Ackthrice Malevos
11-26-10, 05:07 PM
Name: Ackthrice Malevos
Age: 347
Race: Gerath
Hair Color: N/A
Eye Color: Green
Height: With four feet flat on the ground, 6`8``, when he rears up on his hind legs, 7`4``. Note: he cannot walk on his hind legs it is merely an intimidation tactic.
Weight: 19 stone
Occupation: Hunter/Gatherer, Mercenary
Appearance: Gerath are built like centaurs, except that the rear half is reptilian instide of equine. Ackthrice's lower half is quite low slung and bulky, so his gait is not a smooth one. His scales are a metallic green, kept well polished and smooth. His upper half is that of a human man, moderately well built and dark skinned. Down his back, instead of hair there is a track of dark hair tangled from the base of his neck down to his waist, where it stops at the scale-line. His face is angular and stern, his eyes small and topped by shaggy eyebrows on a thickset brow. He has a fairly short muscular tail, used for balance when he bounds and for thumping the ground when he is angry. A large circle is tattooed across his chest in purple ink.
Personality: Gerath is proud, and self-reliant to a fault. He is also violently opposed to most bipedal races, simply because they usually hate his quadruped form and so he wants to get in first. He is impatient and not subtle, either in his mannerisms, humour (which is frequently vulgar) or approach to problems. He can only really be cowed by superior physical strength, though he has respect for intelligence, particularly arcane knowledge. In short he does things because he wants to do them or because he is incited by genuine fear.
History: Coming soon, because I'm struggling with a unique and interesting history at the moment. :P
Skills/Abilities:
-Ackthrice's upperbody strength is the same as that of a well-built human. His low limbs are considerably stronger but are rarely used in combat as his weapon allows him to keep enemies relatively distant.
-Stamina, when loping (running about 75% of full speed, if walking is around 25%), he can run for almost 10 hours straight. All his speeds are about 90% of average humans, due to his bulk.
-Using his claws, Ackthrice has above average climbing abilities, from bark to cliffs.
Magic:
Gerath magics are highly ritualised and involve lots of pounding the ground with claws and chanting and drawing symbols in the air to prepare. Due to this it is not very useful on the fly (with exceptions, see below) but must be prepared in advance. Ackthrice can memorise only 2 spells at any one time. The ritual involved in memorising imbues enough power to cast a spell three times before it must be relearned (unless otherwise stated). A shortened ritual can be used that only imbues enough power for one use.
-Thunderous roar: The only spell that can be cast at will, as it involves merely yelling the words, which are unleashed as a primordial roar and a spray of sparks. While direct contact with the sparks may cause burns, mostly they are just for visual effect.
-Static Explosion: Sparks and light jump across his scales before coalescing forming a glowing coat for a split second before unleashing a moderate electric charge into the area surrounding him to a distance of five feet. This can ignite small flammable items such as paper or leaves (but not large branches etc, even dried).
-Thunderball: Casts a below averagely powered ball of storm power for one hand
-Heaven's Hammer: Once per thread/not used in citadel (even if unsuccessful). Only one use per ritual/ no shortened ritual. Ackthrice calls upon the gods of the Gerath and ask for their power. 4/5 times this works and calls a bolt of lightning down from the heaven to strike a particular place. Can be dodged though a small explosion occurs on impact...
Equipment:
Ackthrice's weapon is a long chain, made of iron, with small spikes attached to every third link. He swings and whips this to keep enemies distant. It is said to be forged from the chains of an ex-prisoner freedom fighter who faced down an empire, but it is unknown if this is true and the epic status does not appear to have conferred any special abilities to the weapon. It is usually carried wrapped around the torso, though when in use it is usually found tied to one or both forearms.
Battle Horn: a plain ram's horn that trumpets when blown into.
Ok, that's about it I think... Let me know what you think...
