Years back you didn't see a page without at least half a dozen open threads. Everything nowadays is closed or a solo quest. Far be it from me to tell others in what manner to write, but it'd be a nice improvement if more open threads were tossed up there. Get some more community writing going on. Just some food for thought. I'll be working on this myself soon.

threw up actually a whole bunch of requests lately, just hit the end of most of them. A lot of Power group activity is starting also, but once those initiation threads are complete i'm sure more open ended stuff will come about. Some people also like structure before going into an unknown quest, wanting at least some clear idea before they get stuck in a wild goose chase with no idea where it ends. Lord knows we've all done a quest like that.

Most people have open recruitment for quests prior to beginning them now so in that sense they are still "open."

I think the general issue I have personally is that my characters inhabit a very niche world, that is, Scara Brae's theatrical district. They are also pure good or lawful good or chaotic good alignment, and the vast majority of characters here aren't exactly the sort of company they'd take to.

If you have suggestions, and one of the non Tantalum troupe is workable, I'm game for anything though :).

I too remember the days when there were much more open quests, and I mean old school open when people just made an opening post, placed "open" in the title and waited for someone to post. But I think today's state is a natural evolution. A lot of people nowadays chase a certain storyline and you can't do that with just about anybody, mostly due to unreliability issues. There are less threads nowadays that are made just for the fun of it, stories that set out with no specific outline, and that's both sad and encouraging. Sad because there's not as much randomness about it, but encouraging because people are clearly taking their writing more seriously.

Hence the reason I made a battle thread this year, partnered with EI, for the sheer wanting to make fun of my character, and I still only lost by a point.

A good portion of my threads have pre-recritment options, or I typically IM the newer peopl about making a random fun quest.

Would you like to do some with Sei, BIG. Sei is very versatile as far as alignments and everything else.

I dunno, I still see a decent number of open quests, at least relative to the activity of the site. But like people said, they're open before the quest actually starts, via recruitment threads, which makes sense to me. A story flows more smoothly if you've got things like that worked out in advance.

An idea actually came to me that will help this sort of thing along. I'll be posting about it in the recruitment thread shortly.
