That would be Toronto.

My current town was immortalized in a relatively recent webcomic as the place that the entire story takes place.

I can tell you this, though; walking through that intersection at that time of day and your going to get ran the hell over.

This is Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

http://www.gradstudies.ualberta.ca/images/edmonton-skyline.jpg

Somewhere in the trees there is the river valley, which is beautiful. Swimming is a bad idea, though, unless you have the immune system of one of the survivors in The Stand.

The pink building is Canada Place, where most of the government services are handled. Passports, immigration, etc. It's actually very smart. If someone new to the country and unfamiliar with the city needs to deal with the necessary paperwork, just tell them to go to the big pink building near the river.

The glass pyramids are the Muttart Conservatory, a green house with four separate climates and every type of plant they can fit into the place. It serves as a counterweight to what Edmonton looks like from mid October to mid April (if we're lucky), which is this.

We like to remind ourselves that plants exist.

Ah, let us speak of the city of my birth: Flint, Michigan. (http://images.forbes.com/media/2009/06/09/recovery_flint_michigan.jpg)

It's a picturesque (http://www.hillhaus.com/photos/2005.12.30.Michigan/Flint.jpg) little city in the southeast of this great state, well known for its auto production. (http://blog.mlive.com/newsnow_impact/2008/06/large_shootingsd.JPG)

What? Oh, ignore all that. Look, okay, so we haven't really produced cars in awhile, but that's only served to improve the city's natural (http://www.flowersplane.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/Flint-Michigan-1.jpg) beauty. (http://media.mlive.com/newsnow_impact/photo/snow5jpg-9999f9b5037e7ab5.jpg) Alright, hang on, this is getting away from me a bit.

All I'm trying to say is, Flint has history, see? It's all around us. You can see (http://files.archinect.com/uploads/ai/aiu_flt04.jpg) it (http://files.archinect.com/uploads/ai/aiu_flt03.jpg) in the houses (http://files.archinect.com/uploads/ai/aiu_det04.jpg) and...okay (http://l.yimg.com/ck/image/A8567/85673/470_85673.jpg), let's just...give me a second.

Okay. You can say what you want about the places (http://www.flickr.com/photos/pantsycline/378471785/), but the people (http://www.babble.com/CS/blogs/strollerderby/2008/06/23-End/flint.jpg)are...what I mean (http://blog.mlive.com/flintjournal/newsnow/2008/03/large_3162008FLINTSFIRST.jpg) to say is...

Alright alright alright. Let's just start over. Flint has seen some better days, sure, but there's progress, right? I mean, just look at the...wait, seriously? (http://heckeranddecker.files.wordpress.com/2010/04/flint-demo.jpg)

Okay, but we've got a growing industry in the movies (http://s3-ak.buzzfed.com/static/imagebuzz/web04/2010/7/3/0/lebron-james-headed-to-flint-michigan-tropics-22705-1278131994-11.jpg) and...fuck. (http://v3.cache6.c.bigcache.googleapis.com/static.panoramio.com/photos/original/3512034.jpg?ir=1&redirect_counter=2)

...so, that's Flint. (http://kimoracochran.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/flint2-1.jpg)

OOOOOH I like! Okay, here's a picture of where I live, Charlotte NC. Biggest City in the Carolinas (fuck you, Raleigh), and the country's largest financial hub outside of New York, making us ALMOST recession prof. Home to the Charlotte Bobcats (who suck), the Carolina Panthers (who swallow), and the NASCAR Hall of Fame (do NOT get me started). Yea I give this city a lot of flack but it's a really awesome town. I've been around the world and this is a pretty decent place to settle down. Lot's of trees, lots of pretty buildings, LOTS of pretty women, 90% of the population is from somewhere else so it's like the world is coming to you. It took me forever to find a good panoramic view of Uptown Charlotte, but here's one.

My favorite building is the Duke Energy building. I live in Uptown and can see this thing from my window. Those LED lights you see here change colors every ten to fifteen minutes. I happen to believe it's a beacon for a race of aliens secretly watching us from space. You're probably thinking that power bill costs a shit load, but Duke is the region's energy monopoly, therefore when I get my power bill I'm paying for it. There's a restaurant/lounge on the thirtieth floor of this building. I go there occasionally.

Charlotte is bigger than I remember. I think being a Virginian makes it impossible for me to accept that anything important happens in North Carolina.

When was the last time you were there? It's grown exponentially in the last ten years or so. Six of those buildings weren't in the skyline, and the Duke Energy tower was just finished earlier this year.

Portland, Oregon is legitimately my favorite city. I live in a slightly skeezy suburby town around it, but go to school and do fun crap in the thriving Pearl District. It's pretty, modern, ancient, and boss as shit.

Old buildings, new buildings, parks and art and food and shitloads of rain. Plus, ten minute's drive gets you to the middle of the goddamn forest.

Also augh big pictures.

Oh, don't cop out and show Richmond. Let them experience the true dumpiness of Mechanicsville, one of Richmond's armpits.

International, it probably has been around ten years, so that would explain it.

The most exciting thing I've seen here in Mechanicsville is the spooky Rural Point Rd church/art/thing.

Right now I live in a little touristy town on the coast of southern Maine called Kennebunk, you may have heard about how awesome our Zumba is. We also have lobster and stuff.

For a few years, up until a couple months ago, I lived in Salem, Massachusetts with the witches. Even the police cars have witches on them. It's kind of silly.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7063/7054826747_5c8c2fe9da_z.jpg

And even though I'm back in Maine for a bit, I still commute down to Boston/Cambridge, MA for work.

If you have the new Assassin's Creed you can run around on these buildings. It's pretty much the same, except more homeless people/hipsters.
