View Full Version : Sir Ectonis Magus

Ectonis
08-08-06, 08:26 PM
Name:: Ectonis Magus

Race:: Human

Age:: Mid 40's

Sex:: Male

Height/weight:: 6'10 285 lbs

Alignment:: As good as the snow is white. He is more pure than light, and keeps his lawful word always. He has never lied, cheated or stolen in his entire life. He is the literal manifest of Human goodness. He will never willingly side with Evil, unless they are trying to reform, and in this case, he will dedicate all his time to showing them the path to righteousness. He understands not all people can uphold his high standards, but sometimes he must put his foot down.

Description:: Ectonis is a powerfully built Human. He is tall and strong as an ox, but triple the intelligence . His barrel chest is always encased in a huge amount of metal, but he carries it with ease. He is kind of slow and clunky in his attacks, just due to its massive size.

The Paladin has long brown hair and a short brown beard. Tinges of gray speckle his facial hair, especially in his moustache and the wrinkles where he was commonly smiling. He has a voice equally as powerful on the battlefield as on the pulpit. He wears a single robe on his back, more of a ceremonial decal. He never bears a helmet, as he believes it constricts vision and breathing, and he places enough trust in his deity that he would be protected.

He has no scars, and he is in perfect physical condition, blessed with life from his Deity. His age totals about 40. His eyes glow slightly of holy white, just a tad, enough to make him look angelic. He constantly vibes of holiness, and the mere sight of him enlightens all.

Weapons:: A Monstrous two handed sword. It's hilt features a gold-plated sword-break and copper handle. The blade is made from cold steel that is a dull gray in color. It is a very holy sword, blessed by the highest priest in his temple. Along the war-hardened blade is etched "Ligtus Prevalus" Prevailing Light. It has saved his life more times in battle than any ally, and it is a link between the mortal body he owns, and the faith of his followers and Deity.

Armor:: Steel plate mail with a single silver cross on the front. It offers moderate protection for most weapons, but piercing-types such as spears and arrows are its greatest weakness. It, too, was blessed, and he considers it one of his most prized posessions.

Abilities::

Heal- Ectonis, by uttering a select few words, can heal light wounds, It isn’t very taxing, but individuals can only be healed every so often(5 posts or so) Ectonis is just a mortal vessel, and seeing as he directs the flow of a god, too much too often would have serious effects of the Paladin.

Blessed Resistance- Ectonis is slightly resistant to Curses, Diseases, and negative magics such as Slow, Confuse or Death Spells. While Rping I will have him shrug off about 1 in 10 of such magics.

Purge- Ectonis breathes a word of power to instantly harm all undead within a fifty foot radius. They are damaged, knocked back a few feet, and unraiseable once dead. (PC undeads could take their own course of action)

Sword Skill-Large Although Ectonis is talented and adjusted to his sword, he cannot use other weapons of any kind. His abilities grant him average skill with the weapon.

Personality:: Ectonis is a Paladin, and Paladins are the meaning of Kindness, Generosity, Giving, Self-sacrifice, and Faith. He will selflessly defend others, and protect the innocent, while bringing swift and hard justice to those who break the moral code of life.

History: : Ectonis, once just a farm boy, grew to become a well-known Paladin. His life was started milking cows and plowing fields. He was a highly religious boy in a non-religious family, so on the Sabbath he would wake up as early as he could, finish half his chores and then return home to do the rest. He always would read his Book of Light, and would constantly try to convert his family. He grew up a little, and enlisted in a military academy.

His massive size began to appear at this time, and he usually overpowered those his age. He wouldn’t brag about it, like most big guys do, and instead he would help them in spare time. For this reason, his class was always one of the highest ranking in the academy. Most of his fellow students chose to study in Broad Swords or Short swords, but he selected an enormous blade to be his specialty.

After he graduated, he was taken to the army, where he proved his fighting ability in battle after battle. He leapt in ranks, from private to sergeant, colonels and lieutenants, until eventually he was knighted. In all this war, he never lost touch with his religion. He was eventually brought before the Church of Light, and then they gave him an honor that hadn’t been given for years, he joined the brotherhood of Paladins.

Since then he has been healing wounded troops, commanding legions of loyal soldiers, and preaching to his church. That church however, has told him to go forth in the world, and explore in their name. Convert, and bring justice to the name of Light.

Put swordplay down as a skill, and say he's a below average swordsman as long as you make the following edits.

For his armor, does resistance against evil really mean anything? What I'm asking is, what does it help him resist, temptation or something tangible?

For heal, keep in mind that 5 posts means five of your own, not five in the quest. Otherwise you could heal every post in a 6 person quest, heh.

Alright. I made the swordplay skill, and I understand how the post system works(because yes, that could easily be taken advantage of) And my whole blessed armor thing I changed. It is now just very important to him (meaning unsellable) I can always get it blessed later. Speaking of which, when I level and get gold and all that juicy stuff, I was wondering if I could just(pay of course) get my armor BLESSED to be harder? Keep with the whole paladinthing. I would be charged by the bazaar andstuff, but I feel it would be a nice touch.

That could work. You could also do it in a quest, to have it make a bit more sense. But either way should work just fine.

Approved.
