The skeleton had never felt the need to purchase any goods. All his life he had either found the things he need around his house or been given them by his master. But recent, drastic changes in his life required him to visit the big city and do some shopping.

With a certain ease about him Krugor strolled along the many shops located in the busy market street. He got some disturbing looks from people passing by as he tried to localise a shop that would serve him in his needs. Of course people were yelling at him or carefully hiding when he approached them, it was very rare for a full grown, walking and talking skeleton to pass through the streets of the bazaar. Though, it didn’t bother Krugor in the slightest way. He actually liked the attention he’d been given.

So it wasn’t strange that the undead slammed open the door, flashed his brightest smile and said in a euphoric manner; “Good day, merchant man!”
Ignoring anything the shopkeeper might’ve said in return Krugor immediately started sniffing about in the dusty, old shop. Never in his life had he seen such beautifully crafted weapons and pieces of armor. Maybe except for the brightly colored, titanium full body armor that decorated his former mansion.

After several minutes of wandering through the small shop Krugor started to notice that none of this items had a price tag in the range of his budget. The ever so optimistic skeleton was actually feeling a little down until he noticed an iron, dented box shoved away in a corner. It was marked “Second Hand Goods”. As if Krugor knew what he was looking he picked out a small, curved dagger. The handle was made from fine leather while the blade itself was crafted from sturdy looking steel.

Twirling the weapon in his hand he walked up to the counter, shoved the dagger towards the shopkeeper and said; “How much for this wonderful weapon?”

Not waiting for the man to reply he quickly continued by grabbing his staff from his backpack and putting it next to the dagger. “Also, how much for upgrading this yew staff to platinum?”

Horror was something that had to be endured in a variety of places but seldom did it welcome itself into one of the Bazaar's many wonderful establishment. Today, the young teenage blonde girl behind the counter nearly jumped out of her skin when she saw her newest customer. At first, she thought it was some mysterious new race that she had never heard of before, but it quickly became apparent that this was no living creature, it was a skeleton.

Trying her hardest to wipe the fear from her face, she muttered through cold sweat. "80 gold... uh... Sir?"

She opened her eyes briefly to gaze at the staff then shuddered softly again. "Uh... We don't deal with platinum."

Krugor wiped some dirt from his eye sockets as he realised the person he had been talking to was in fact a young girl. She gave him the horrifying news that they didn’t do platinum. Quickly the skeleton searched the back of his head for any other metals he could name. The undead had never understood the different metals and had only heard of several sorts in his human lifetime.

“I’ll have you know, little girl” he started “that I once served in the army and there we battled only with platinum spoons! I suggest you better start dealing with platinum, for it might one day save your life!”

Satisfied with his intimidating attitude Krugor walked back to the dented box and took a similar dagger from it. In awe he viewed the craftsmanship, even though any other man would be disgusted by such a second hand dagger. The skeleton didn’t know better and thought highly of the blade, which was made from plynt instead of steel, like the one laying on the counter.

“Now, don’t take me for a fool. How much for this dagger and upgrading the staff to the same material?”

He watched at the girl behind the counter intensely, trying to frighten her some more. It was against his nature to do such a thing, but with these types, those hard-headed tradesmen, he couldn’t take any chances or they might run off with all of his possessions.

The sight of a skeleton was enough, but when it oepend its mouth and revealed the horrors that dwelt within its bony body, the girl could barely keep herself conscious. She instinctively curled her legs in a squat and took a deep breath underneath the counter.

It isn't as bad as the talking tree or the vampire... It isn't as bad... It isn't as bad...

The girl then rose, a fresh person reinvigorated. She saw through the skeleton, imagining a normal customer but found it so hard that she changed her mind and looked down at the wares that the undead had requested. She toyed with her pigtails while she spoke, trying to vent her fear and nervousness of something.

"130 for the dagger. And I think your stick thingy is Yew, so to convert it to a metal will be a bit more expensive? At about..."

More pigtail fiddling.

"200 gold?"

Krugor noticed the girl regaining her confidence and it hit him a bit off guard. The price of the dagger was absurd compared to the steel one and he knew there was no way the thing was worth that much pieces of gold. It was a beautiful piece, yes, but the shopkeeper was obviously tricking him with silly pigtail fiddling. He had seen enough of that to know the real reason behind hid. “Some women…” Krugor sighed.

“130? For that thing?

The skeleton stroked his chin with his fingers and made low, grunting sound while he was thinking about the situation at hand. He needed at least one dagger and the staff upgraded to a stronger material. But it would be nice to get out of this deal a bit better than he would now be.

“Alrighty little girly, I’ll give you 100 for the dagger.”

His lips slowly formed a mysterious smile.

“And…I’ll cook you dinner tonight! I’m an excellent cook, mind you.”

The undead continued his grinning and grabbed his rucksack, preparing to take out the necessary money. There was no way the girl could refuse this offer. His cooking had to be famous in this region by now, he thought to himself, anyone in his right mind would gladly grab this deal with both hands.

“I’ll give you 200 for the staff, though. That does sound fair.”

This was his day, the Gods of Trade were surely shining upon him.

"Uhhh... no. Are you kidding?"

The girl took a few steps back, getting used to the strange sight of a talking, haggling skeleton.

"You don't look like you eat, so yeah... Can't see how you'd be a cook. 130 for the dagger, you strange fellow and if you try and haggle with stuff as poor as that, I'll make sure my daddy makes you pay 150!"

Krugor felt sad.

Not because the girl threatened to call her daddy, he could handle that. No, it was because she didn’t believe he was a cook and made fun of his cookery. This was just too much, these tradesmen and women were to strong. There was no way he could keep up his strong appearance any longer, the girl had struck him in his very soul. Slowly he grabbed his money pouch and threw three hundred and thirty pieces of gold on the counter.

A tear dropped from his eye socket.

“Here’s your money, girl. You’re a tough one.”

"Alright, that's awesome!"

The girl jumped up and down, threw her pigtails behind her head and pumped her fists in the air.

"What a first sale!"
