View Full Version : Making a Return! Part 1!

Steppenwolf Orlouge
05-06-12, 12:01 AM
Name: Steppenwolf Archiemendes Orlouge / Breaker
Age: 30
Height: 7’0’’/ 5’10
Weight: 250 lbs / 150 lbs
Hair Colors/Style – Pink Afro / Blue shoulder length hair
Eye Color – Crystalline Blue / Sea Green
Race: Mystic
Profession: Inventor / Super Hero

Appearance: Steppenwolf Orlouge is a 7 foot tall Mystic, a fact that, when paired with his absurd large pink afro, makes him tower over most normal people. All of his limbs are huge as a result of various training regiments, as well as being the youngest brother of the Orlouge clan for over five years. His skin is n olive-like tone, though it has been known to become ghost white due to days at a time spent in his laboratory. His smile brings with it perfect, pearly white teeth, his canines slightly sharper than a normal persons, the only trace of his Orc heritage besides his size. He is often seen wearing cargo pants with multiple pockets, and button-up Fallien style shirts underneath a white wife beater, or just a plain white t-shirt. He also has a pair of black combat boots, steel toed, in case he stumps his feet on rocks hidden in the snow.

Breaker is an average sized, average weight man; save for the white mask that simply covers his eyes and nothing more. His blue hair always looks as if it has been soaked with water recently, and he quite often has to move his bangs from his eyes. His frame is short, but his punches pack one hell of a punch. He occasionally wears a red cape draped over his shoulders when he does not expect trouble. Otherwise, he tends to stick to tight, black muscle shirts and khaki pants. He wears a pair of red designer shoes, each of the double knots in his laces meticulously tied to perfection. His teeth are also white, but each tooth is as flat as the next. There is a slight scar over the bridge of his nose that his mask covers perfectly.

Weapons: Steppenwolf possesses an arsenal of weaponry. A mythril shield colored pink, orange, blue and white, each of the three tips spotted with a hint of green. This shield can be thrown, though it does not posses a very good ‘rebound rate’ as it were. He also has a pair of nunchaku, titanium rods masked behind yew wood. Finally, he wields with most proficiency, his dual tonfa, yew wood hinting at cracks all around it’s frame, the length of the weapon the same as his large arms. Each tip is reinforced with steel to deliver a surprise blow to people.

Breaker posses fists, and his own special power to combat crime (but more on that later)

Armor: None to speak of, on either account. Though Breaker does have a sort of armor thanks to his super power (again, more on that later)

History:

Steppenwolf Orlouge has devoted his entire life to science. While he was not renowned for more famous inventions like airships or fire arms, the gentle giant spent weeks, months, and years even using his science-oriented intellect to investigate things such as disease, the inner workings of golems, and the logistical ramifications on magic, amongst other things.

Growing up the second youngest Orlouge, Steppenwolf got a lot of gaff from his brothers. This playful nature of theirs rubbed off on the child, who soon became a towering mass of power hulking above the rest of his kin. Most wondered why the pink hair inventor possessed such remarkable height, though Steppenwolf himself never questioned it. Like a good Mystic, he took the trials that were required of his people, and passed the Light Trials with flying colors.

Overall, Steppenwolf had a good life, which was until the accident happened.

Steppenwolf and his best friend, Terry Rouge, were researching some volatile chemicals one day, when the latter accidentally knocked over a beaker and caused a massive explosion. The house was destroyed, and Steppenwolf barely made it out, but Terry was not so lucky. Not wanting his best friend to look like a clumsy oaf who deserved what he got, Steppenwolf took the blame for the explosion, and as a subsequent result, was banned from the Mystic Villages. He was only 16.

He spent years in isolation, building a hut through blood sweat and tears in the middle of Salvar, where practically nobody could bother him. He would occasionally get visits from his family; hear the tales of how his baby brother was making a name for himself, or how his older brother had another over-ambitious scheme. But he never desired to return, he could not risk revealing the truth to the people he cared about the most.

One day while going through some of the things he had packed, Steppenwolf had come across a letter that looked as if it had been written in blood. The letter detailed a female Mystic who was raped while her husband was away, and that the true father of the child wished to see his son. Steppenwolf’s curiosity as a scientist was piqued, and so he set out on a quest to find the various orc villages of Althanas. His journey ended when he found an orc scientist by the name of Grimble. The orc explained to the Mystic that it was not only Armonia Orlouge, Steppenwolf’s mother that had been the rape victim, but that Steppenwolf himself was the result of their forced-upon mating.

