Recent History:

If anything can be said about William Arcus’ recent activities, it’s not that he’s been lax. William and his team of hunters have been kept busy dealing with a variety of monstrous creatures; the Oni of Waukasha, the Scara Brae Wendigo, and the Hauberlak Buffalax to name a few. Some have brought him power and prestige, while others have brought him scorn and ridicule. No matter what though, he shows no signs of slowing down.

William has also continued his combat training with various masters and has extended it to ‘training’ matches against his peers, the other Ixian Captains. While the stated purpose of these encounters if to raise morale among the various squads within the Ixian Knights, William’s true purpose is to test himself in preparations for some unknown goal.

And if that wasn’t enough, William has continued his routine forays to the Citadel where he and his most hated rival, Jensen Ambrose, have put their enmity aside long enough to begin hunting down some of Althanas’ most dangerous historical figures. In doing so, the Revenant and the Immortal accidentally woke the evil known only as the Storm Herald and unleashed its ancient power upon Fallien. Their mistake didn’t go completely unrewarded, however, as the Storm Herald gifted his ceremonial weapon upon William in thanks.

Appearance:

William has achieved complete control over the dichotomy between his souls and is able to switch between human and demon form at will.

In this form, William is an athletic man, tanned and muscular from his years working in the woods. When he is particularly emotional or agitated, black veins of char ripple across William’s body, as if his skin were constantly cracking. He keeps his coarse black hair short. Even when he is acting jovial, there is a shark-like quality to his grin and a gleam of murderous intent in his eyes which now constantly burn like cooking coals when he’s not concentrating.

When demonic, William’s frame swells. He grows several inches in height and his athletic body swells, becoming thick and muscular. The molten heat of his power cooks him from inside, burning his entire body to blackened char with cracked rents which reveal the glowing, molten power flowing beneath. Spurs of charred bone cover his arms and legs, giving him steel-hard carapace up to his elbows and knees. The bony end of William’s fingers and toes end in razor sharp claws and his teeth are as long and sharp as the fangs of a hunting beast.

William prefers rugged, enduring clothes in colors that blend well with the woodlands that he frequents, and his clothes are covered in dirt and ash. William no longer bandages the parts of his body that aren’t covered by his clothes, though he continues to wear a heavy cloak.

Personality:
William remains stoic and humorless in the best of situations. Though he tries to be warm and friendly when the situation demands, he comes off more as unsettling and slightly wrong, as if he is only mimicking human behavior. Though his control over him emotions is much greater know, he is still prone to mood swings, which almost always swing towards anger. This leaves those around him with the impression that he is a short fuse waiting to ignite at a moment’s notice, which of course he is.

Skills:

Martial Combat – William, having supplemented his own natural fighting abilities with training from a variety of masters, has become a master of hand-to-hand combat himself. Though he prefers to just savagely rend opponents limb from limb, he knows multiple fighting styles that are equally useful when he is not in demon form.

Weaponry – William’s nature as a creature of destruction allows him to inherently understand the most proficient way to wield any weapon he picks up. Though he’s only a master combatant when using an axe, any weapon becomes deadly in William’s hands.

Claw Defense – William has mastered the art of turning aside and deflecting attacks made against him with the hard bone carapace that covers his arms and legs.

Woodcutter – William’s human life revolved around his profession as a forester. He knows the best, most efficient method of bringing down trees, hauling them, and rendering them into usable components.

Carpentry – William spent the majority of his adult life building things and shaping wood and is a master carpenter.

Well Read – While William might seem like an uneducated brute, and is treated as such by most who deal with him, the months he has spent reading through library’s worth of all manner of books in his quest to find a translation for the Tome of Kal’Necroth haven’t been for nothing. William is quite well read and at least somewhat knowledgeable on a wide array of topics.

Abilities:

Physical Statistics (halved in William’s human form):
Strength - 7x
Speed - 4x

Demonic Transformation – By calling on his demonic essence, William can transform himself into a demonic creature, shifting between human and demon forms at will.

Healing – William’s Revenant physique repairs damage done to his physical form. Minor wounds can now be healed in within a minute, moderate wounds within half an hour or so, and serious wounds within a day. The healing time for critical and lethal wounds takes several days at this point, which generally cannot be done within a single thread unless it too covers a significant period of time.

While in demonic form only: Toughness – William’s charred skin is thick and can absorb more damage than normal, acting as Beast Hide armor for the Revenant.

While in demon form only: Molten Core –The power that flows through William burns like fire, surrounding him with an aura of heat. Within 10 feet of William the air is intensely warm and uncomfortable for those not heat resistant. Within 5 feet the air is extremely hot and uncomfortable for those not heat resistant. William himself is blazingly hot to the touch, though not enough so to do any damage to anyone other than the most heat-vulnerable. This aura shelters William from a high level of cold and an extreme level of heat, though it does not prevent him from being frozen or burned by powerful enough attacks of those types. William’s blood is so hot that it can now ignite light flammable items that it comes into contact with (paper, wood, light non-special fabrics, etc.) and will cause second degree burns on bare skin.

While in demon form only: Magma Shot – William has learned to take the fiery demonic rage within him and physically manifest it as an explosive ball of liquid fire that he can project. Twice per thread, William can fire a magma shot which does heavy, explosive fire damage. After firing the second shot William's demonic power is temporarily exhausted, forcing him to revert to human form for several minutes.

