This thread is dedicated to one thought. What ever happened to some of the things that got rolling and just smashed into the ground.

For example, what happened to the disciples of N'jal?
I know a lot of us were in that, myself included. But where the hell did they all go?

Also, are the Ixian knights still rolling? I haven't seen anything by them in a loooooong time.

Where do all of our new role players keep going? I've seen like fifty billion, and yet like three are still around.

What happened to our automated bazaar feature?

Have we got any advertising out there? Maybe get like a banner we can put in other forum signatures? I bet that could draw some new people in.

Isn't it obvious? The site's dead.

Althanas is currently undergoing a period of downtime, low activity and hibernation. This is typical of the rolling in of winter - I remember last year pretty much being the only guy around for a month, lonely, lonely times :(.

Stick with us Jack, it'll soon be spring :)

I've mentioned the prospect of advertising before. It seemed to go over poorly for reasons I cannot even begin to fathom. Though admittedly, there isn't terribly much to advertise at this stage. We need to jazz some shit up.

Or people need to write more.

Funny that :p

If you make Monty Python references, they will come.

For myself, personally, just a lot if issues in real life at the moment. November to January is also busy time at my work, so.... combining the two... my activity is slower than it already is... ^ ^; I'm a slow person in general so... yeah.

No time. Not really an interest so far. I've had some ideas with Liam, but overall I don't really have a strong interest on following any of it up right now.

I guess it's all of my youthful energy that has me chomping at the bit, I think I might be the youngest active member of this site.

Now that you mention it, we did do the same thing last winter too...

As for advertising, we could possibly make a blog, get lots of our friends IRL to talk about it, spread it, get it out to others. We could possibly reach out to some online "celebrities" who might be into writing, draw some of their fans in...

Roleplaying PbP has a limited venue and audience to cater to. Advertising certainly wouldn't hurt, but I think the days of this being big and booming as a type of game are pretty much over unless you promise your firstborn to one of those roleplaying conglomorates like AllRPG or something. The really, really "I can't believe there are a 1,000 people on right now but 90% of them can't write worth shit" type ones.

I check in every couple of days to see if a particular IC thread has progressed, and occasionally to stick my nose into an OOC discussion (like this one). Other than that, I'm not active at the moment - more interested in other things right now.

On the topic of advertising/recruiting, I've pushed for this at various times in the past. In practice, it normally just amounts to digging up some fossilized "Vote for this site!" link and having people click on it once a day until they forget or lose interest. It's never really shown results, and we've never been committed or coordinated enough to make a stronger push.

Aside from that, there has always been an attitude of "Well, the site is going through a transition right now, so we should probably get everything running smoothly before we try to get the word out." And that's a reasonable stance, until you stop to notice that we never come close to this "everything running smoothly" utopia, so therefore we never move forward on recruiting.

I'll leave it at that. It is what it is at this point.