This drove the half-Mystic into a rage, destroying Grimble’s laboratory and causing an explosion that almost perfectly mimicked what had happened to Terry. That was when Steppenwolf had an epiphany. Terry had been nowhere near the beakers when they dropped, and the chemical exposure to oxygen happened so fast that just being anywhere around the compounds incinerated those unfortunate enough to be close to it almost instantly. Terry’s death had not been an accident. Grimble had somehow set it up, knowing that Steppenwolf’s good nature would win out and see the Mystic banned from his home.

As a result, Steppenwolf spent months trying to find the infamous ‘Zephyr Song’, a song so powerful that only a bard of great skill could sing it. The song was said to separate anything, so Steppenwolf had sought the spell out in order to separate his orc blood from his Mystic blood. With the help of the High Elf Findelfin, Steppenwolf found the song, but decided to keep his orc lineage. After all, nothing could remind the Mystic more so of his distaste for the creatures than constantly being reminded he was one of them.

A few months after gaining the Zephyr Song, Steppenwolf used it casually just to see what it did. You know, for scientific purposes. This actually separated a part of his home from the ground, revealing a large underground hot spring. Steppenwolf explored the spring, thinking that a story like this would only appear in one of his comic books, and thus he might be granted his own super powers from the springs. This proved not true, and the various monstrosities that still resided in the cavern, as well as the heat from the spring, caused the Mystic to lose consciousness.

When he awoke, Steppenwolf was in the house of a fellow scientist, Mortimer. Mortimer informed Steppenwolf that some of his organs had failed due to over-exertion, and he was forced to replace them with a new technology from Alerar called Nanomachines. These Nanomachines formed a sort of ‘Breaker Box’ in Steppenwolf’s chest, granting him the ability to temporarily absorb energy, and redirect it. Thinking this was a sign that he had become a full-blown Super Hero; Steppenwolf invented a mask that altered his height, weight, even his hair and eyes, to become Breaker, the bringer of justice and Fighter for Truth!

Then came months of inactivity, as it turns out. The snowy plains of Salvar really did not have much of a crime rate, let alone a need for a super hero. As such, Steppenwolf began taking odd jobs as a freelancer, eventually coming across Artemis Eburi on his plan to invade an orc camp. Capitalizing on his dislike for the creature, Steppenwolf joined him in quelling a would-be rebellion in Knife’s edge.

It was during this excursion that the gentle giant learned of his brother Sei’s forming of an army in Corone. As a result, Steppenwolf has aided in various fights alongside the Ixian Knights. He trained William Arcus in the ways of the grappler, he invented the anklet that Kyla Orlouge wears from killing herself, and he even stopped a giant from terrorizing the castle during Cassandra Remi’s Night of Debauchery.

Now, with Sei declaring war on Corone, Steppenwolf has decided to step back, and allow his brother to do his own thing. However, that doesn’t mean everyone’s favorite Half-Orc, Half-Mystic can’t have some fun in the process as well!

Skills:

Steppenwolf is an avid inventor, often inventing things just for the heck of it. He has an intricate knowledge of not only simple technology, like flintlocks and steam engines, but also more advance things like grenades and nanomachines.

Steppenwolf is also a hardcore comic fan, his favorite series being ‘Captain Alerar’, the patriotic super soldier willing to do anything it takes for the country he loves. As such, he’s a bit disillusioned by the fact that he thinks super heroes could very well be a real thing, but can also pinpoint weaknesses in so called ‘super villains’ easier than most people.

Steppenwolf is a legendary grappler, second only to the oldest Orlouge brother, Niche Orlouge, and his ‘father’ Tinerad.

Steppenwolf is an expert in melee weapons due to years of experience with his nunchaku and tonfa. This means he has an intricate knowledge of the mushiest places on a body, be it elf, human, or orc. He can identify and exploit them.

Steppenwolf is above average at throwing heavy weapons due to years with his shield. This includes javelins, throwing axes, and other unusually large throwing weapons.

