Greetings all, just decided to register after a bit of stalking and reading. I've got some character and story ideas that I'm excited to develop, so this evening I'll likely be patching a profile together for Taelar.

A quick question, though, if anyone's capable of answering. What's the current state of Raiera and the elves? I'm interested in developing an elven character in the context of Althanas, instead of a Generic Fantasy Elf, and there are some conflicting reports about how much / little the land is a mess and whether Eluriand is still teeming with undead squatters.

I don't personally know, and I see that you already have a profile up to be looked over by a mod, so... I guess saying now is kinda moot... but, I guess keeping it loose enough that your character can fit anywhere would be a good plan? I dunno... I play a small child, so... what happens about the world outside of her small zone, she's more or less oblivious to.

From what I do remember though, is the Xem'mud or however you say, is dead? And to the best of my knowledge, there isn't shambling hoards about, but, with liquid time you can do a lot of stuff!

As far as I know...(and task is more than welcome to comment on this) The undead threat was finally ended. The Forces of Alerar however have moved into sections of Raiarae's borders and captured some major cities. The anti-technology aura that seems to permeate from Rairae is slowly collapsing with bubbles of tech safe havens. Alot of reconstruction is in the works right now as the nation picks itself back up after nearly getting wiped out.

Welcome to the site. Tackling Raiarae's lore is going to be a challenge with its current state (and I've never been an expert in it) but I wish you luck. It makes me really excited to see people striving to work with canon.

The updated Althanas timeline offers a glimpse into Raiaera's current state:

"Raiaera is struck with a great plague of undead, hordes of the tainted creatures roam the lands of the high elves and strike fear and panic at the hearts of the people. Cities fall as citizens flee, leaving the newly arisen Xem’Zund free to roam the land and warp the fallen corpses of his enemies into new fighting forces. Amongst those that rise to fight the horde, the relatively young Ingwe Helyanwe rises to assist in killing the multiple generals under the Forgotten one. Alongside him is Godhand, who eventually destroys Xem’Zund and dies in the process. The land of Raiaera is almost completely destroyed though, with the government in tatters and the bards and bladesingers almost all fleeing or dying in battle."

It's admittedly vague, but I think the general idea is that the two cities, Eluriand and Anebrilith, are now independent sovereign city-states within Raiaera and there is no unified government. High elf bards in each city use powerful magic to repulse the remaining hordes of the undead. The Red Forest, meanwhile, remains completely tainted. Expect some CM quests soon to flesh out the region. If you want to participate, please see Elrundir or Metaldrago (some badgering might help the CM quest come sooner too).

That's actually very helpful, thanks! I'm very interested in having Taelar participate, though I think he's first going to ply his trade in Underwood a bit so I can get used to writing and posting here, and he can get used to Glowy Blade Of Death from Mysterious Benefactor.
