I recall reading about some sort of library earlier when I first joined, and know I've introduced a sort of sub quest were my character, Jack Frost, is looking for a few tomes from a collection based on ice magic. Where the hell would one go to look for lost books?

Sure we got libraries... if they aren't in the Canon, then just make em up! If you're looking for inspiration, I'd recommend reading something by BlackandBlueEyes... cuz his character is a librarian.

My character Madison's got a second-hand book store with all sorts of crazy stuff we could just make up. But for a while I had her tending desk and organizing shelves at the Radasanth Grand Library, which I'm pretty sure I made up when working on her updated character profile. Hope that helps.

I put a library in Ettermire, the capital of Alerar. Antioch had an old library in the port town of Larapool, with the book for a book exchange system going.

I'm personally interested in this whole library thing. I know Ataraxis's character was/is a librarian at one point herself, but never found out just where. Visla, where is this Uiria? Is it someplace you made in the Other Regions, or something else?

To everyone else: there are plenty of libraries on Althanas. Most players have integrated libraries into their characters. You can ask Zook Murnig, Saxon, BlackandBlueEyes, Ceidon, or Visla Eraclaire, as their writings reference libraries quite a bit. If you're interested in Althanas official libraries, each of the schools: in Scara Brae and Raiaera, have massive libraries. For more canon, you can go to the source: Taskmienster.

There is now a quasi-magical University in Scara Brae, which no doubt has a vast repository of tomes in it's hallowed grounds.

The Tantalum (sic, me) have a vast collection of plays and theatrical guide books, and I imagine there are several members on Althanas not yet mentioned who have brought libraries or similar entities into being through their writing.

Ask around, I'm sure they'll crop up.

I might want to go from more of a mixed melee-magic character to a full on magic based character. I have big plans, and I would love the challenge of doing it all within whats already existing. Why reinvent the wheel if the old model works just as fine.

You could copy get inspiration from Avatar and have the mysterious Great Library.

I'd find a library, then have the plot revolve around gaining access to a forbidden/hidden part to find the books you want. *shrug*

OT: I would imagine Raiaera has all kinds of libraries filled with magical books. On the other hand, those may or may not have survived the ravaging of the undead. On the other other hand, that could make for a pretty fun quest.

I would only assume that the majority of the elven libraries would be in the Blade Singer Council chambers and University's, so would remain intact even with Xem'Zund's war.

How one gets into those places, that's the real difficulty, the elves are worse than the undead in every regard.

I actually got an interesting idea for something to write on the way back from court today, so maybe I'll do it over the weekend. And aparently Angelkos has some interest in Uiria as well, so, maybe I'll even write with someone. In any event, it's a hell of a lot easier to make time for snarky posts about people who suck than it is to write a decent thread.

Jack Frost, not only are you intentionally inviting trolling (which in itself is trolling), you're spamming everywhere on the site. While I like seeing that there are 100 new posts every day all of that excitement fades when I find out its in two different threads with 40 posts belonging to you. Do not spam. You have a chat room for random conversations and many people have posted their contact information to talk in private. Spam again and you'll be made miserable.

Do you listen to admins? Max actually runs the place. I only joke around with him because I've known him for years. I wouldn't recommend that for others.

You think everybody picks on you because of your age. You're wrong. Nobody cares how old you are; it's your immaturity that sets people's teeth on edge. People younger than you have become well-liked members of the community, because they carried themselves in a way that commended them as intelligent, thoughtful, likable, mature people.
