Hey guys,
I've got this thread going on right now. I marked it as open, but nobody's joined in. OK, fine - I've been told that people don't always respond immediately to open threads. Thing is, though, it's getting to the point where the events of the plot are really starting to hot up and it would be hard for anybody to join in. So I've decided that, if nobody wants to join in in the next couple of posts, I'll probably make it a solo after my next post. So what I'll do is, I'll leave this up for a couple of days, and see if anybody'd like to join in. If nobody does, the quest goes solo.
If you want to help a newb out, my thread's here:

If you give us a bigger and better idea about where you see it going and what the plan is, might see if any of my gazillion characters would be suitable to leap in to the fold :).

Duffy, you need to be more versatile. :P
I'll read it and try to come up with a reply :D

Douple post!
Actually, Duffy is right. At the moment, I don't have any way into incorporating Sei in the story without it seeming forced.

Alrighty then. Basically (whited out to avoid spoilers, highlight to view):
The elf "statue" in the cave is Fabilien. He was from a tribe of elves that lived in Raiaera, long ago. Every 10 years, a powerful sorcerer from the tribe would be selected as a Memory-Bearer - they were sent into a catatonic state and buried with a magical gem. If their tombs were found by future generations and the gem had magic run through it by a powerful enough magic-user, they would awaken and their knowledge could be revealed. The whole point of this was so that knowledge of the past might live on even if the tribe was wiped out. Fabilien was selected to be a Memory-Bearer, as one of the great sorcerer Karilith's most powerful apprentices, but found out something worrying - Karilith had in fact been a servant of the Forgotten Ones during their height, and was planning to annihilate the tribe. So when Fabilien found out about this, he tried to kill Karilith, but Karilith overpowered him, and had him forcibly turned into a Memory-Bearer, but with a change. His gem had his very soul trapped inside it, so if woken up, he would be little more than a shell. His tomb was also placed on the island of Scara Brae, which at that time was uninhabited. If anybody who found the tomb tried to awaken Fabilien, they would be cursed, and eventually wander back up to the mountain and turn into a statue, with their soul trapped inside the statue - they could, however, awaken if the gem was taken away. After this curse, Karilith had to run away, and sent himself to sleep. He could only awaken if Fabilien did, and if that happened, he had some insurance - a spell to summon a powerful demon, to kill both Fabilien and whoever awakened him, thus destroying all knowledge of how to stop Karilith, and his ultimate plan of gaining extraordinary power.
The burned man (whose name is Bylos) was the most recent one who tried to awaken Fabilien, but was cursed with the burns and cuts, and he became a statue a few days before Ran arrived at the tomb. Anyway, after Ran left, Bylos awakened along with Fabilien, and felt a desire to find out what was up with the gem. So he decided to follow Ran, taking Fabilien with him in case he had some of the answers. During his conversation with Ran, Bylos read his mind and found out that Ran plans to sell the gem. So now Bylos is heading to the thieves' enclave with Fabilien to destroy it, and prevent Ran from selling it. What none of them know is that Karilith is back (Bylos talking about "the world ending" is just an attempt to scare Ran). The only knowledge of how to stop the demon (which he is working on the summoning for - it takes a while) is held within Fabilien's gem, so unlocking it and returning his soul is crucial...
Yeah, I know it's complicated, but I have quite a fondness for villains who come up with huge complicated schemes. Sound good to you?
So it's basically a merc job as far as our characters are concerned?

Essentially, yeah, but things don't always turn out how you expect...
If I get a character into the thread there can be lesbian chickens for all I care, it's just that first hurdle that's the problem :).
