View Full Version : Why the sudden quotation mark hate?
Althanas has a sudden problem with foreign quotation marks.
If typed in the site's reply box: "Test"
If pasted from an outside source: “Test”
I believe some other punctuation is affected as well. I assume it depends on the program it's pasted from. This seems to affect most of the posts I've looked at, so here's hoping there's a quick fix.
Also, probably the most important question, is everyone else seeing this?

I saw you write the same thing twice. :P
The sample group has concluded that things are messed up on my end. =)
For information's sake, the first quotation is a square and the closing one is a circle. Computer speak for OMGWTF! I don't know what to do!
Anyone had this happen to them before?
Nah. I haven't had anything automatically correct itself for me, but I've found the program in the dialogue box to be really irritating when I'm trying to edit something. At the edge of the window it'll mirror/repeat what was said at the end of the line above. Its confusing and a bit disorienting.

I'm seeing a difference. It might have to do with browsers, OS, Althanas skins, or particular settings on the browser. Either way, Althanas has catalogued quotations differently according to the source, and source quote style. Personally, I prefer the style that slants them according to which end of the phrase it's on, anyway, so this bothers me not at all.

I just see two different styles of quotation marks. The first one is perfectly vertical, the second are slanted slightly inward toward the text.
Fixed!
I just had to restart the browser (Google chrome). Apparently, it switched over to a slightly different character set. Must have been for another site that needed it. Oh well, all better now.
Live and learn. And kids, don't make a thread for your minor computer problems unless you've tried restarting your browser first. It makes you look kind of silly.
The input helped me figure out why it was doing it, though. So, thanks all.
