This is a 3.0 Re-write. The only things I changed was in Skills and Abilities and have highlighted those sections in red for conveniences sake. :)


Name: Esmerelda “Scarlet” O’Hara
Age: 23

Weight: 130 lbs

Appearance: Esmerelda is typically clad in a white dress with a long back and short front (to allow easier leg movement) and white, skin-tight, cloth leggings. On her feet she wears knee-high black boots with a 1 inch heel. Around her waist she wears a wide black sword belt. Her long brilliant red hair is worn loose, only occasionally tied back. She wears a white bandana atop her head, though this is usually covered by large, black hat with a white, plumed feather sticking off of one side. Her green eyes are framed by long dark lashes. Her eyebrows are slightly arched and she wears no make-up, preferring to show off her natural beauty.

Personality: She thinks of herself as a free spirit. However, on the see she has little tolerance for fools and runs her ship in a very business-like manner. Drunkenness is not permitted at sea. In port she doesn’t care what her crew does as long as they make it back to the ship in time to cast off. She has a short, fiery temper.

Weapons:
4 foot steel, double-edged blade sword. Simple in design with plain, black leather bound hilt
2 steel daggers, each about 5” long, one tucked into the outside of each boot


Armor: none, though she’s saving up to fix that

Skills:
Above average with hand-held bladed weapons (knives & swords) of most lengths and designs. Polearms or things on lengths of chain or leather are not her forte in the slightest.
Acrobatics: very flexible, she can move around the rigging on a ship like a circus trapeze artist. This also comes in handy in battle as it allows her to move in ways not typically expected.

Abilities:
Navigator – Scarlet never gets lost as long as she can see the night sky. This is not limited to the sea, for even on land the guiding stars are still in the same place in the sky. With the stars and a decent map, she can find the most efficient path to anywhere in the world.
Eagle-eyes – Scarlet’s eyes are well attuned to seeing things at a far distance (very helpful for evading authorities *coughcough* *shifty eyes*) and bright sunlight glaring off of reflective surfaces do not bother her as much as a normal person. Her eyes are 1.5x better than a normal person.
Reputation – Scarlet has worked hard to maintain a reputation as pirate that doesn’t destroy everything and everyone in her path. Most merchants, given the choice between letting her have what she wants and life, choose life. Her reputation allows for different chances of surrender/attack as follows
When she is attacking a merchant – 75/25 75% chance the merchant crew will surrender and 25% chance that they will fight back.
When she is crossing paths with another pirate – 50/50 chance of surrender or being attacked
When she is crossing paths with a naval authority – 75/25 75% chance that she will be attacked, 25% chance that she will be permitted to escape

History: Born to a seafaring man, Esme spent her early childhood roaming various ports and docks. Her mother died when she was scarcely a year old and thus was raised by her father and his crew. When she was about 12 years old, her father started teaching her navigation and other things about a ship’s daily operation. He also started teaching her how to fight and to otherwise pull her own weight on his ship.

Of course, not all the men on the ship thought that she should be there in the first place. They were certainly not happy about the girl getting lessons in how to operate the ship, fearful that she was getting such lessons because the captain was going to pass command over to her. However, they didn’t need to worry about that. When the lass was about 16 years old, they were attacked by pirates. Most of those who were not killed in the quick battle were executed at the end of it. Only four of her father’s crew lived to join the pirate’s galley crew, among them the only crewman to truly not have a problem with her presence, First Mate Nelson.

Captain James Gruen had personally ended the life of Esme’s father before her very eyes and would have killed her next. He was never able to explain why he did not kill the girl when he had the chance. Instead, he took her aboard his ship and made her his personal slave. None of his crew dared to oppose him on the matter of having a woman aboard, each figuring that the fates would take care of such folly.

Over the course of the next four years, Esme learned well the life of a pirate and found that she rather liked it. However, she could not stand to be a slave. Though he never touched her or let any of his men touch her, she still felt the lustful looks cast upon her by the crewmen. Now 20 years old, Esme laid her plans carefully and plotted and carried out her own revenge against the pirate captain.

Now in control of the ship, she found that her father’s first mate had managed to survive the last 4 years as a galley slave and quickly set him up as her first mate. Over the last 3 years, she did fairly well for herself.as much as the ten did not like having a woman captain, the fact that she somehow bested Green kept them in line When that seemed likely to fail Nelson took care of matters.

But Mother Nature is fickle and does not grant peaceful seas all the time. Just weeks ago a major storm sunk her ship and scattered her crew except for Nelson who remains at her side.

Acrobatics should technically be an ability, but given the fact that Navigator and Reputation are more skills than abilities, there's no real need for any fixing.
