Training Forum Rules

All standard rules of Althanas roleplaying apply, including restrictions on Powergaming and Bunnying. We describe powergaming as using powers/abilities a character does not actually have, and Bunnying as controlling someone else's character. If you wish to circumvent the bunnying, you and your partner must mutually agree and make an OOC note explaining at either the top of the post or thread in question.
All threads (including Dansdel battles (http://www.althanas.com/world/forumdisplay.php?291-Dansdel) and Challenges (http://www.althanas.com/world/forumdisplay.php?303-Challenges)) in the Training Forum are subject to IC moderation and OOC critique by moderators at any time. If you can't handle a little criticism, this may not be the place for you.
All threads (including Dansdel battles and Challenges) in the Training Forum will be judged as Writing Workshops in order to provide the maximum amount of feedback to help everyone improve. For details on the Workshop Judgment process click here. (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?22523-Writers-Workshop-Rules-and-Information)
If you have questions they may be posted in this thread. If you have concerns, please contact an RoG moderator by private message.

Training Forum Tips
For the purposes of Storyline instruction the TF is based in Underwood. Despite this, you can still get the benefits of the TF (such as special rewards and faster judgments) in other regions. Simply include a notice in the first post of your thread stating you wish to invoke Training Forum (and if applicable Dansdel) Rules, and staffers will treat it accordingly.
In order to receive any special TF spoils such as EXP and GP modifiers, a member must lay claim to said spoils with an ooc note at the conclusion of their thread. Further specifications on how to claim specific spoils are provided in the Ravenheart Academy and Dansdel Rules threads.
If you would like moderators and other experienced writers to critique your story, make a thread in the Writer's Workshop (http://althanas.com/world/forumdisplay.php?263-The-Writers-Workshop) with a link to the thread(s) you would like critiqued. Otherwise you will only receive commentary if a moderator decides to post in your story.
Don’t worry if people don’t join an open quest of yours right away. If you’d like, post a link to your thread in the Recruiting Forum (http://www.althanas.com/world/forumdisplay.php?170-The-Recruiting-Forum), and someone will be along soon enough. Be patient, and remember that if you require assistance you can get ideas or join Moderated Quests at the Ravenheart Academy.
Take your time. Put your posts through a spellchecker such as Microsoft Word. Once you’re finished writing it read it over (out loud is best), make any necessary changes and then post it. Following these simple steps can raise clarity and mechanics scores considerably, and will make your work more enjoyable to read.
After you complete a quest or battle, and have it judged, don’t feel discouraged if you get a low score. Just look at the judgement and use it to improve! Don’t feel afraid to ask the moderator to help you either, or explain anything he or she might have commented on. We are always happy to help, and we don’t bite!

The Ravenheart Academy (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?22581-Ravenheart-Academy) is Underwood's redesigned mission board, featuring three separate components. The first post includes storyline prompts for unlimited generic story ideas. It provides suggestions on how to start trade threads (mining, smithing) and provides a rough guide for potential rewards. The second post is a classic mission board, with unique jobs which players may claim for special prizes. The third post will include recruitment for all Training Forum Moderated Threads. These will be threads that either teach IC skills to characters, or OOC skills to players. If you'd like to make a suggestion for this board, there is a sticky in the Writers Workshop (http://althanas.com/world/forumdisplay.php?f=263) for that purpose.

Known for it's fearsome competition and fantastic rewards, The Dansdel (http://www.althanas.com/world/forumdisplay.php?291-Dansdel) is Althanas' first self-sustaining battle league. Be sure to understand the Dansdel Rules (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?22547-Dansdel-Rules) and Information (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?20757-Dansdel-Information) so you will know how to claim your rewards, and what resources you have to work with. Amongst said resources is the Challenges (http://www.althanas.com/world/forumdisplay.php?303-Challenges) subforum, special venues reserved for Dansdel warriors.

Any suggestions / questions about the Dansdel may be directed to the submissions / FAQ (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?22525-Training-Forum-Submissions-FAQ) thread in the Writer's Workshop.

Updated the Rules and added two important new tips, little things that I wanted to make sure everyone knows.

- For the purposes of Storyline instruction the Training Forum is based in Underwood. Despite this, you can still get the benefits of the TF (such as special rewards and faster judgments) in other regions. Simply include a notice in the first post of your thread stating you wish to invoke Training Forum Rules, and staffers will treat it accordingly. (Example: A battle takes place in the Citadel, in the Althanas Battles forum. The thread starter invokes TF and Dansdel Rules at the beginning with an ooc note. Upon conclusion the thread is judged in the Writers Workshop, receives Dansdel rewards, and is archived in the Citadel Battles archive.)

- In order to receive any special TF spoils such as EXP and GP modifiers, a member must lay claim to said spoils with an ooc note at the conclusion of their thread. Further specifications on how to claim specific spoils are provided in the Ravenheart Academy and Dansdel Rules threads. (Example: Josh beats Jake in a Dansdel battle, but Numbers Guy forgets to include his winning streak and a link to his last battle in an ooc note. Because of this the judge treats the thread as Josh's first battle, and Numbers Guy receives only a fraction of the bonus he would have.)
