Numbers guy here on one of my best-known alts...

I recently brought Jake here back as an NPC in mine and Caitie's thread Baby This Night, mostly because I wasn't quite sure how I wanted to bring Jake back. I've gotten a feel for "Jake 3.0" now, and he's mostly left the horsethief schtick behind in favour of hunting demons and monsters.

The thing is, I want to give him at least one last hurrah as a Coronian horsethief before he becomes a continent-skipping war machine, and while jogging in the rain I thought of the perfect way to do it!

Basically this will be something akin to the idea of the film "Gone in 60 Seconds", only set in Radasanth, and stealing horses. Jake will have accepted a massive contract from someone (haven't quite decided who yet) to steal 60 horses by a certain date. Not just any horses, but the steeds of high-ranking officers in the CAF as well as upper and lower nobility throughout the city. In keeping with the allegory, Jake will end up in over his head early, and his "older brother" (in this case his teacher, Joshua Cronen) will have to show up and bail him out by executing a massive one-night operation. I'm looking for 1-3 other writers to help me really bring this story to life and flesh out the feel of wartime Radasanth with martial law declared. This will be included as part of the Corone War with Jake supporting the Rangers faction.

Depending on who is interested and in what way, this could end up being a vs type quest with the "winner"(s) getting points for the war (but everyone getting quest exp) or if we're mostly on the same side it can just be a good old quest.

If you've seen the movie and there's a particular archetype you think your character could fill, hit me up. If you have a different idea, let me know as well. I'm not looking to actually write an allegory of the film, I'm just blatantly copying the premise :P

I'm interested in various aspects of this. Like, being the contractor who needs the horses for example.

edit: The International had a thread called Stealing Thunder that was about stealing horses from Fallien. If he's done with that concept I'm sure there's some ideas in there that can be used for plot twists.

I've seen the movie, but it's been a while. If you're looking for opposition, Wynken could easily play either side or both at once depending on what you'd like to accomplish. Let me know where you see me fitting in.

Just wanna say, The Sphinx is the coolest part of that movie. The fact that he never has to really do much pleases me to no end.

Alright so I'm just brainstormin here, not dead set on any of these ideas specifically yet, but hopefully this will give y'all and idea of what I'm envisioning. I am pretty set on the people I've chosen for it, but if any of you had different roles in mind or anything to throw down all input is welcome! Here goes...

Jake and his friends (I have a couple NPCs I use sometimes with him) are in over their heads with the sheer number of horses they're trying to steal, and the presence of the CAF in Radasanth. This leads to a scene where Rayse writes as NPCs (his employees) trying to bring Jake in for a talk about his deadline (presumably he won't be pulling in the horseflesh fast enough). Jake is a slippery bastard though, and he'll most likely get away. Enter Josh (who I'll probably write as an NPC under Jake) who confronts Rayse at his current place of business.

Rayse if you dig it I'm thinking of a big dirty casino, dice and cards and an indoor racetrack which, I'm guessing, also deals in black market steeds. I'm guessing Rayse wouldn't respond well, and Josh would retreat for some silly noble reason, resolved to help Jake fulfil the quota (I'm thinking maybe has like 40 high-security steals left to make in three days).

At this point Josh would bring his crew from Underwood, which consists of several of my alts and potentially Rose Vasstion (Caitiegirl) with Jake and his friends, and quickly hires a few local helpers. These would be Wynken and The International (I think he expressed interest in this), and the bulk of the thread would be between Rayse, Wynken, International, and Jake (account wise).

Amen if you're interested in reading along we could undoubtedly bring you in for some cameos or NPC work, though I don't want to add another main character to this.

If ya'll are down I could see a subplot between Rayse and some NPCs (potentially coppers) bubbling beneath the "stealing a crapload of horses really fast" segment, which would bring the two storylines together for some big clash/turning point where hopefully we destroy the casino, and then individual denouement, since I doubt any of our characters will be chillin after this.

Again, throw out any thoughts you've been brewing, or that occurred to you as you read this.

I wasn't speaking for The International, but if I may make a suggestion: Have them be horses of Fallien stock. That way it makes sense if only these rich/high-class people have them. I like all your suggestions, and Rayse's involvement after the beginning isn't really explicitly required if we can't think of that subplot.

My only question is why Rayse needs the horses. I can think of any number of reasons, but it comes down to; does he want them for himself/his organization, or for someone else. If it's the former, he's acting on behalf of The Salvaran Mafia, but if it's the latter he can be on behalf of The Company. Maybe one of your Coronian factions needs the horses for a time-sensitive operation and Rayse, being a Fallien horse importer, was their go-to guy for this type of deal, but the numbers they wanted were way out of Rayse's league (maybe Rayse gets 1-2 horses from Fallien every couple weeks or something), so he turned to subcontracting it out to Jake, who is the best horse thief in Corone and assured Rayse that this would be done in time. Then comes what you said.

I'm just brainstorming as well, I'm not married to any of this.

I will most certainly be following this and a cameo would amuse me. We'll see what crops up.

Rayse, I like everything you're bringin... although I don't think I want to specify all the horses must be Fallien. Certainly most of them will be, but I want to keep our options open for creativity (might even include a few dire wolves or other alternative mounts on the list). Either of your ideas for the buyer sounds good, I've got some stuff I'll PM you cuz it'd be too spoilers to post em here...

Amen, good to have you aboard.
