'Are you sure?' Artemis asked, sending the message to the sentient spirit of his bow, Judicis. 'I mean, rumors are just rumors.'
'Yes, Artemis, I understand. But trust that even if this rumor isn't true, it is still worth pursuing.'
"If you say so," the young man mumbled aloud.
They had heard a priest from the Black Desert of Raiaera had been spotted shopping around the bazaar. Given that Judicis' sentient magic stemmed from Khal'jaren the Sage, and that they suspected this particular priest was a disciple of this thayne, they felt the need to investigate. The hope was that they would be able to draw forth a vision of the Thayne into the sentient world of Judicis and communicate with him, perhaps drawing further strength into the weapon.
They had spent the better part of the afternoon in the open expanse of the marketplace. Judicis had shown Artemis, within his sentient realm, what to expect of the priestly garb. If he were truly from the temple of Khal'jaren, then the uniform would not have changed over the many millenia. At the very least, the color scheme and emblems would be consistent, though potentially a bit more intricate.
Eventually, the priest, or rather priestess, showed herself - a human woman who appeared to be in the latter half of her life, but still very beautiful. She carried herself with an air of confidence, clearly not intimidated by the many men who gawked at her with their distasteful desires. With each step, her robes fluttered behind her, the rich blue and flawless white standing out among a crowd of dull grays and browns. Her strides were smooth, and as she carried herself across the bazaar and closer to Artemis, she stopped.
She dropped her hood and let her brown hair, with grays and silvers streaking through, fall across her shoulders. Her eyes turned to face Artemis, followed by her hips as she made her way toward the young man. Artemis tilted his head in confusion as she approached, wondering what would bring her to him.
"Are you the one who wields Judicis?" she asked, nodding to the bow slung across Artemis' shoulders.
"Um, yes," he said with a raised eyebrow.
"Please come with me."
With the slight urging of Judicis within his mind, Artemis agreed, and followed the priestess.

The pair had arrived in a small room of an inn located within the noble district, where an altar and some relics had been set upon a small table. The table had a rich silk cloth of blue and white embroidered with an image of a panopticon that hung facing the front. Set barely a meter away from the table was a small pillow.
"Please, kneel. The Sage would like to speak with you."
"With me? Why?" Artemis asked.
"Because you are one of his warriors and wield one of his most powerful relics. He seeks to commune with you."
"Wait, what? A thayne wants to speak with me because of my bow?"
"Please, kneel. The Sage will answer your questions."
With only slight hesitation, Artemis did as he was told.
"Close your eyes. I will begin the ritual."

In just minutes, though it seemed much longer when speaking with Khal'jaren the Sage, Artemis opened his eyes to see the last of a sprig of incense fall off into a small dish it was set upon.
Judicis, my sentient bow, will now be of Ulder quality, up from yew. I'm taking advantage of a 20% discount offered by EI on my level 5 profile (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?24197-Artemis-Eburi-Level-5&p=196213&viewfull=1#post196213).
EDIT: All my gold just got eaten. I guess this is on hold...
