I'm looking to create an alternate account and wanting to gather some opinions and ideas before i go about this.
The basic premise of this character is he USED to be human. He basically had his heart torn to pieces by the love of his life and she laughed at what she had done. She was the daughter of a rich and extensive family. In exchange for his body and soul which he has sold to demons (yes many demons) they are to help him destroy this family and eventually the woman who tore out his heart (i want to do this literally by it being a part of the pact with the demons that they remove his heart and seal it away). Where i pick up his story is the day after he has sold himself to these demons. In life he was a simple guardsman.
My questions for everyone are:
What sort of powers do you see him having magic wise now that he is possessed by so many demons?
What sort of abilities might you expect to see in him?
Would his knowledge base include that of the demons inside of him? if so what sorts of knowledge would they bring?
And any additional thoughts about this you might have.
I'm basically playing this as myself if i were to step into the world of Althanas myself.

I'd expect him to have magic related to fire, ability to summon lesser demons, and to be able to see/manipulate peoples emotions to an extent. Also a built-in detect magic spell.
Demons are typically known for longevity and oversight of the natural world even when banished to their realm, so they'd have a vast knowledge of ancient artifacts, especially of magical and powerful origin. It would also likely grant him the ability to speak in demonic and communicate with such creatures.
It's depressing that you see this character as yourself and it worries me that you want to take revenge in such a horrific manner on the woman who broke your heart.
You could write some interesting stories as running errands for independent demons that possess you or that are connected to the ones that do, in such a way that you could have a variety of "missions" that your character faces that stem from the demonic background you come from. The problem is, this leaves out much of the personal and emotional development of a character and seems to leave him more like a shell of a human who is now a slave to the demons. It could get confusing.

Well in my particular case the woman kind of deserves some sort of punishment though i myself wouldn't be the one to carry it out. Not something i like to go into detail about. But this character is my way of expressing my anger of the situation. I like your ideas of the demons forcing my character to carry out mini quests for them.

As far as magic goes, I would play the brokenhearted, vengeful lover angle. Base all your abilities around that.
Mache their hearts literally ache, a curse that makes them love inanimate objects, when you start getting into the higher levels, give their hearts crippling pain. Make them lust instead of love. Force lovers to become conjoined. Etc etc With a character dynamic like yours, I would milk it for all its worth in gimmicks.
Keep the pact exclusive to one demon. It forms a deeper connection with the reader, letting them focus their attention on different factions of antagonists. This allows you to be able to move pieces and play with more angles knowing that you can use misdirection with a manifested character that has its own motives and agenda for the story. It also lets you paint a more vivid picture of the forces your character is dealing with. Plus, for a story like that, it wouldn't hurt to manifest the demon, give him a personality of sorts, etc.
That's what I'd do.

I would play up the fact that he's got a whole host of demons rolling around inside him. Ability to speak and understand multiple languages, projection of constant stream of babbling voices to cause fear and insanity in others, thinking biblically of Legion perhaps the ability to possess lesser bodies, like animals, temporarily. In general, I think playing up the mind games would fit nicely.

I agree with Vigil in that multiple demons would be hard to pull off convincingly. You may be working together with the demons, but are they working together with each other? If so, why? I can't imagine them getting much attention when they're getting marginalized like this. You'll end up focusing on one at a time and snubbing the others, or all at once and making the distinctions between them meaningless. You should look at Wraithwood (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?23726-Wraithwood-Zero). To her the demons are subservient and tools, but more importantly she can only deal with them one at a time. That allows her to really flesh out the details and for them to have a purpose.
So I would say go with only one, or find some way to restrict them so they're not around all the time.

Thank you all for your ideas. This is what I've come with from all the ideas I've take into consideration. I would like to continue to take your input. I feel like he needs quite a bit more refinement but this is just his start.
