Good writing should provide all the description and imagery your imagination needs to bring a scene to life.
Buuuuuut...
I like maps. So when I write about a dungeon or a building that is important to one of my quests, I like to map it out.
This one is for a soloquest I'm Starting. It involves a monastery which serves as a great library in the Comb Mountains in Corone.
Please forgive the lackluster shading and detail but its really just a guideline for my writing. I usually take a good full day to do one of these, but I rushed this one because it was taking more time than actually writing the quest itself. Also, when I converted it from the high resolution version, a lot of the detail went to pot. Ahhh well.

The southern wall hosts double doors with a slippery splash of blood pool. The main floor is a refectory complete with a single harry potter style long table and strewn about chairs.
columns support the second floor due to the lack of walls in the main area. to the west is a modest kitchen capable of preparing food for up to twenty hungry scholars, and to the east is a locked room where sensative reading material is stored.
northwest is a large fireplace used for heating, northeast, a reading area, annnnd, thats pretty much it for floor one. for better description, just check out my quest!
