View Full Version : Recommended Reading for Your Character

So I am trying hard to get invested in this site again and I am looking for a little help from the community. There was a time when I knew all the major players and a good chunk of what made their characters who they were, but now I am at a complete loss. So many people talk about their stuff they want to do, but I am struggling to find a starting point with many of you.

My question is this: What do you consider essential reading for your character? If you could pick one thread that best displays who your character is and what they are about I'd love to have a link to it to read on my downtime. If you guys are interested in bragging about your adventures, this is the thread where I want to see it.

Unfortunately I can't say I have a link of my own for Yari. Everything that made him who he was has been wiped with the several crashes over the years, but I'm hoping to change that.

So what do you say? Help a vet out?

They've All Forgotten You (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?22149-They-ve-All-Forgotten-You) is the first in a saga, presently awaiting judgment. And from what I've seen of your writing Yari is a pretty damn solid character.

The Longest Night (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?20972-The-Longest-Night-(Solo)) is the story of how Jensen became the way he is. With it, you get clarity as to why the immortal acted like such a jackass in his earlier years, and still does even now.

MetalDrago

Red Hand Pilgrimage: The Second Age of Darkness (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?10551-Red-Hand-Pilgrimage-The-Second-Age-of-Darkness.) should give a rather decent account of how MetalDrago went from wannabe hero to Paladin of N'Jal.

Hour of Destiny (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?21010-Hour-of-Destiny) was my first thread with Rehtul. He hasn't been fleshed out a whole lot, so this is probably the best I can do concerning him. Oh yeah, please disregard the random numbers in the middle of words like "facade", etc. The auto-correct from Microsoft Word didn't seem to register with the new vBulletin system.

Maera has yet to finish a thread, so that's about it.

I got a little carried away, but picking one thread is hard when you usually run continuance over many. Ideally, On Drinking Tea With Friends will cover Ruby and Lillith, and one or two of the better emotional ones from Duffy should suffice, but if you're feeling adventurous, dive in. I was very prolific (though not efficient) for months, so there's a lot to chose from!

I said one! :P

This was a good idea. With all my threads though (there have only been five completed quests... *cough*), I don't think any of them really sum up Talen. He changes too much, and my hate of reading something i've written too great, for me to say 'this is Talen'. I find that he tends to be 'bent' (for the lack of a better word) to the story.

I will however attempt to read some other peoples :)

Hys, I think Sound of Madness is a pretty good Talen summed up thread, as well as Master and Apprentice. Just saying.

As far as Sei stuff? I honestly don't know. If someone wants to throw me a bone and showcase one of my threads for me that woul be great. I'm not actually sure which one thread I can show to show off Sei....Anybody?

Elrundir

I got nothin for Elrundir... yet. The obvious one for Christina is the Price of Freedom series of quests. They're not finished yet ( ;__; ) but basically made her who she is today.

Atzar
02-13-11, 09:28 PM
Atzar may be a level 4 character, but he might as well be a level zero in terms of character development. I've revised his history, personality etc. so many times that I just haven't gotten him off the ground yet. All I really have on him in his current form is his profile, and even some of that will likely change if I ever level up again.

I guess that's kinda why I'm more comfortable playing the supporting role to somebody else's story.

Okay, now with links:

Price of Freedom Part I (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?3024-The-Price-of-Freedom...)
Price of Freedom Part II (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?3867-The-Price-of-Freedom-Part-II)
Price of Freedom Part III (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?6412-The-Price-of-Freedom-Part-III) (ongoing)

I know, I know, you asked for one, but it's basically one thread. Just broken into parts. And they're all equally critical.

I'm not exactly sure which would be a recommended reading for my character :/ ... feel free to clicky the completed ones in my siggy, but as for a recommended I have no idea.

But I can sum up what my character is all about in that she's a small child with issues in her head! :D.... -fin-

I don't know what to put, but I guess transitional periods count. The first one is from the army to crime.

The First Job (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?20000-The-First-Job) (incomplete)

These two are from crime to world conquest, including the founding of The Company.

Rise Of The Underground I (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?9108-Rise-of-the-Underground)
Rise Of The Underground II (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?10170-Rise-of-the-Underground-Part-2)

I do believe that is worthy of a Pulitzer.

I had to stop and think for awhile. I was considering not writing anything in here at all, and in the end I decided to go for it.

I noticed you kinda picked up some of my writing already but for this Account, Secrets (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?22529-Secrets). It's a work in progress but sums up Aislinn's life to that point. She has alot of issues I'm working out before she finally returns to normality. Hopefully that will give you an idea of who she is and just what she does...

Seth, Seth hasn't done much but if I had to pick one thread that describes Seth and where he's at now...Noontide (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?21959-Noontide). This thread kinda goes into Seth's head and explains a bit about what he is, and what he's become.

More to come as I find them...

I'm going to actually follow your directions and give you ONE thread... Well so far there's only one worth mentioning.
