Fayne
12-08-10, 04:21 AM
Name: Caelryn Fayne
Age: 22
Race: Half-Elven
Hair Color: violet
Eye Color: teal
Personality:
Caelryn, or Fayne as she calls herself, tends to be selfish and has little respect for the lives of other people. She is mostly unsociable and dislikes working with others even if it is towards a common goal. Ever since discovering a cursed blade sealed in a frozen pond, her cold nature has only become worse to the point she has no qualms about murdering innocents. Fayne is quickly developing a sado-masochist hunger that she now looks to nurture, continuously looking for excuses to swing her blade at someone. Though Fayne doesn't recognize order and rules, she can sometimes be fair in rare circumstances where the person in question acts as a direct benefit towards her.
Appearance:
Fayne is a very pale skinned half elf that stands at 5"6 with a lithe, acrobatic body as a result from being on the move for nearly a decade. Her dark violet hair is usually the first thing people notice about her and she partially ties it in a thick, wavy tail while letting the rest fall a third down her back and touching her shoulders. On her face she usually wears a neutral, unfeeling expression enhanced by large teal eyes that give innocence to her entire look.
Because she strives to be adaptable, she keeps her clothing light so it could never burden her no matter the situation.
Fayne wears a sleeveless black and violet leather tunic with a short tight fitting skirt. They are made thin, affording little protection against attacks, but allow her far more freedom to move than standard leather armor. Unlike most adventurers, instead of being weighed down by leather boots, she walks on simple black sandals secured by straps against her ankles that allow her to move with much quicker ease and mobility than the common adventurer. Her only accessories include a pair of leather wristbands worn on both arms and fingerless gloves to prevent light cuts.
History:
In her childhood, Caelryn has been living with a deadly clan of swordsmen, renowned for their skill and speed. Being a single child, her father passed on his skills throughout her teenage life. She had been aloof and overconfident of her abilities throughout this time and always ended up besting the boys in combat. Eventually her pride swelled to the point she believed to be a worthy asset to the clan despite being so young and secretly ventured out with the clan warriors upon their next dangerous mission. This turned out horribly for her, as she ended up grievously wounded by a spear wound that nearly took her life. Forcefully detained within the clan, and weakened horribly from her vicious wound, she was from then on left out from all combative activities. Caelryn quickly grew to be brooding and depressed, holding the men of the clan in deep contempt until one day, by complete chance she comes across a frozen pond in the winter when sent to gather herbs for her dying father. This was where she would find an old, cursed blade. The ice of the pond glowed red as light radiated from the sword's hilt. Drawing the blade, she felt the swords power empower her, the glowing hilt of the blade dimming as it did. She figured she must have found an ancient weapon that didn't have much power left, though the power that escaped it did completely restore her body to fighting strength. However, the swords remaining magic also amplified her brooding nature and contempt, which began to lead her down a path away from her clan, re-awakening and strengthening her desire to one day become a killer without comparison. From that day on she simply began to call herself Fayne, leaving behind every single thing she had from her clan and not bothering to find out if her father survived his battle wounds. All she took was the sword.
Skills:
Blade: Fayne is better than most people when it comes to fighting in close quarters with her blade as she moves much quicker than the common fighter. Because of her years of sparring and fast movement, she is above average with the sword and only has some ways to go before being considered an expert.
Marksmanship: Having hunted within the clan, and stealing a short-bow soon after leaving for the world, she has gained average skill in hitting targets from a medium and short range. If she gets about a minute to aim and focus, she can hit from much further with greater accuracy.
Throwing: Fayne can very quickly throw her throwing knives at her targets and with some accuracy but she can't pierce well from afar. When compared to most knife throwers, she is merely average. She favors these weapons best for quickly taking out weak monsters.
Athletics: Fayne is very good at getting around, and can do so quickly. She can clear most obstacles with ease, leap good distances and is fairly nimble on her feet when it comes to dodging blows up close. Despite her clan never traveling close to the sea, she has taken up swimming and trains to use water to her advantage in a fight where to others it would spell a quick end to their life. She focuses on adaptability and speed and while she is strong; she does not have as much strength as the average fighter trained in using heavier armor and equipment. With her current skills in athletics, she is above average and almost an expert.
Stealth: She is by no means an assassin, but can walk to produce barely a sound and tumble quickly past corridors without anyone noticing. Compared to thieves who have met some measures of success, she is average.
Equipment:
-Fayne's most prized possession is her cursed sword, a blade sleek and bewitching to the eye. Its a very slim weapon that she fights with one-handed and is very curved. It is much shorter than most blades but that's makes it far, lighter and easier to wield, allowing her to attack almost twice as fast as the average swordfighter. Though it is made out of steel, the blade itself can't pierce or stab through armor tougher than leather or any kind of shield but combined with her skills, the weapon can be devastating against lightly armored individuals. Another weakness of the blade is that its unreliable to parry or block with, due to its weight.
-Being an able hunter, Fayne carries with her a very light short bow carved from a yew tree. With these arrows she also wears a very small quiver with ten arrows with small, but sharpened iron tips. The bow itself takes a lot of effort to fire an exceptionally long distance, and it isn't strong enough to ignore armor, but it can puncture a lightly armored place with ease.
-Around her waist, Fayne wears six very short daggers that she uses primarily for throwing at enemies. They can be thrown very fast and in quick succession and two at a time, but they are crafted out of thin steel so they can be unreliable against an area covered in tough leather. The daggers can also be used in melee range if she manages to sneak up on someone.
