View Full Version : Three Alerar Quests

Hey guys,
I'll admit it. I'm a fan of steampunk, which makes me partial to Alerar, but for those of you who are used to Low/High Fantasy, have no fear. It won't be an extremely far cry from the rest of Althanas, so please don't let that deter you from throwing your name into the hat. I have three quests for Alerar. One is already underway and full, another is up and waiting, and the last is still being worked on. Here they are.

Equations (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?24392-Equations#top) <==link: Within the ranks of Alerar's movers and shakers are the Elders - the masterless bureaucrats, scientists, and pioneers of the country. And among their ranks a new radical theory has arisen - that the laws of physics and Althanas' fabled source of magic called the Tap are not separate, but two intertwining parts of the same reality, and that the fragmented latter source, which has given rise to bardic magic in one place and hex magic in the next, is repairing itself. While this debate goes on in northern Alerar, a search and rescue is underway in the south, where a tyrannical nobleman has killed one of those Elders, abducted his kids, and disappeared. The High Graf Schynius has called upon Vespasian Villeneuve to do whatever is necessary to find this nobleman, rescue his kids, and return them safely to their mother. The space for this quest has already been filled by Leopold Winchester.

Seeds (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?24431-Seeds) <==link: A Coronian national, who has been corresponding with Maelle Villeneuve for nearly a year now, wants to leave the island nation behind for the not so green pastures of Alerar. This farmer has secrets, about what only few know, but they're valuable enough for Alerar to want to welcome him with their signature reluctantly open arms. But it's a game changer on a worldwide level, and tonight she has only one chance to extract him and get him to safety. With her sister headed to Kachuck, Maelle is in need of tactical support. I need one player with a pc who is at least apparently human (doesn't have to truly be human though. read the first post and you'll see why), and can protect her.

Engines (under construction): Elven funerals are strange. We Humans like to say we should celebrate someone's life and not mourn their death. When you see Elves walking the walk, you realize how much we're bullshitting, especially when the funeral is for someone as long lived and accomplished as Arin'tal Deluge, noble head of Alerar's first airship enterprise. Elven inheritance is strange too, for when your Daddy has a life expectancy of nearly five millennia, you don't sit around waiting for him to croak. In this society, proprietorship isn't passed on to the eldest son like in those Human countries. This time it's just a coincidence. For the High Graf Schynius, however, it is a very very very bad coincidence that Xil'itus Deluge take his father's business, combine it with his own, and take business out of the capitol of Ettermire where he gets nice kickbacks. Esme Villeneuve has to find a way, without implicating Schynius, to get the airship enterprise out of the hands of Xil'itus and into the hands of someone worthy. I need one player. There really are no prerequisites here although I don't think a High Elf pc will work for it.

This won't be first come first serve. I'll pick whoever I think has the best fit: someone who's willing to bunny/be bunnied, available for chat on aim, and someone who can post at least twice a week. I don't suspect these will be terribly long quests. Take a look at the third post in Equations, and the first post in Seeds, and see if you're okay with my writing style before you throw your hat in.

I would like to offer to enter the Seeds quest. I'm available for chat on aim and usually post multiple times per day. Your writing style is clear and interesting. Perhaps you would be amicable to conversing on AIM?

I'd throw my hat into any of these. You know me. The second quest is basically smuggling, and the third one is deception and intel.

The second and third quests are definitely interesting to me. I fit the requirements well enough, and my characters as well, so I figured I might as well. I've also been itching for a quest or two in Alerar.

If you like, I can also get another character applied and (hopefully) approved by the end of the day. One's a sniper from Earth's Finland, and the other is a soldier with an iron hand grafted onto his arm by a demon.

My AIM is connorlacuna. I can probably post once every day, especially now that I'm out of school. There are exceptions, like next Saturday, when I'm going to a concert.

Okay. I've thought long and hard about this (tee hee), and I'd like to select Itera for Seeds, and Connor Lacuna for Engines. Rayse, I looked at both stories - and the many paths they could go in - and none of them would provide a decent challenge to a character as strong as yours unless we went back in time like we did for our last quest together, and I can't do that this time.

Don't like my profile fool you, I'm not a strong character. I only pull out the big guns for pvp, when it's quests then I play it down a lot. If I don't fit the story that's one thing, but don't say no because you think my character is too powerful. I never intended to be a powerhouse, and to think I'm getting left out of stories because people think that is very disheartening. Up to you, though.

Alright, I'm ready when you are. I can use a little direction on where the story's going, I guess.

Also, bunnying Connor is a process of saying the most manly thing possible and then rewording it so you're not quoting Ernest Hemingway.

Same. I shall try to get something by tomorrow night.

Bunnying Itera is a matter of reading a rather simplified motivation list and a simplified reaction list:

If there is something to do and it's not absolutely necessary like breathing, she's too lazy to expend the effort unless:
Would it amuse me right now, because it is something I haven't seen before? This is generally stems from a "watch others react like a stirred up an ant colony"
Would it create situations to amuse me later, for much the same reasons? This is the usual motivator for doing "altruistic" things.
Would it prove to people that I am superior to them? Caveat: If this creates some kind of cult, don't do it because it would be too much work to take care of them.
Would it allow me to visit new places and see new sights?

It is important to note that she has a weak grasp of the sense of ownership and an understanding of laws all with the phrase "don't get caught..." tacked on. A shameless and outrageous liar. Flighty for most things.

There's my first post for seeds. To clue you into the sign-countersign-status report-instruction set of conversation, use every-third decoding to read it.

I am well aware that I'm late to the party, but I wanted to say I'm always up for a thread, TI. If Marcus or another of my up-and-coming characters works for anything you run now or in the future, consider my hat thrown in.

I am potentially interested in Seeds as well, if you need another.

lol Where were you guys last week? Sorry but I only intended on working in pairs for these three quests. However, I have a few other ideas in the works (Amen I have something specifically with you in mind) so as soon as one of my ongoing quests ends, I'll jump right on it.