Destructive Enlightenment - Having completed Jomil’s test at Icehenge, William was granted insight into his destructive nature by the Goddess. This ability is both a blessing and a curse for William, as everything he looks at decays in his sight, showing him the inherent weaknesses and impurities in objects that may be exploited. After finding the weak spots in something, William is able to increase the damage that all of his attacks do to that object. William can find weak spots in non-living material with a quick study and living material with at least a minute of study. This ability cannot be turned off.

Cursed Soul (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?20496-The-Sky-Is-Falling!-(Open)/page3)– Having accepted the Curse of Milleus Cordeaux’s to save the island of Scara Brae, William is unable to wield magic of any sort.

Special Ability (story related and approved by other party):
Linked By Battle – Jensen and William, Wind and Fire, are linked by the opposite spirits of battle and are destined to clash together time and time again. When facing the other as an opponent, Jensen's destiny increases his agility while William's increases his strength by 1x (currently up to 8x).

Union of Ages – Once per thread when William is fighting alongside any member of the Tantalum, he may use one ability from any Tantalum member for the duration of one post. The power is treated as if William were two levels lower than the Tantalum character (min. 0).

Equipment:
Heavy Traveling Clothes – Tough wool and denim apparel that wards off the rigors of travel and bad weather.

Tome of Kal’Necroth: The tome of ancient magic that Kal’Necroth used to create William’s Revenant body. William doesn’t understand it, but keeps it with him in hopes that one day he can learn its secrets and perhaps undo what was done to him. It is highly resistant to heat and is waterproof.

Translations of Kal’Necroth’s Tome (3 of 4) – Through his travels, William has found various methods of translating the words and symbols of the ancient tome that he carries. Once he has gathered enough translations, he will be able to unlock the secrets of the infernal sorcerer who created him.

Deadwood Rod: This rough hewn, bone white rod is long enough to function as a walking cane and is fashioned from the wood of a special grove a day’s march north of the town of Underwood. This wood has roughly the same strength and toughness as Akashima Redwood but with the added property that it absorbs blood that comes into contact with it. The wood becomes warmer as more blood is absorbed, and can grow hot enough to burn bare skin if enough blood is fed into it over a long enough period of time. This wood is also highly susceptible to magical enchantment, using its stored blood reserves to fuel any magic enhancement placed upon it. This rod has no magical properties at this time and has only absorbed enough blood to make it slightly warm to the touch.

Rime-Bound Cup: Awarded to William for winning the Rime Bound Cup contest. The cup is an iron trophy permanently encrusted in a layer of ice, which can be broken off in little stalagmites which constantly reform and the ice never melts whilst it's touching the cup. It is thus a source of water, comfort and kool aid support wherever it is taken!

The Lindquist Crown (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?20496-The-Sky-Is-Falling!-(Open)/page3): A steel helmet with side guards, nasal guards, and winged vestiges on either side. It has been restored to its previous polished shine and is almost angelic in appearance. It has a similar design to those worn by the Knights of Brae, only more archaic and detailed. It has the following abilities, usable once per thread (abilities must be used in human form only and must be purely for the benefit or salvation of Scara Brae and its citizens).
- Aura of Command: May rally and order City Guard or Knights to William’s side and allegiance. In a battle, this may summon two ghostly city guard, equipped with iron weapons and armor, for one post, or one Knight of Brae equipped with steel plate armor, sword, and shield for the duration of one post.
- Light of Lindquist: May sprout angelic wings to glide or descend as if avian and at double speed (not usable in battles).
- Pulsar: Can emit a blast of light that eminates from the crown and extends in a 20-foot circle and which repels evil spirits, undead, and demons who are weaker than the wearer.

Slave Chain (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?21639-The-Oni-of-Waukasha&p=176714#post176714): This golden chain looks thin enough to be broken easily but is deceptively strong. The chain has two shackles at either end, one for a master and one for a slave. Anyone shackled to the slave end of the chain is rendered completely subservient to the person shackled into the master’s side.

Skin of the Beast (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?21657-The-Beast-With-A-Thousand-Backs&p=176718#post176718): Enough skin was recovered from the slain Wendigo of Scara Brae to create a human sized full-body cloak. The beast hide cloak serves to shrug off most light to moderate piercing and slashing attacks. Heavy or concentrated attacks will still penetrate the skin, and it does nothing to deter blunt force attacks.

Warscythe of the Storm Herald (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?21975-Death-s-Pariah/page2): A single blade runs down the top third of this obsidian weapon which, despite its appearance, is composed of the same living stone that the Storm Herald himself is and is as light and strong as mythril. A potent weapon in its own right, the true power of this scythe becomes apparent when the wielder activates it, causing small discharges of green electrical power to arc from the weapon as the blade glows with a sickly green light. Twice per day, when activated, the blade can cut through any low level barrier (bone, light magic guards, or up to steel) and once per day it can cut through an advanced barrier (up to mithril). After all three attacks have been used in a day (regardless of whether they hit or not) the warscythe reverts back to its normal mythril state until the next day.

Looks good. Destructive Enlightenment and Slave Chain are both potentials for powergaming issues, so be careful with them (remember, under the new system items that grant abilities are considered abilities).

Approved. Welcome to level 7, the water is wine.
