Personality- Soft spoken and clear headed, he has a tendency to think things through and formulate plans before taking action. He sees the good in all people, and often acts as the voice of reason among his teammates. Jace always speaks in a formal manner, formerly with an air of respect to all people, both young and old, even when he disagrees with them.
Appearance- Jace has brown hair, light brown skin, pale green eyes, high cheek bones, and a lean build. Since he is half human, he does not have to live with the same attributes as full Mermen. Jace’s gill slits do not appear unless he is completely submerged in water, which will thus allow him to breathe under water. On the other hand, his lungs that allow him to survive on land are not as strong as a regular human. Once he is submerged the rest of his mermen form also appears- leaving him with arms and legs ending in long, webbed digits, enhancing his movement through water with little effort. This allows him to reach speeds of 7 knots. His body is very smooth and oddly free of hair, which maximizes his aero-dynamics when cruising through water.
History
Jace comes from Scara Brae, where he was raised by his grandmother Taren a native of that city. He was raised essentially as a human; however, his actual father was a merman, who fell in love with a human woman named Tierra (Taren’s daughter). Before Jace was born, his father was killed by the Yerak, an assassination squad from the underwater city of Neptunos. This squad killed him for high treason to the throne: the attempted assassination of their King La’cal. Because of this, Jace’s mother was horribly depressed and became very ill after giving birth to her son. She died four months later, leaving Jace to live with his grandmother. His grandmother never told him much about his history so he never had any idea he was part merman till he was about ten. Until that time, breathing underwater was natural to him. It was not a problem till one of his school mates panicked and told Jace’s Grandmother that Jace had “not came out the water for ten minutes!” when they were at the swimming hole. That was when he finally learned the truth from his guardian. Once he completed his education, he was prompted by his closer friends to join the Corone Navy, he signed up at 16. After serving for two years, he decided that living on the Sea was not for him and started doing freelance work as a bodyguard. He now resides in Akashma, Corone, where he is one of the new recruits on the bodyguard team for Princess Akashima. He also prefers the isolation from all of the problems that Corone is experiencing at this moment.
