I know its been mentioned a lot, but the judgings are kinda slow. I know you guys are busy with family and such and you're doing your best but... I want to make a special request...

But well I turn 16 on the 31st, and I think it would be an awesome personal birthday present if I could submit my level one profile on my birthday. I know its pretty lame, but think about all of those things you never got for your birthday as a young man/woman. If you could dig down deep and find the Christmas spirit to grant my wish it would really be appreciated. I don't require much, just a judging or two, just enough to get me to level one. I don't even need commentary like I may have requested. I don't need my battles judged, just the quick, easy quests I did. There's like two of them and they're probably really good. I can't tell because I'm biased.

Please?

Side note: I will have Jack make you cookies....
Also, I get the feeling this won't work.

You'd be better off sending a personal message to the head judge about this than making a post about it. It's the holidays. Just as you would enjoy a level 1 profile as a present, others might enjoy some time off and with their family. There was already a thread made about this too, and you even admit that it was mentioned.

/sigh

Despite the fact that we all would like the Judges to get into gear, Sei has already mentioned to both myself and the public that, seeing as it's the holidays (bah, humbug), things will be slower than normal. Which, seeing as the judging system is generally slow normally, doesn't bode well for the winter season. Which in itself sucks, as I find that inspiration often comes in the winter, when people have naught better to do that stay at home, drink hot chocolate and write. But perhaps that's just me.
Like Artemis said, it would have been best if you had just sent a personal message to the Judges themselves. But hey, your call, kid.

I WANT A PONY, A ROCKET CAR THAT HOVERS, A LEVEL 15 PROFILE AND YOU TO SHUT THE HELL UP!

Wait...I didn't get any of these? damn...

look dude, take into account that this is all based on volunteer work. They aren't paid to crater to our whims. Second off, half these judges (and by half I mean 75% and up) have families, and not the mommy and daddy and wife, but kids, babies and relatives to deal with. Not to mention the holidays mean busier working schedules and longer days at work. The last thing I'd want to do when I got home was sit and read and review someone's work.

Happy birthday to you, in all its honest intent. But seriously, you are acting like an eight year old. Grow up, get in line, and learn the first lesson of being sixteen. It's just as shitty as being fifteen, and fourteen, and all the others. Free of charge.

Yes, OK, I'm pretty sure he got the message. No need to hammer it home over and over again.

Jack, unless you're digging the attention, it's more effective to submit these kind of requests to someone on the staff, as was said already. You don't get punched on the nose in the OOC and you get a concrete response sooner.

Also Paul, dude, it's a bit hypocritical to call someone out for acting like an eight year old when you're acting like a fifteen year old.

But notice I'm not Eight. Key difference. And I wasn't a total douche. I did wish him a happy birthday when the day arrives.

The point is that you haven't acted your age in that post either. And if you put a cherry on top of a shit cake, it still tastes like crap. Let us just leave this to either Sei or one of the judges to respond to, shall we?

but the whole point was the judges were to busy with family, so, in my humble way, stepped in. there, got in a final shot. we can go to pm if we need to really pace like goats in heat

..........

some of you don't have to be so mean. It is not like he was -demanding- it. He was just wondering about the possibility while at the same time aware it would likely not happen because of so and so.
I do not see the problem here. It takes some courage to ask and I fail to see exactly why some of you think Jack is immature. *sighs* For a boy of fifteen, he seems leagues ahead of the rest you come across, in my eyes at least. -_-""
*finishes rant and walks off*

I vote this gets locked up and Sei, whenever he sees it, sends a PM over to Jack regarding this. The sooner this ends, the better.

Sorry Jack, I don't mean to be a jerk, I hope you know that. I just feel like this will serve it's purpose with people seeing it and they can PM you their response. Or you can personally PM the judges and ask them one at a time and wait for them to respond. I just am concerned that one may end up feeling guilty saying no and end up doing it even though they don't want to, so my suggestion is to just wait and not hope for special treatment.

If they cater to you first, it might upset others after all, given that it's a first come, first serve basis.

^^ Happy early birthday though.

Watch out. Apparently treating their favorite new player like every other new irritating person gets treated everywhere else on the internet has harsh consequences. ;)

Lighten up, guys. You can baby him now, but it's just giving him a sense of entitlement and you aren't going to keep it up forever.

Also, in addition to being something that should have been addressed via PM, this was already a thread (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=22142) and an announcement. (http://www.althanas.com/world/announcement.php?f=&a=91)

Judging is a very slow process. With how much the staff adores you, Jack, and the rate of turnover, you'll probably be a judge yourself within a year and you'll be able to find out why. Reading things you don't necessarily want to is a slow process. Think homework but without the grades or the deadlines (i.e. the only things that ever made anyone do it)

Alright guys, I go to sleep for seven hours and I get hammered, but I understand the point. I'm not at all offended by any of this, and EI even sent me a PM apologizing. I only poted this thread up becuase the goal was really important to me. However I will simply modify it to a new years resolution with higher standards...

Thanks for the reply, I'll send an admin a PM to close this thread.

Edit:
So judging is like English homework, which is my best subject? OH BOY! I just hope none of you write like Hemingway...

I started Althanas (well the IV to be precise, but I don't think I was there more than a few months) when I was like, 14. And lemme tell you: I thought I was pretty mature for my age. Now, uh, I think I'm even less mature than I was then.

The lesson is, realizing how immature you are is the first step to maturity.

I would hope that none of do write like Ernest Hemingway. As classical writers go, he is a terribly droll example of 'classic', never mind 'English writer.'

Hopefully you can set your standards a lot higher, not just for Althanas, but for your pursuit of English as a subject on the whole.

As for the matter of judgements, to re-iterate: our judging staff are either just finished with their semesters, or have family commitements to attend to during the holiday period. As I am stuck in with the blizzards, and writing my last assignment due January and working on my dissertation, I will endeavour to tackle as many as I am mentally and physically capable of doing.

There is a backlog, no doubt about it, so it's first come first served I am afraid.

Patience is a virtue, :).

Ah, the backlog. The final refuge all judges go to as a representation of the absolute burden they must bear.

I've tried to resist, but really, its like waving a steak in front of a hungry dog. But you two disgust me with how much better either of you think you are then someone that actually made it as a writer.

I've read shit from both of you. Really, you both ought to learn some humility. And quick.

Lemme put final say in this.

While I would normally not have a problem with doing this under normal judging circumstances, there is quite an extensive backlog, and I'm afraid granting any thread ahead of another just isn't truly feasible right now. I'm sorry if I disappointed you Jack, and Happy Birthday btw, but holiday season, and the backlog have my hands tied.

Thanks for the final word Sei.

@Duffy, finally someone who dislikes Hemingway!
