on both sides of the blade, though there is a wide margin between the sides, which is inlaid with various flowing shapes of leaves and sinuous lines.

Armor
Vir wears no armor.

Miscellaneous
Vir wears a necklace, holding a black oval pennant with a white skeletal hand with two thumbs like those on his shoulder. This allows his body to hold the energy his magic is founded upon when away from a source. Currently enables him to keep enough energy within him to do small things, such as produce light, for an almost unlimited amount of time, as it does not use much energy, though it will eventually run out in about 12 hours, and for more complicated spells he can cast twice before he is without energy. The more time he spends using the magic, the more his body is able to hold, thusly the more he can draw upon the stored energy without running out.

Skills/Magic
Magic elaboration: Vir draws upon (channels) a certain type of magic that is only commonly practiced in his homeland of Feisarn, thus is very unique in its execution. He can only cast while in reach of a source, and though they are many, there are areas in which there is no energy to draw upon; he can constantly sense the sources and locate them if need be, and also knows when there is nothing for him to draw upon. These sources are inexhaustible. It requires skill to work with, and also time in working with it to be able to do anything of much worth. As he uses the energy more, he will be able to do greater things, and a greater number of things at once, as he can only handle a certain amount without getting extremely exhausted, to the point of becoming unconscious for several hours. Anything is possible with use of this magic, though it takes time to know the process by which things are accomplished. Casting is accomplished simply by willing the magic to happen, though complicated things require concentration on what one is doing.
**One hour equals 4 posts**

Currently Known Magic
Illuminate Bright light projects from his skin, illuminating an area of about 10 feet around him, upon which the light stops abruptly. Clothing, depending on thickness, will either dim or block the light from escaping. He can control how bright the light is. Currently it can be as bright as five candles. While in reach of a source, Vir can use this for up to 12 hours, upon which he will feel sick and disgusted to even use the magic, so much so that he can no longer concentrate upon creating light or using any other sort of magic, and he must stop. This takes three hours to wear off.

Heat His palms become extremely hot, slightly above 150 degrees Fahrenheit. This he can sustain for up to one half hour per (IC) day before he must stop in pain, though before that time it does not bother him in the least. The heat does not radiate, so only what he touches is affected by this heat.

History

Vir was born and raised, until his 16th birthday, in the land of Feisarn, in the town of Amstuntd.

Long ago, there were many who could use the magic that he now wields. A great deal of these people became wicked and tyrants, dominating those who could not use magic, or those who could but were kind. They became the rulers of the land, splitting and dividing it into kingdoms. Competition among the wicked channelers was fierce, and the land was soon in turmoil, great refts stretching for miles, whole forests and villages decimated to infertile badland; all such things were caused not by armies but by atrocities worked by the rulers. Thus was it for over a millennia.

At last the peoples of the land banded together, and with their combined strength and help from kind channelers were able to overthrow the wicked. When finally victory was theirs, a new council united the broken land. In fear of repeating history, the council made it illegal to channel, an offense punishable by death at the gallows following mass humiliation. Those mages who previously helped the revolution were hunted down and executed, and the magic seemed to die out, as it was an inborn ability.

Vir was born two hundred years after the revolution, in a time where Feisarn was closely watched by everybody for any sign of channeling, which was always reported. He was born to an old family, all capable of channeling. They practiced their dead art in secret, living in secluded areas, though because of the paranoia of others, were unable to take their practice beyond the most basic of skills.

Vir lived peacefully, in his surname’s estate, which was large to accommodate the numerous members of the Re’estaels, but was close to a town. His parents, who were slightly reckless in their use of magic, but also very brilliant and ambitious, wished to rediscover the many things which were lost in the purge of channelers. For years they had experimented with their skills within the family’s underground hall, though the remainder of the family was far to cautious to join them. Vir was nearing his 15th birthday, and so was gaining the ability to channel, and they wished for him to have a better life than the one they lived, always hiding and looking over one’s back. Thus was it that they eventually made their exit, on Vir’s 16th name day, to leave the land of Feisarn forever upon the ship Geruuns, a nonnative traveling vessel.

Free from the oppression of Feisarn, they openly practiced their craft upon the deck of Geruuns, discovering much. Finally, they arrived upon the shores of Althanas, nearly three years after the beginning of their voyage, in a port in Anebrilith. They settled in the city, learning the new language, living simply by performing magic for audiences in inns for money. As was custom in Feisarn, upon Vir’s 19th birthday they told him that he must go and seek his on fortune and life, that he must never return to his parents, and thusly he went, as he was also familiar with the custom and more than ready for his own life. Following a day spent reminiscing, he left at sundown on his birthday, and so is it that we find him, a vagrant.

Just so I'm clear, because I'm a bit confused, the only magic he can use right now are his two spells, Illuminate and Heat, right? I take it the necklace and Magic Elaboration are there to explain future powers and such, but I want to clarify.

Yes the only spells he can currently use are the two listed there. The necklace is for energy when not in a source, and the Elaboration is for future abilities, which he can only gain the more he works with the magic. If he tries anything more than Illuminate and Heat right now he would be overpowered and black out.
