TL:DR - AFK, back in May

The title states the whole purpose of this thread, so if that's all you want to know, that's all you need to read. But if you're nosy (like myself) and like to know why people vanish for months at a time (like myself), well, you're in luck.

I am a senior in college, and my major is Elementary Education. And, as a result, the next six months of my life will be devoured by a giant ball of time-eating fire known as Student Teaching. I have been told to expect anything from nervous breakdowns, month-long bouts of strep throat, getting up at five am after going to bed at three am, and any other variation of the above. I will be spending three weeks before Christmas (starting tomorrow morning, actually) with 2nd graders, and fifteen weeks after New Year's with 4th graders.

I'm actually pretty excited about the whole deal, but with the...somewhat pessimistic precautions of my peers and predecessors, I am making a preemptive strike on my free-time and paring down on the time-sinks. I'm one of those freaks that had to officially tell game sites when I am going to be Gone For Prolonged Periods of Time, so...consider yourselves told.

I will see y'all in May, don't blow up the site while I'm gone, I'm curious to see what you'll have after six months.

you'd be surprised, Saxon. Several of my friends just graduated this past May... they were practically dancing on air when they finished their student teaching time.

on another note, i'm an Early Ed major, though I'm just now finishing my general ed requirements (soooooooooooooooooooooo glad too). Good luck with your student teaching. I'm sure you'll do just fine (even it seems like you aren't, you probably are).

Shit, I'm just glad you're not leaving for good.

Good luck with all that. I spent some time teaching students briefly at a private academy but they were preparing for their college entrance tests/high school equivalency tests, the ICFES. It was...Ehh. I mean the job is supposedly waiting for me if I want it back but these- forget it, it's too boring a story and far too tedious to get into + not my fucking blog.

Nobody likes being an intern. Its embarassing, you're treated like shit and in most instances except this one and a few others you do it all for free. But, in any profession that demands experience before you even have a chance to get it, this is your opportunity to seize it. Just saying from personal experience that such things aren't all the gloom and doom that they're made up to be. To each their own, I guess.

Aside from panicking and removing yourself from everything you know to focus on this, Ink, I was just saying to take a step back and examine the opportunity you're being presented with. I'd worry less about it disrupting your life and more about what you can get from it.. but, whatever. See you in May.
