Requests

Sometimes I suddenly have more free time than I know what to do with and I'm always looking for sketching inspiration, so I'm open to requests of people's characters. That being said I might not always do them and if I don't, it's nothing personal! I'd be doing it for fun, and there's always the chance that I might try to draw it and just won't share the result because it turned out embarrassingly awful. That happens kind of a lot.

I do draw things other than pretty girls sometimes. Like pretty men.

hoytti: I'm hesitant to attempt a non-human race like that simply because I'm not sure I could make it look not cheesy, plus to do a large group like that would take considerably more time than what I plan on spending on requests (30-ish minute warmups before work). I'll keep it in mind in case I find the inspiration sometime, though!

Luned, these are truly poignant pieces of art. You've got a comic book style lavish and full and very wholesome. I dare say you get more lucrative work with these, with a bit of perseverance and a lot of portfolio presentations!

It would humble me immensely to have an avatar of your representations as one of my character pictures. Which to pick to offer up to the plate, however, is a more difficult question than wherever or not I'd want to be supportive of your (JIZZTASTIC) work...

It helps a lot to have links to characters' full character sheets/applications as well as any tips on appearance or quirks. Seeing stuff like personality descriptions help almost as much as the basic visual rundown.

It was my friend's birthday (I made her join here as Olive) so I made a paper doll of her character. Around 6' 6"
Broad shoulders, medium neck.

His head is a normal human head with a nose that tilts slightly down, his eyes are a grey with a hint of a deep yellow, like, a dandelion just before it goes to seed. He has a black jagged tattoo running from the top of his right eye to the top of the bridge of his nose.

His hair is a realllllly bright crimson, with a streak of black running from the hair above his left eyebrow to the back of his head. His eyebrows are a combination of red and black speckles.

His clothing is a black leather jacket with plated steel shoulderpads attached to it and a high collar. His shirt is white with a small emblem of crossed swords on the lapel. He has a satchel so, the strap would be running under one of the shoulderpads and across his chest.

I will pay you back any way possible. I really want this. So if you ever have the time to do it, please, tell me.

Aww, it's okay, I honestly didn't expect anyone to contribute! I was mostly just showing off because they make me feel fancy (cough and Althanas might be in the background in the smutty comic cough)... and yeah, the Paypal issue is a common complaint. At least in comics, we've adapted to often offering copies of the final product through Paypal-friendly means after the KS ends, but then Paypal folks miss out on cool backer rewards so it's still a bummer.

(I'll make sure we get you a digital copy somehow once they're available!)

Sorry I haven't been writing much on Althanas lately. I have the good fortune of being buried in freelance work, but I miss posting here and writing just for fun sooo much. Here are a couple things I've been up to...

Chainmail Bikini is in good shape, books could be in people's hands in as soon as a couple months. Here's a page from my comic about play-by-post roleplaying:

PBP/Althanas also gets a nod in my contribution to this anthology (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/hopelnicholson/the-secret-loves-of-geek-girls), which I'm still wrapping my head around. Can't believe my comic's going to be in there next to work by amazing people like Sam Maggs (!), Trina Robbins (!!!), and Margaret freaking Atwood (!!!!!!!!!). I'm not sharing that here so much to brag as I'm just kind of like "how the heck did my silly autobiographical comics about being a nerd get so far?" Althanas is partly to blame, so uh... thanks! Or shame on you. Either one. Reviews will tell.

Most of my whining about deadlines is because of an ongoing series I co-created/am drawing right now, there's a nifty preview of the first chapter over on The AV Club (http://www.avclub.com/article/exclusive-preview-fresh-romance-1-revives-underexp-219902).