Abilities:

Pocket Pick!: Steppenwolf reaches into his pockets and pulls out his latest invention. What that invention is however, is determined by a word randomizer. He could have a whistle that makes every window in the are break, he could have invented a keyboard that controls snow. Most of the time, the invention only effects the environment, and not the opponent, however.

Mystic Protection: Every Mystic Protection becomes a bit different at a certain age. Steppenwolf’s Mystic Protection causes his glass shield to break with 2 medium hits, or 1 hard hit from the opponent. The glass is then sharp enough to leave deep gashes, nearly to the point of severing, once the crystalline shards explode outwards.

Steppenwolf possesses 5 times the strength of your average Althanian. He is able to throw around equipment an average man would have troubles with with little struggle. His fists on a direct hit have been known to break through cement blocks with ease, and he can even rip 3 whole phone books without assistance!

Advanced Regeneration: Due to the Nanomachines that Mortimer installed in him to make him Breaker, Steppenwolf now regenerates at four times the rate of a normal person. This means minor gashes and cuts are healed in seconds, medium cuts in thirty minutes to an hour, and crippling blows in a few days.

Afro Trap: Steppenwolf lowers his head on his opponent, effectively trapping them in his afro. The strength of the afros is the equivalent to mythril wire (can be edited if too strong))

Breaker Transformation: Steppenwolf puts on his mask and becomes Breaker. Breaker can absorb and redirect energy at will, but it comes with a cost. Breaker has precisely 3 seconds to release the energy or it starts to affect his internal organs. For instance, if Breaker absorbs a fireball, he can relaunch it without harm in 3 seconds, or else his internal organs start catching fire. Same with a water spell, only his lungs begin to fill with water, so on and so forth. Steppenwolf will never change into Breaker in front of his opponent, and actually, almost anybody. As a result, the Breaker transformation has to take place away from the eyes of his opponent (and never in a citadel fight, because who knows whose watching those). Also, for each subsequent time that Breaker holds in the energy, it becomes harder for him to maintain his redirect focus, making him more sucptible to the side effects.

There you have it, Letho!

Just a note, the reason he seems so powerful is because this is a level 5 character that got purged during the wipe, that I am now bringing back. I was hoping to retain the level 5-ness if at all possible. If you need references, Dissinger, Max Dirks, Visla, Rayse and Drago were all around, and I’m sure can and will vouch that what I say is true.

A couple of things.

I need the material of the shield.

Pocket Pick! seems like something that can easily go out of control. What if the word randomizer falls on something like a nuclear warhead or a minigun? I can allow it only with a stipulation that the result cannot be an instant kill on the opponent.

And lastly, Afro Trap. I am very intrigued to know how exactly it works. Does it envelop the opponent completely? Can it be used to squish the opponent to death, since it's as strong as mythril? How close do you have to be to use it?

I edited the shield tier in, it was mythril when ole Steppy bought it years ago.

Pocket Pick I can garuntee won't ever be that devastating, as it's just a technique I can use in a bind writing-wise to give me some more material to work with.

Afro Trap does not envelope the whole body, unless Wolfy is using it on a small child or a small person. At best, it would cover the entire upper body or lower body of a person of average height. It can not be used to crush someone to death, and the maximum distance is about 2 feet after Steppenwolf's head if he were bending down, so about 4-5 feet of range total.

That's fine. I did forget one thing. I'd like you to limit the number of times he can use the energy redirect from Breaker Transformation. Or, since the energy redirect is kind of the point of the transformation, make it so that each redirect is harder to do than the last one. Either way works for me, I trust you'll not abuse it.

Left the number out, but it is now harder for him to use thois ability. Here I thought limiting it to 'he can't use it in the citadel', as well as insinuating he can't use any other of his abilities (since his pockets disappear, he's without his afro, and he can't let people know he's one of the few hundred Mystics still around), that would maybe limit it enough.

Not back sass by any means, I edited as you asked, and you're right, it will not be abused. Breaker for the mostpart is for silly-storylines only. Kinda like the Great Saiya-Man.

My concern were non-Citadel battles where, should he get "out of sight" to transform, he could basically bounce back every magic attack thrown at him, regardless of how powerful it was or how many of them there are for as long as he likes. And while I don't think you'd abuse such a loop hole, I don't see the reason why not plug it when there's a chance.

You are approved. Thank you for your cooperation and welcome to Althanas 3.0.
